Dr. Barbara is the "Gold Standard" among acupuncturists for me. In more than thirty-years, I've never been to anyone who gives a better session than she does. She is beyond extraordinary. The scope of her knowledge of the body, its energetic system, Oriental medicine, the use of herbs and supplements to complement and enhance results, among other considerations, is mind-boggling. And as if that weren't enough, she is intuitive to a very high degree and can zero in on the implication of a constellation of symptoms when I'm not even able to describe them with accuracy. Dr. Barbara is a profound and gifted healer. I am eternally grateful for having her as my acupuncturist and Oriental Medical Doctor. It is impossible to recommend her highly enough. read more

Dr Custer has been my lead acupuncturist for a few years and given I have seen many acupunturists over 30 years, she may well be the best in both patient care and effective treatment. She listens deeply. She trakes a holistic view. I live on the East Coast but ALWAYS see her when I travel to the SF area. read more

I started working with Dr Barbara because I had gotten Covid early on, put on about 25 lbs and over all didn't have energy and didn't feel healthy. She worked with me to determine a number of health issues and eliminate. I've lost 15 lbs and feeling much better after 10 months of working with her. read more

A recent sports injury left me near cripple before my recent visit to Dr Custer. My lower back pain made it impossible to do the simplest of things like turn over in bed, put my pants on without having to sit down, or get up from a seated position without having to use my arms to pry myself from the chair. I spoke to my family doctor and they just prescribed ibuprofen and told me to have blood draw after which doing so the results were "standard" I also tried the local chiropractor which resulted in a very minimum improvement. After one visit with Dr Custer, the pain was reduced by 80%! Her attention to detail and her expertise are well worth the visit! This was an incredible experience for me and I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking holistic healing! Very powerful medicine* read more

Barbara helped me with pre-menopause issues and it worked! She is obviously very experienced on the subject. Barbara has a very calm spirit, very gentle demeanor. She makes you feel very listened to. I fell asleep during both my acupuncture sessions. She gave me labs, chinese herbs and I can honestly say it helped so much that my issues are nearly gone completely. Glad I went out of network because she was recommend by two friends. And her office is nice as well read more

I've been to several different acupuncturists over the past 20 years and Dr. Custer is one of the best I've ever seen. She's a great listener and very knowledgeable. She had some excellent suggestions about diet changes I could make to help control my blood sugar levels and better manage my stress and anxiety. She takes a mindful approach to the treatment recommendation and does not rush or pressure you into things (such as food allergy or neurological tests) you either don't need, or aren't right at the time. The acupuncture treatment itself was one of the two best I've ever had. The results were immediate and very powerful. I'm excited to go back and work acupuncture into my health and wellness plan on an ongoing basis. The office is extremely clean and professional. Holly, the office manager, is very nice, friendly and helpful. She was able to squeeze me in before a business trip, which was greatly appreciated. I highly recommend Dr. Custer! read more

Few weeks back I pinched a nerve in my neck after lifting a heavy object for a client. After I've tried chiropractic Western medicine I had about 50% relief but I still had a left hand that was three fingers were numb especially the index finger and my thumb and weakness in my wrist so I wasn't completely out of the woods. I was referred to Dr. Barbara Custer to buy a customer who used her quite often said she was the Best called her made an appointment and then I got a return call and I want to see her yesterday which is Saturday the 18th I believe. After consulting with me to understand my issues she began acupuncture same day but what she did differently as she added electrodes to acupuncture needles and then cupping. The results are amazing after one treatment I have use of my index finger and it feels much better not as numb like before my finger feeling is to normal. I will schedule a return visit this coming week. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! read more

Dr. Barbara Custer is an absolute Goddess-send! I've been seeing her now about 4 years for digestive issues, adrenal fatigue and the overall effects 'life' has on the body. Her treatments are so nourishing and she immediately tunes in to what is happening physically, emotionally and energetically with you. Her approach is pragmatic, never recommending more than what you really need and always making suggestions on what you can do to empower your own healing. And her scope of knowledge is encyclopedic ranging from allergies to hormones to nutrition to pain management, etc, etc! I simply can't recommend her enough. She is definitely part of my Dream Team! read more

