I connected with Jasson through one of my Bridesmaids who gifted my husband and I with the wedding videography. My first impression of Jasson was that he was very serious about his work and giving his clients the best. We went over some ideas of what my husband and I had in mind. I was very clear with Jasson that a fancy video didn't mean much if the most important moments of the day weren't captured. I was ok with taking it old school and recording the entire day without edit as long as we could relive our moment. But he insisted on going about it his way.
After reviewing Jason's work I personally thought the wedding videos he did in the past were a bit choppy for my taste. So I made sure to let him know what my husband and I were expecting: A clear view of me walking down the aisle with my parents, a clear view of my entire wedding party walking down the aisle, the ceremony, capturing the Bride/Father& Groom/Mother dance, Bride/Groom First dance, ant the Maid of Honor/Best Man toast.
He first recorded and put together our engagement video, which we absolutely loved! It was so much fun working with him on that! He really did an excellent job!!!
Sadly, everything else was a disappointment. I'm at least thankful that Jasson made sure to fully capture and beautifully edit the vow ceremony. But we were shocked to see that everything else we requested was chopped and or missing! The shot of me walking down the aisle with my parents was taken from the back (awkward), the shot of my wedding party was taken far away where you could barely see them, the Maid of Honor and Best Man weren't even captured well enough to see, my nephew who was the ring bearer wasn't captured at all, and my husband and I's moment to walk back up the aisle after announcing our marriage wasn't filmed either! The Bride/Groom first dance was recorded from the most unusual angle where I was cut off at one point, and the Maid of Honor/Best Man toast was chopped in half! My reaction to the Maid of Honor/Best Man toast wasn't even captured because I was cut off by the camera. There were a few moments during the reception that I had to actually remind Jasson to get up and film while he was eating. I wanted Jasson to feel comfortable and of course have a meal on us, but he should've been doing his job. And part of doing his job correctly would've been knowing when/what/where and how to film!
I thought Jasson was going to let his cameras roll and capture about a 5-7 hours worth of film, then pick and choose what to put together. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. I think since he was alone, he didn't have enough equipment to capture the important moments from various angles to make sure he didn't miss anything. And Jasson put the video together the way he saw fit, not us. When we spoke about my disappointment on the phone, he acted very defensive and sarcastic as though my requests were outside of the contract and basically told me I had no right to tell him how to do his job. Thankfully he loosened up when he realized how upset I was and was willing to compromise and re-edit certain parts of the video. But he acted as though he was doing me a favor, when in reality he was getting paid to his job! Although he re-edited certain parts to the video, it didn't change much! But we decided to let it go.
I think that Jasson is excellent when it comes to editing! However, he needs to have a better understanding of what is and is not important for the final edit. If he continues to do wedding videography, I think he should consider bringing more equipment to capture all the angles or definitely hire a team to help for the day. I've seen other work from Jasson and I think it's really well done. I think his style is excellent for that of advertising! But a wedding is a once in a lifetime moment. You either capture the most important details or you don't. So it's important to make sure to deliver what the clients ask for.
I personally believe Jason's wedding videos should be at least 45 minutes to an hour long, especially since some ceremonies alone are about 30 minutes long. It's impossible to fit an entire day in 30 minutes. Also, you can't treat the final edit to a Wedding video like it's an extended highlight, especially since the video is for the bride and the groom, not the public eye. Plus the bride and groom want to watch the video no matter how "long!" It's their day!
Overall, my husband I are grateful that we have a wedding video thanks to Jasson! We both agree that besides the facts, the videos were put together really well and were fun to watch! So, we give Jasson 4 stars! We recommend him! read more
