This review is for the DQ/Orange Julius in Great Lakes Mall. The Friday before Christmas the counter was busy. The two staff members were pleasant, filling lots of orders since the line was long. The selection of flavors for the Juliuses is overwhelming. I remember when only orange was the flavor, hence the name. I enjoyed the cold flavorful original orange Julius. SUMMARY: Drive somewhere else for Blizzards (& maybe pretzel sticks). All other ice cream treats at this location are Dairy-Queen-standard. This location is an Orange Julius, meaning they only sell a handful of hot food items. REVIEW: Nothing outstandingly different about this Dairy Queen location. It is an Orange Julius, so they don't serve hot food like the others, which except for in a mall or something, I just don't get why you'd make a Dairy Queen and take away half of the entire restaurant, but keep the worst of the foods. Just a heads up, if you want a Blizzard choose a different Dairy Queen. ------ Aside from my 2 recent visits, all my prior Blizzard experiences have been pre-pandemic. ------ VISIT 1 About 2 weeks ago, I went through the drive-thru for some ice cream cones, and saw they had my favorite [pink & white with sprinkles] Frosted Animal Cookie Blizzards! (They also have Cotton Candy atm..! I've gotten that before, I recommend.) So I got a medium Blizzard for myself, with "extra stuff," which just means you pay for some extra cookie pieces, or whatever topping is in that Blizzard. It was great! Loaded with 'stuff.' There's always a little section at the bottom of the Blizzard cup that is just vanilla, because the machine doesn't reach that low, but that's fine & expected. ------ VISIT 2 So this past weekend, Saturday May 22nd, I go to the Dairy Queen, and for $16 (!) get 2 medium chocolate ice cream cones, and 2 medium Frosted Animal Cookie Blizzards with Extra Stuff. Why not 1 Large? Well I'll tell you why... Story time: I had my 2nd vaccine appointment the following Monday May 24th, so I figure I'll get some yummy ice cream for the night of, or the next day. So I have some of the first Blizzard Monday night. I took a picture, i can't find it in my camera roll & I don't know what happened to it, but I didn't even get HALF WAY before the cookies were gone, and the rest just plain vanilla ice cream. I thought about saving it to take it back, with the 2nd Blizzard uneaten, but I really wanted the cold ice cream, so I just cried about wasting so much money on vanilla ice cream & ate it. Not to mention it had been 2 days since I bought them. And of course, I didn't get a receipt. I started the second Blizzard a day or 2 later, and it had even less stuff. This is why I don't order large Blizzards, because I knew, at least at this location, the bigger the Blizzard, the less 'stuff' that comes in them. That one visit really played me! :( Looking back, it was too much good stuff to be true! wink ------ I just really encourage you to drive to a different Dairy Queen if you want a Blizzard. I will, and I l'll review their Frosted Animal Cookie Blizzards too if they're consistently better. ------ BTW: there are a couple hot food snacks at this Orange Julius DQ, like the warm soft pretzel sticks. But no meals, like Hamburger & French Fries, or Chicken Strip Basket & Onion rings. The pretzel sticks seem to be on the permanent menu, because many other snacks have come and gone. I love soft pretzels, I got them from this location all the time when they first came out. But for about 2 years (maybe less) now, whatever oil they use to make sure the salt sticks to the pretzel, I'm telling you, it's almost like its own topping. And it is not butter. And it is not good. The pretzels sometimes had very little salt in the beginning, so maybe they got complaints and decided to try to fix that. But it's kind of turned me off their pretzels all together. Their soft pretzel sticks come with warm queso dip. Its pretty good, but I think they could have found a better cheese to 'go' with their pretzel. I have had the queso somewhere else before though, so it's not their recipe. read more

had a horrible experience at this location. So bad I blasted fb and yelp and google and called corp. After talking with the gm 1st thing in the morning, he was able to make up for what the manager did and as well the manager called and apologized for what had taken place. I work in customer service and know how hard it is and I've also held many managment titles so I can say this complaint was handled properly and I went from saying I wont be back to I'll be back after the dust settles. Thanks to mike for reaching out to me asap and making this right and ty to kayla for calling and apologizing for what u did. Giving them 5 stars now! I'd rate it zero stars if I could because management needs to train workers to be more organized and respectful. I went to this place with my friends after mini golfing and we walk in this worker yells at everyone to put masks on which is fine. I was confused because I saw no sign saying it's required inside. It's busy but all the staff is running around and cashier looks new not trained yet. I waited about 15 minutes and nobody made anything I ordered. All the people who ordered after me got their orders but I didn't. Two workers rolled their eyes at me and gave my money back. Family walks in and nobody says anything about them not wearing masks. The cashier asked another worker to say something to family and the family shrugged said we don't have any. WHY ARE YOU ONLY YELLING AT CERTAIN PEOPLE? Managers need to do something about this place. read more

This Dairy Queen has a putt putt golf next door. This is an Orange Julius so it doesn't have a full sandwich menu. The cones I got there were crunchy and not soggy. There are a few soft seats in the dining area. Usually clean restrooms. read more

Just left. I got a smores blizzard. It tasted fine till I got to about midpoint. Then I got some mysterious chewy nastiness. It tasted like rotten raisin. Considering there are no raisins at dairy queen I have no idea what it was. But it was rotten and incredibly disgusting. read more

I gave a donation for the Childrens Rainbow Hospital today. The coupon they gave me for the donation expired 12/31/2015. Called and was told to call back the manager was on for a break, thought they would honor them... What about let me take your name and phone # so our manager could call you back? This coupon can't evidently be used at any DQ with this date... Donors never told of expiration - they could have changed date- stamped DQ address... Just saying. read more
