The calzones were freaking awesome. I got the buffalo chicken one and my partner got the spinach and cheese one. We also got the cinnamon stix. That's the only reason I gave it one less star- because the cinnamon sticks were super dry and not that cinnamon-y. Otherwise this place is DOUGHP

SOOO FIREEEEE. Just what you need after a long day. This shit blessed my tastebuds. They don't play when it comes to the zones.

Did you know that you can use Pocket Points to get a free calzone every week? It's amazing! Make sure to swap your points in quick, because the deal sells out fast. I got a free a BBQ chicken calzone, first calzone I'd ever tried. It took around 10 minutes to make, and I was the only one there. They have long communal tables for dining, not exactly the best style. The BBQ sauce and cheese in the calzone were delicious, but the dough exterior was almost tasteless. The crust was hard-to-chew and bland, so I just threw it out. In one meal, I only ate half of a calzone. Not sure if I prefer calzones over pizza, but all in all, a good experience given that it was free. I don't think I would have ever come here if I had to pay.

I've decided this is one of my favorite things to eat after having it so much....bumping it up to a 5! I'm always super happy after eating here and forgot that I only gave it a 4 after trying them out when they opened up. It's definitely a solid 5! Go try them out!

Stopped here on a random Saturday night. Ordered the Speed Zone calzone which was pretty tasty (would've been tastier drunk/stoned) and loaded with ALOT of cheese. Service was very fast and the place was very clean. Since it's downtown Iowa City it's an affordable option for college kids especially after a night of bar hopping. Will be back

Service at Maggie's was excellent--our server Harry really made the experience. We ordered two drinks: the Lemon Lavender Italian Soda (refreshing and tasty) and the Hugo Spritz. The Hugo Spritz initially just tasted like tonic water, but we let our server know and Harry kindly brought us a replacement that was much better. For food, we tried the Margherita pizza and the Ellie (caramelized onion, blue cheese, and onion). Both were decent. Seems like fresh ingredients! I am personally not a fan of blue cheese usually, but I did enjoy it. Service was super efficient--felt a little rushed but they are typically very busy on a Friday night. Dessert was a nice finish: the raspberry ice cream tasted like real raspberries, and the shortbread was decent. Only downside? Lots of flies--we found ourselves swatting them away throughout the meal. Overall, a good experience and we will be back!

The wife and I are in town to attend an event at the University of Iowa and we just needed a place to grab a quick dinner on the way back to the hotel after a long day of traveling. We sat at the bar, and as mentioned, the bartender was friendly and attentive. We ordered cheddar bacon fries as an appetizer and a small thin crust Lola Pizza - which had spinach, garlic, red onions and pepperoncini peppers. The cheddar bacon fries probably sat in the window because they were delivered with the pizza. Not a huge deal, but they weren't very flavorful. The pizza was better.. crispy crust, good sauce to toppings ratio, but sadly it really didn't stand out enough for me to recommend Sam's. There are just too many better options downtown for better food.

My wife isn't a big pizza fan, so anytime we have an opportunity to pick pizza as a dine-in dinner, and blame it on others, I'm going to take that opportunity. And she loved it too. First for the appetizer, we chose the onion rings. They were really onion straws (remember the old Damon's BBQ Onion Loaf? They're like that!). They were great. A bit messy, but great. For pizza, we went with the thin crust Union Jack, which is basically deluxe: Italian sausage, pepperoni, onions, mushrooms, red bell pepper. I loved the way they cut the peppers super thin, and the pizza was fantastic. I'd love to try the other crust/styles as well someday, but the table voted and that's what we landed on. Six stars for the pizza. The restaurant is bigger than it looks, and was very crowded on an early Saturday evening. It is obviously popular, as the inside dining was full and the outdoor patio was nearly as popular. Service was very friendly, and helped us navigate the crust decision. The only downside - and I didn't test them on it - is the 'only one refill' rule on their fountain drinks. I hate this rule almost as much as Mexican restaurants charging for the second basket of chips and salsa. It just makes no sense to me. But I don't think I even finished the first one, so I have no idea if they would have actually charged me if I had !GASP! asked for a third drink. This is a top ranking for me - loved it, will return next time I'm in town. If you're looking for a great pizza place with other dishes on the menu, Wig & Pen is a great choice!

The spacious restaurant with an old school charm has plenty of rooms for the crowds that seek out their delicious pizza. Another table next to us ordered the thin crust, so I'm guessing that's as good as the huge pie we got. But if you like Chicago style, you must try the Wig and Pen-this is their original location I went to in the 90s, and I'm happy to say it's just as good as I remembered-every year when I return to visit family. It's either here or Sam's Pizza for the colossal cheese filled loveliness.

The waitress was nice so she got some recommendations from the bartender and we were able to choose wine that way. The pizza was great, some of the best we have had in Coralville.
