Schmidtty - I'm gonna miss you. We had so many great conversations on travel and current events over the years as you identified what skin issues were ailing me- resolving them quickly. My father and I visited for 20 years. Unfortunately, I don't appreciate that you are still perpetuating this masquerade. My GP doctor isn't, my dentist isn't. Some of your customers livelihoods depend on people at least trying to return to normal. It's obvious you have become so ideologically conditioned, you're insistent on continuing something that has no basis in factual reality. It's unfortunate. Your office is showing it's age as well as being exhibit A of the hypocrisy on display. The grime on the walls and countertops in the waiting room and bathroom are a reflection of the contradiction I speak of. Pretending to maintain a standard of sanitation with your temperature check's and masks tyranny (which you people are genuinely tyrannical about) falls flat on its face as soon as one sits down in the waiting room. I've gone to Dr. Schmidt on and off for a lot of years: more years than I have fingers and toes, in fact. This is one doc that I keep coming back to, because he is just THAT good. Yeah, he's a bit of a card. He's a funny kinda guy. And sometimes (but not always) he's in and out in a flash. But, wow, he knows his stuff. I mean, he really knows his stuff. I could go into specific details about his knowledge and passion for dermatology and for your care (like when he'd see me years ago, bronzed from the sun and he'd lecture me about "You know, you can get that from a bottle"). Let's just say that he's earned my trust over a few decades or so, which is why I come back to him and don't even remotely consider another dermatologist if I ever have skin issues that need investigating. A visit to Dr. Schmidt's office is always an adventure, whether you meet up with a front office person who sort of ruffles your feathers or Dr. Schmidt himself who just tickles your fancy in an odd sort of way as he tends to your needs. Maybe you're getting a chuckle out of the framed Calvin & Hobbes cartoon hanging on the wall? Whatever it is, I know that I am in good hands, literally, because Dr. Schmidt has always given me an accurate diagnosis and a clear plan to remedy or treat the condition that I went to see him about (whether it was for me or for my children). This is one doc that is really one of a kind. I appreciate and respect that. I will add, too, that Dr. Schmidt has always been so compassionate, kind and reassuring to me whenever I've visited. Sometimes we tend to get freaked out by potential skin issues and Dr. Schmidt is a very calming, straightforward sort that alleviated much of my concerns, no matter what issue brought me into his office. read more

First and foremost , I love dr. Schmidt. He is a wonderful dermatologist. He will do anything to ensure that you are valued as a patient. This rating is based on his front staff, they are the most disrespectful bunch of jerks. They all have awful demeanor to them. They treat you like dirt on their shoes. They clearly can't handles prior authorization or even a phone call without being disrespectful. They need to be taught have to treat customers and not be assholes. Dr Schmidt was AWESOME!!! Hidden gem of an office. The staff was very friendly, and ran the office efficiently and knowledgeably! I had to call 5 other dermatologists and they all put me on hold for over 10 minutes, then once they got back to me informed me they didn't have any openings for MONTHS!!! When I called Dr Schmidts office, they answered right away with a friendly greeting, did not put me on hold and were able to see me as a new patient within the week. When My wife met with Dr Schmidt, he was warm and friendly and confidant. He was very knowledgable and was able to diagnose and explain my wife's moles. He was reassuring and put her at ease. He was also teaching a student along the way and he did so in a manner that was thorough and clear. We highly, highly recommend this dermatologist!! He was great! read more

I was so heartbroken when I went to see Dr. Schmidt. It was so bad to the both of us, he could not prescribe what he wanted to at the time, so he started me on something else. It turned out, the strongest Rx was too strong, so I continued to use the the alternative. My insurance would not cover his visits so I paid cash as long as I could, but had to switch. The office staff is the epitome of rude, unfriendly, curt and impersonal. They are the ones who represent the doctor and are doing an extremely poor job at that. Not sure why they even work there when they clearly don't like people. Dr. Schmidt rushed me and wouldn't even take the time to answer my questions. He said if I want to discuss things then I need to book an hour appointment. Have never heard of that in my entire life. He should at least spend 15 minutes per patient but I got about three minutes at best and was left confused and wondering what exactly my prognosis was. I think he is very educated and clearly knows his stuff but he needs to take the time to relay that to the patients and hire a new staff. The nurse in particular wouldn't even look at me, she had zero personality and was extremely aloof. Not a nice environment at all. read more