I've been consulting with Dr. Custer since 2008, about every three years. She has helped tremendously with diagnosing my nutty hormones as I start to hit that darned aging button. She's professional, easy to talk to, full of helpful data and a pleasure to work with. I've not done the acupuncture...yet! Highly recommend! read more

I had the opportunity to observe Dr. Barbara Custer, acupuncturist, work on my girlfriend who was experiencing an acute debilitating migraine. She took her on an emergency appointment at the end of the day. Dr. Cutter took a detailed history & examination. She explained her findings very well. I observed her needle technique and she was gentle and specific to elicit the "chi" rather easily. I noted her compassion. It was the hottest day of the year and despite this her office was very comfortable. I have 20 years experience as a chiropractor and I have worked extensively with acupuncturist so my recommendation is based upon extensive experience. In other words this is a referral from a very knowledgeable source. Dr. Custer is smart, compassionate, and highly skilled. You will be in good hands when you go to see her. Highly recommend. Dr Custer is brilliant - in addition to being professional, smart, and spot on in her treatments - visits to her office are blissful and successful. A friend recommended Barbara Custer when I experienced a fall skiing..I had so many hurts and 'ow's" Holly, the office manager, was both compassionate and efficient. I had wonderful results and reveled in the care and ambiance ( when do you ever say that about a DR's office?) Every visit to Barbara's office is a treat for the body and the spirit....she is lovely and very smart - with a huge following in Marin and the Bay Area. read more

I must say "I get results" with Dr.Custer! I recently visited Dr.Custer, because of multiple ailments that I couldn't get a diagnosis from my home doctor, as my home doctor said, i quote "What are we going to do with you Randy?" So I called Dr. Custer up and her staff conveniently scheduled me in that day. I explained my issues and Dr.Custer started my treatment. I received some chinese herbs in addition to my treatment and followed her instructions. I finally got some relief after months of agony! I have recommended friends to Dr.Custer, and in addition, have offered to pay for my friends treatment, as my friends have received results, they have been happy to pay for their own treatment and continue to see Dr.Custer when needed. Thank you Dr.Custer! read more

Dr. Custer Rocks. Her office is incredibly lovely and tranquil, and her approach to TCM, diagnosis, and treatment involves extreme knowledge, sensitivity, and compassion. I get the impression that Dr. Custer can make anyone feel differently and better about their ailments - no matter how elusive or severe - and I believe that says a lot about the nature/life perspective of a person. As a patient, I really feel that I can trust her judgment as I always walk out of her office feeling a million times better then I did when I arrived. This woman has a gift, and a knack with people. Barbara is a fantastic doctor! She is caring, listens to me, and remembers my medical history - great bedside manner.. Great staff too. Barbara has treated me for more than 20 years. My daughter of 12 years has also been treated by her too. She has healed numerous illnesses for me; but, the best of all was to help me with my pregnancy. All the doctors told me that there was no hope for me to have a child at my late age. But, Barbara thought differently. After treatments with Barbara I had a healthy baby girl at the age of 43! I recommend Barbara highly, she truly knows and understands the whole body. Barbara will go the extra distance to help a patient. I highly recommend her to everyone including children. read more

This is my first Yelp. I have seen 8 acupuncturists for symptoms that my western doctors had run out of answers for. None of the 8 previous acupuncturists had helped. I was told to be patient, it sometimes takes a while. I have suffered from fatigue for 15 years. Dr. Custer's treatment helped my problem in 2 WEEKS! I also have various muscle and nerve difficulties. Most times the PAIN GOES AWAY on the table during treatment. Dr. Custer is a magician as far as I am concerned! Absolutely go see her. read more
