Paul was an excellent host and willing to have us on a Sunday morning. The space was perfect for a sit-down interview with green screen. A relaxed atmosphere made the crew and the interviewee comfortable for the shoot. There is nice garden patio outside perfect for lunch on a sunny day. I would highly recommend this space if you have a small crew and need an interview space. I hope we can go back next time we shoot in the Bay Area.

Throughout pre-production, Paul advised us on crew, predicted the snags we would hit and offered practical solutions, and was a consummate professional as we worked to finalize our scheduling, crew and locations. I can honestly say that he was the rock on which we, the producers, built the production. He called me personally when he noticed an oversight that could have cost us dearly. He also generously shared his contacts which led us to an absolutely ace crew who came through every day of filming. As a low budget film, we could not supply the full crew to support him, but that never stopped Paul from pushing for quality and getting the absolute best that our grueling schedule allowed. He is an artist and combines that sensibility with decades of experience in the world of independent film. His genuine easy-going temperament kept many of us going when our locations/circumstances were challenging. And our locations/schedules were always challenging. Our director constantly spoke of Paul in the highest terms, an opinion shared by everyone on set - cast and crew alike. As Director of Photography, he was instrumental in getting us through our pages. And we made our days every shooting day, letting us stay on schedule and budget. And, in the first stages of post production, I can say the footage is excellent. The use of his Zephry cam (an amazing steady cam mounted on a Segway) gave our film production values far exceeding our budget. The jib shots he designed are beautiful. His technical knowledge of his equipment is expert level and his prices beat every rental house in the Bay Area by a significant amount. I do not believe that we could have made this film without Paul and on behalf of the producing team for The World Famous Kid Detective Agency, I recommend him without reservation.

I am sometimes given the impression that my expectations may be too high in terms of the kind of care one can expect to get in a studio - but this was the first time in my life where there was NOTHING I could say could have gone better....they were consummate professionals and absolutely ON IT with EVERYTHING, even the nit-picky musician stuff! They care SO much about the music they are making and they are real musicians themselves, not posers but highly educated and skilled. I was so particularly pleased that Ben's knowledge of music was so extensive, coming from his education at Berklee in Boston...he was SO helpful and was able to use language in talking with my drummer that clarified and nailed down concepts I was struggling to express. He also came up with some brilliant ideas to save me loads of time (and money!). I can't wait to mix my recording here when I finally get it finished! Huge shoutout to our amazing host, Natalie Lyon, for making the experience extra special. She was so warm and welcoming, and it was awesome to see the place through the eyes of someone who clearly loves what she does. We geeked out over the iconic Luxo Jr. lamp and ball, wandered through inspiring spaces filled with artwork and storyboards, and got a behind-the-scenes look at the kind of storytelling magic that has shaped so many of our favorite films. Also--note to future visitors: the merch store is dangerously good. We didn't leave empty-handed. If you ever get the chance to visit Pixar, go! It's pure magic, and it made us feel like wide-eyed kids all over again.

I've worked with JJ on a number of very different projects and I couldn't be happier with how…read morethey've turned out. I work for a national nonprofit whose mission can sometimes be complicated to describe, even to new staff. So we hired JJ to help us put together a video talking about our mission for internal staff training purposes. It necessitated a ton of interviews with all kinds of different staff members in varied locations, and JJ was a total pro at setting up the right shots, getting the sound right, and setting our staff (most of whom were appearing on camera for the first time) right at ease. The video turned out so well that we actually ended up using it externally as well, and that's a big testament to how engaging JJ was able to make it. More recently, we hired JJ to shoot a series of 4 different social media-length videos for us to use as Facebook and Instagram ads. He demonstrated a great understanding of what would play best on social media, and even helped us come up with the concepts for each video. He was also able to help us with casting talent, story boarding, and finding a director, all while staying within our nonprofit budget.