Called to come in for a yearly visit in order to have my prescription refilled. At 3:30pm I was told over the phone I could walk in l, but would have to wait. I drove about 30 min to the office to be told that no walk ins were accepted past 3pm. Terrible management and poor communication on the office staff. I even told the front desk I would just find a new dermatologist and the front desk girl did not seem to care. Good Doctor, not so good staff. Life changer! I have been suffering from mild to moderate acne since I was 13. I tried every drug store face wash and acne cream known to man. 2 years ago I broke out the worst I had ever broke out in my life. A couple months went by and it kept getting worse. I got into a depression and I didn't feel good about myself. I tried switching up my diet, drinking more water, switching my makeup to dermatologist approved products, organic face washes and moisturizers...the list goes on and on. Finally I decided to go see a doctor because nothing seemed to help. I had never seen a dermatologist so I just got on Yelp and found Dr.Schmidt. As always Yelp doesn't disappoint me! He is a very sweet and knowledgable doctor. He helped me clear my face and now you wouldn't ever guess that I had ever suffered with acne before. My skin hasn't looked this good since before I hit puberty. I gained my confidence back and I'm am forever grateful for Dr. Schmidts help. We recently visited Dr. Schmidt for a mole my fiance was concerned about. I am glad I got to meet him, because I now know who I will be seeing if I ever need a dermatologist! He has got to be the most personable doctor I've met! He was able to ease our fears in minutes and freeze burn the mole off. He educated us on the type of mole it was and gave us literature about it.. even showed us a similar mole he had on his forehead. Overall, this is just a great dermatologist! read more

I made an appointment but changed my mind and cancelled it so this review is not for Dr. Schmidt. This is for the office personnel. The person who I talked to and made the appointment was not nice at all. She was very impersonal and unhelpful so after thinking it through even though the doctor maybe a great one, I have the option to go somewhere else where it will be nicer people so I made the appointment to woodlands derma associates instead. I still have to wait for about 2 weeks but I don't want to settle this time and just wait. Also, when I called their office to cancel the appointment, have tried about 5 times and no hope even during office hours and when I did hear a ring, it went straight to voicemail. I wish dr. Schmidt would look at how his office staff performs and make it better because no matter how great of a doctor he is, if his staff is impersonal and unhelpful, he would miss a lot of patients willing to pay for his service. read more

I am so happy that I found Dr. Schmidt!! I first called to schedule an appointment back in November and was able to book it without any problems. The staff is friendly and the office is clean. Both times I've gone, the wait time has been less than 10 minutes. Dr. Schmidt himself is very wise. He took his time and listened to what problems I was facing. I went to Dr. Schmidt to get a second opinion. I am so glad that I did! I had been seeing a dermatologist group in Kingwood for years and have spent thousands with them (between office visits and prescriptions). My skin never got any better. Dr. Schmidt accurately diagnosed me within a day. The doctors in Kingwood were off by a mile! I never would have gotten any better--I have discoid lupus and the other doctors were burning the spots off. Over and over and over again. A doctor's staff is important, and this review is primarily about Dr. Schmidt's staff. If I could provide half a star, I would. The nurses always have a scowl and God forbid you need a refill or a call back from one of the two. Dana is especially horrible. I think Dr. Schmidt should read some of the reviews concerning this issue. Being pleasant is not that difficult, and if they dislike the patients and their job that much, then they should quit. Went to Doc to find out what was on my arm. After waiting an HOUR in the exam room the doc comes in and was nice, would have his nurse (or assistant?) burn it off. Went home with instructions how to treat for next 5 - 7 days. Have to say no pain, UNTIL the 5th day when it bloomed into a full infection. Have called them several times today but they "are short-staffed". So apparently it won't matter if my arm falls off or I die of blood poisoning. If I don't hear back from them I will go to the (usually crowded) waiting room tomorrow and make my presence and dissatisfaction quite clear to all. read more

Been calling over 6 months now for a refund that is due to me and I keep getting the go-around that they haven't received the EOB from the insurance ...... date of service was 5/12/2014 ......today's date 1/14/15. I used Dr. Scmidt for years and I thought he was very knowledgeable and practical. I had money, high deductible, and paid him out of pocket for my children and myself and made many referrals to him that I now regret. I am also a licensed healthcare provider. Five years ago I was bitten repeatedly in the night by something and began to develop horrible spreading sores. He did one biopsy and nothing definitive came back, so he labeled me with Delusional Parisitosis. I never even said anything but that it began with bites. He referred me to a psychiatrist friend of his. I skipped that. About 2 years later it was still coming and going. I developed pseudomonas so badly in my skin and on my eyelids that my gp hospitalized me for iv antibiotics for a week. He planned to get dermatology and infectious disease consults. As luck would have it, Schmidt was the dermatologist. I was covered in orange and black open lesions. He never examined me but came in my room and said he stood by his previous diagnosis, and told the infectious disease specialist so that he never even examined me. Im scarred, very sick in bed, and recently had vision loss in one eye due to acute infection. Thanks to his professional opinion, I can no longer get help anywhere. Your record follows you like a stray hound. I have givrn up and am broke, unable to work. Use caution, as his ego is very big and if he cannot make a clinical diagnosis, he won't admit it. You may never be able to get quality help again. We all saw it, it healed with the iv, but somehow we all had the same Delusion. And mine has been hell and won't quit because of Schmidt. I was devastated by his treatment after many years of sanity in his care. Don't go if it is unusual or ID related. read more
