I am a 65 year old male who is very active. Dr. Wassef did a total R hip replacement on me two…read moreweeks ago. I had a successful left hip replacement 2.5 years ago by another surgeon who used a more universal posterior approach with MAKO robotic assist, so I have a good point of comparison. Dr. Wassef uses the DSA (Direct Superior Approach) with MAKO robotic assist which is currently a less common method due to the specific training and technique required to do this approach (google DSA to see differences). In simple terms i have been blown away at how minimally invasive this approach seems to be. Without a doubt, to date, this technique has been less painful than my previous hip. I am so impressed at how quickly I was walking normally without a walker or cane and without any limp. At 2 weeks in I am in PT doing exercises that i could not get to many many weeks beyond the 2 week point with my previous hip. Incision is quite small as well but i am not a "meaty" guy so not sure what allowed me to have such a small incision. Lastly I have NO problem taking narcotic pain meds like oxycodone! I'm not an abuser but definitely a willing user if need be. After this surgery I had real trouble justifying much of any use of the Oxy prescribed. I easily survived on two 500 mg tabs of Tylenol 2x's a day once in AM and once before bed. Thanks Doc.

I had already been through two years of physical therapy, cortisone injections, etc (through my job's workers comp insurance medical provider) in an effort to avoid surgery but my CTS was too advanced. Things moved very slowly through that system. I found the doctor to be rude and uncaring, and at the nearly two-year mark since I reported symptoms, felt like no progress was being made to help me and I wound up having to retain a lawyer. I knew surgery was the only option at this point but had zero confidence in the medical group I'd been assigned to. I was referred to Dr. Gleiberman. He and his staff treated me with kindness and compassion. He was gentle and thorough, explaining the procedure without talking down or rushing. One time at a pre-op visit I broke down and started crying (first time that's ever happened to me in a doctor's office, but not the last) and he just quietly got up and handed me a box of tissues and asked if I was ok (as any doctor should, I guess), but without making me feel like an a**hole, or hysterical female, or pathetic, like some doctors have (like some doctors have). The surgeries went smoothly, as did follow-ups and Occupational Therapy upstairs in the same building. I healed with zero complications and in good time. Bonus note: I'd taken a fall and was limping, which he asked about during one of my last follow-ups. I told him I'd hurt my ankle badly, rolling it stepping down off of a high kerb about a month before and had fallen, and had seen the Medi-Cal doctor (my job had shuttered its doors permanently and I was on disability until recovered from these surgeries) but they'd said there was nothing broken, gave me a POS splint and told me to stay off it for a few days. Dr. Gleiberman so kindly offered to take x-rays (for free) and have a look. He examined the X-rays closely and spotted a hairline fracture, and provided me with a proper boot...all this at no cost. I'd been walking on it, in much pain still, for weeks, undoubtedly slowing the healing. He gave me the x-ray on a disk and I asked a friend who has a friend who works for an orthopaedic surgeon who had a look...and they confirmed the fracture. The ankle has never been the same since...thanks, shoddy doctors who said there was no break and to just stay off it for a few days at the beginning and didn't give me a boot. I've since had another dissatisfying experience, with a different part of my hand, at my current medical provider, a few years ago. I feel like my pain, the bump, the nerve impingement was totally dismissed. And now I'm having another, different hand issue (different hand), and I'm considering calling Dr. Gleiberman's office to ask what they charge for a cash patient because I was so happy with the treatment and care I received from him and his staff. He was not sorry about it. I had 2 companies fly in for a job. I told them that I would need a month. I became disabled and he did nothing about it. It was outrageous and unsympathetic. He knew I was going to make over 100,000 plus perks. I was in so much pain. Why wouldn't the butcher help me? I ended up in the hospital, because of him. I had to cash in my 401 K, stocks, and my savings. I ended up homeless and my mind wasn't working, due to pain. Because the butcher didn't not help me, after years of knowing him. I ended up with Dercums disease and lipedema. The pain is unbearable. Dercums is not known well, but the pain is 24/7. Mississippi does not believe in pain management. I'm going to California for pain, but can't afford to live there anymore. He could have helped me out financially but he is not sympathetic or supportive. I tried calling him, but to no avail. I'm just hoping that karma will come.

However, I'm giving his business two stars because of the receptionists in the front. Even though I had a referral from my doctor, and showed them my insurance card, they refused to take it, making me pay over $500 out of pocket. They never asked me over the phone for my insurance, nor when I arrived 15 minutes ahead of time for my appointment, even though this is standard procedure at literally every medical office I've ever been to. I'm not sure if they assumed that because I paid out of pocket the first time, I would do it again (didn't have insurance at that time), but I hadn't been to the center in over *2 years*. It's just so weird that they didn't think to double-check, and then they proceeded to blame me for not bringing it up, giving me an attitude and everything.
