He also found another cavity while doing my first filling and filled it for me while I was already numb, which I am grateful for. He took the time with me afterwards to answer all of my questions. The front desk staff and dental hygienists at this dental practice are also friendly, nice, and thorough - shout out to Evelyn, my favorite hygienist! There's plenty of parking at both the Gaithersburg and Kensington locations, just a narrow entry into both parking lots.

I have seen both Dr. Edmond Woo and Dr. Wang on various occasions for cleanings and regular check-ups. My appointments are quick and there's barely a wait-time if at all every time that I have gone. My hygienist today was Evelyn and she does an amazing job as well. Staff here are all very welcoming. The facility is very clean and I've personally witnessed the staff wipe down all equipment prior to and after each patient visit. There's a nice stream of background music they play as well which is nice. There's a private lot in the back for convenient parking and street parking out in front. If you're looking for a dentist in the Kensington or Wheaton area, I would highly recommend Dr. Woo's office.

I was a bit nervous about having my gums be drilled into. Dr. Romanow talked me through each step. The ladies that work here are friendly. Both visits were painless (the Novocaine shot was the only discomfort). As with all dental surgery, it's not cheap, but my insurance is paying a large share. Now all that is left are the crowns! I can wait until January for that procedure.

I had a tooth abscess, my last molar failed, so no molars bottom left side of my mouth from injury. Dentist referred Dr Azghandi for implants, said "oh he's the best!". First appointment was to evaluate the pros/cons of removing the tooth, & if I decided yes we could remove it that day. Azghandi gave me a 1 minute explanation & said he'd let me decide.. meanwhile as I was considering the surgery, he was pacing back & forth and asking the dental assistant if I made my decision yet, clearly acting impatient with his prospective "patient". I decided to have my molar extracted and we started surgery right away. During surgery, I politely asked if that noise was him extracting the tooth, and he replied in a loud/condescending manor, "You don't need to know that!!".. I was a bit taken back by his rudeness & inability to communicate properly, surgery goes on, & he finally removes my tooth with lots of effort, my teeth have very long roots and prior tooth extractions were not fun (I've had all my wisdom teeth & the rear molars removed for braces, 8 teeth total pulled, then my rear molar cracked from a dentist filling and that rear left molar was removed, leaving my bottom left jaw with 1 last molar which he was removing that day.) He put a cadaver bone in to build up the bone line, had to do this twice because the first one was too small to fill the void. Next 2 days I had to take pain meds because they ran out that night, the third day/morning I called in the office to ask for a refill and I told them I just needed enough to get through the day because I was going to work in the field & was still in a lot of discomfort. They said I needed to come into the office & Azghandi wanted to see me, I told them it was not happening because I was on my way to a customer's house at 8:30am, & if he could just write a refill for a small amount to get me through the day, that is all I was looking for. They refused to do so and left me hanging in pain all day, I took 2 Tylenol extra strength and was STILL feeling an aching/throbbing in my jaw and was working in discomforting pain the whole day. Fast forward to the 1 month follow up visit, I confirmed the appointment about 3 times for 11:30am, I arrived at 11:28am, and the office assistant said "Oh well the Dr. is about to go into surgery, we didn't think you were coming for your appointment", I said I confirmed my appointment with you multiple times, why would you make me take time off of work for this appointment just to go do surgery on someone else, complete disrespect to me & my time. She ended up getting Azghandi to stop prepping for his surgery and he saw me, literally took 1 minute for him to look in my mouth & say "everything looks fine, see you in a few more months." So I go to check out and ask about the next appointment, and she tells me that my 1 implant could get scheduled in May, and I said No, it's 2 implants that I need, not one (I had no molars bottom left jaw but 2 molars top left jaw), like WTF, what doctor would give you a half-assed solution? I told her to get the doc so I can talk to him, she hesitated, delayed a few minutes then got up and checked on the dr. and then came back and told me he was in surgery and couldn't see me, and that I needed to reschedule, and had the audacity to tell me and straight up lie to me that I was late to my appointment and that somehow I was to blame for their incompetence. I was furious, these people screwed me over and had no remorse and tried blaming me for their incompetence, what professional does that?? I had to walk away from this complete waste of time and absolute terrible business practice, looked at my phone and it was 11:47am as I walked down the long hallway. I've since contacted another periodontist who completed a full assessment & even found I needed a gum graft very soon for 1 tooth!

I have been seeing Dr. Handelman off and on for over 10 years (12? 15? I can't remember when I started seeing him!) and have always been pleased with everyone in the office. Originally, my mother, older brother, and I would see him for our regular cleanings at least since I was in middle school (that's as far back as I remember). He has done my sealants and filled a cavity and was really good working around my braces for the 4 years that I had them, too. I have never been worried about going to the dentist! He (and his assistants) have always been great as long as I can remember. When I was 15 or so, he recommended that I get all of my wisdom teeth removed and told us about a program through NIH that would save my mom a lot of money. I ended up not getting my teeth out then, since they never bothered me and he didn't push the matter at all. When I was in my late teens I stopped going to see him, but my mom kept up her visits and brought my step-dad along to join in on the dental fun. He had to have a lot of work done and had good things to say about Dr. Handelman and the recommended surgeon. Fast forward several years to when I got insurance again and Dr. Handelman was the first (and, truthfully, the only) doctor I called for a check-up. We picked up right where I left off all those years ago. He asked what I have been doing with myself and how my mom and brother were doing. He looked at my fillings and my wisdom teeth and told me he did have some concerns, but nothing that was a pressing issue. He was out-of-network with that insurance (MetLife), but the desk staff took care of all of my paperwork. I did have to pay some up-front, but after the claim forms went through I ended up with an $80 credit towards my next visit. (The woman I spoke with offered to send me a check for the $80 if I wanted. I declined.) I changed jobs and lost insurance and stopped going to see him (again). When I got insurance back through my new job (United Healthcare, this time), again, Dr. Handelman was the first doctor I called. By now, another couple of years had passed and my mom and step-dad had moved away, but he still asked after them. He checked everything out and we talked about the concerns that he had had the last time I was in and decided that, since nothing was bothering me, he wasn't going to do anything. He told me that there was no sense in spending the money to have a procedure done when it wasn't necessary yet. (A big thanks for thinking of my savings account! :) ) (Dr. Handelman also takes care of my husband's teeth and the last time he was there he came home and said, "The doctor told me to tell you and your mom hello.")

I left a message on the voice-mail because I had a minor emergency, and Dr. Handelman himself called me back to diagnose my situation. After speaking with me over the phone, he felt it was best for me to come in to the office because I was leaving for a business trip over the weekend. He scheduled an appointment with me, and arrived on his day off & opened his office just to help me. That showed me how much he really cares about his patients, and I really appreciated it. They'd already caused me pain for months, so my dentist made a call to Dr. Kazemi's office, and they fit me in for an early-morning appointment the next day. And okay, I don't remember much of it -- I had all four taken out and was unconscious for a bit -- but I *do* remember that the staff was kind and helpful.
