To be fair, they are quite on the level, if not a bit lower, than city centre physicians - so comparatively, you could add "cheap", in the inexpensive variety! The surgery is clean, efficient, with about 9 or so parking spaces in the front. The front staff are pleasant and the wait time is none to very little. They have generous walk-in times as well. It just is very pleasant. The regular consultation is 50 Euro, but follow-ups are 20-40 depending on how far out the follow-ups are. Unlike many GPs that I've met, I've found that these actually care. Additionally, they are knowledgeable and they listen. Too often a GP will interrupt you, make an instant conclusion, and rush you out the door so they can collect another 50 Euro in the assembly-line of health "care" - this is not so at this surgery. When you walk in, you do not feel as if they are after your wallet, but rather concerned about your well-being and health. Hippokrates of Kos would be pleased.

Said friend then returned to the surgery the following day to retrieve the letter and the very rude blonde receptionist wouldn't even take the time to check if the referral letter was prepared. A request for an alternative doctor to meet with them was denied as the receptionist's ego seemed to get in the way of any ouce of empathy "You can't demand to be seen when there are no appointments available"......the child is sick and they have emergency appointments for just such circumstances! My friend left very upset as her child and herself had spent a night recently in A&E and a referral letter was not a big ask from a local GP for a local child. Said friend Called Dunshaughlin GP Practice and explained that a referral letter was needed today and not only did they prepare it in less than half an hour they also made contact with the consultants office on the patients behalf. I have heard some really disturibing stories about this practice recently about wrong meds prescribed and misdiagnosis so it is not just the receptionist.....avoid this place at all cost if you take your health and the health of your family seriously! Also why bother even attemping to be treated here, they will likely turn you away! Look for other local practitioners there are some great GP's in the area.

My son was also referred here to see a consultant. I'm so happy with the service and the treatment and in general its a great hospital. There is street paid parking. I decided it was time to see my doctor who at the time was Dr Gaffney. I told him about what I was experiencing and I found him to very rude and dismissive and im not joking but he kept repeating himself, example: "I'll book you in for an mri ok yes ok, yes ok, yea yea yea ok, yes ok ok yes ok ok yes ok ok ok ok" all in one sentence which was very odd and off putting. I got a major impression that he didn't want to hear what I was telling him and just wanted me out of his office asap. He even looked at me a couple of times while I was explaining my symptoms like I was crazy and making it up. Everything was lack lustre, even when checking my breathing or heart rate or anything, everything was so casual and mumbled that you can't even understand what he's saying and if you ask him to repeat himself you'll get an eye roll and then a reluctant mumbled repeat of what he said again. Anyway I gave him the benefit of the doubt as he booked me in for an mri in Clane which I had in March 2023. The results were sent to him as told by the receptionist in the hospital saying "your doctor should contact you in a week or so" So a week went by and no contact, I waited another week and still no contact. I decided to ring the surgery to find out about my results only for the (very rude) receptionist to tell me that the doctor is busy and he'll ring me back within a few days... So another week went by and still no contact. I rang again and got the same answer that he'll ring me back... so after another week he finally rings me about my results and it was the shortest conversation I've ever had in my life. Was basically you're fine, nothing wrong with ya, good night and good luck... and I'm not exaggerating. I was extremely dissatisfied with this treatment so I decided to change doctors to another doctor in maynooth. I got the approval in September 2023 and went in and explained everything from scratch about the pain that I was experiencing. My new doctor asked for the previous exams to which he got but he still insisted on getting another mri done so he can see for himself. I was booked in for an mri for Friday December 8th and on Thursday December 14th I got a missed call and a voicemail telling me to call them back asap, I called them back and got an appointment for the 21st of December. I went in and long story short I have "thinning discs" in a number of discs along the cervical spine and will need to see a specialist in the new year for treatment and have been prescribed painkillers in the meantime. I have wasted so much precious time with this "doctor" Gaffney that it makes me feel sick to my stomach... What's worse is because I was feeling so much pain every day in my neck area and had got "the all clear" from this "doctor" I started to overthink everything that could be wrong with me that would be causing me this pain that wouldn't have shown up in the mri scan. Everything from a cancerous tumour in my neck pushing against my discs to a potential upcoming heart attack due the pains across my shoulders and chest. So many sleepless nights desperately googling symptoms trying to self diagnose which is the probably one of the most soul destroying things you can do and I don't recommend it ever. I cannot warn you enough to stay clear of this "doctor" Gaffney as much as possible because in my opinion and experience he's not a doctor. A doctor is someone you see as your friend. Someone you can share your problems with without judgement. I promise you now that "dr" Gaffney is not someone you can do this with. I've had more than a dozen doctors so far in my lifetime and I can honestly say that "dr" Gaffney is the worst doctor I have ever met. You can see that his mind is somewhere else whether it be the golf course or something. If you're ever unfortunate enough to meet him and be in the position to confide in him your problems, issues and pains, physically or mentally you'll know exactly what I'm talking about...

I was kept in the office with him for 40 minutes and none of my medical concerns were addressed adequately. I had a facial abrasion which he "covered" using his ungloved bare, unwashed and unsterile hands by roughly placing a plaster over my skin and not the abrasion itself leaving my wound open and exposed. He touched numerous appliances including his keyboard, mouse, bin, and drawers and then proceeded to continue touching my face. He over spoke me numerous times repeatedly saying "right, ok, yeah, right, ok" after everything he said. I was not granted with the opportunity to speak properly while in his office. He was visibly shocked that I requested a copy of his medical report and questioned me on it; as if that was even his place. After his feeble application of a plaster to my face he refused to continue the appointment or address any of my other medical concerns which I requested he addressed numerous times. Instead I was cut off by his "right, ok, yeah, right, ok" remark. I found him to be incredibly disrespectful, unprofessional, uncaring, and unknowable. He keeps a filthy office, unorganised medical drawers, and he also wore his medical mask under his nose, not properly protecting me from the risk of contracting a Covid variant from him. I was charged €70 for this unhelpful appointment, which is ridiculous. I would HIGHLY SUGGEST that you take any and all of your medical concerns elsewhere to be evaluated by a competent medical professional.

It has taken some time, but they seem to have settled with a really good base of doctors now. I believe you need to be registered with the surgery prior to being able to see one of the doctors, so that is something to note, if you have moved into the area. I know a few years ago, they were not taking new patients but this may now have changed. There is a free hearing test clinic on-site, a pharmacy next-door and a dedicated nurse. There is also plenty of parking at the surgery or right across the road in the Tesco car-park. It means the visit to the doctors is hassle free. It is €55 for a standard appointment, which I do know is dearer than some other places.
