The calzones were freaking awesome. I got the buffalo chicken one and my partner got the spinach and cheese one. We also got the cinnamon stix. That's the only reason I gave it one less star- because the cinnamon sticks were super dry and not that cinnamon-y. Otherwise this place is DOUGHP

SOOO FIREEEEE. Just what you need after a long day. This shit blessed my tastebuds. They don't play when it comes to the zones.

Did you know that you can use Pocket Points to get a free calzone every week? It's amazing! Make sure to swap your points in quick, because the deal sells out fast. I got a free a BBQ chicken calzone, first calzone I'd ever tried. It took around 10 minutes to make, and I was the only one there. They have long communal tables for dining, not exactly the best style. The BBQ sauce and cheese in the calzone were delicious, but the dough exterior was almost tasteless. The crust was hard-to-chew and bland, so I just threw it out. In one meal, I only ate half of a calzone. Not sure if I prefer calzones over pizza, but all in all, a good experience given that it was free. I don't think I would have ever come here if I had to pay.

I've decided this is one of my favorite things to eat after having it so much....bumping it up to a 5! I'm always super happy after eating here and forgot that I only gave it a 4 after trying them out when they opened up. It's definitely a solid 5! Go try them out!

    Speed Zone

Stopped here on a random Saturday night. Ordered the Speed Zone calzone which was pretty tasty (would've been tastier drunk/stoned) and loaded with ALOT of cheese. Service was very fast and the place was very clean. Since it's downtown Iowa City it's an affordable option for college kids especially after a night of bar hopping. Will be back

Was a great deal for fast high quantity food. Today's visit went about as well as we could've hoped. We got to try all our old usuals and they were just as good as we remembered! The only real down side was the "shrink flation" of portions, but I'm not surprised given the all the changes that happened over the last 6 years. Oh yeah and one pandemic. Core memory... We got a lot of food to try and sample as much as we could (we usually do on a first visit to a place to see what we like and have more reasons to come back). The churro could've been warmer, but it was a good combination of crunchy and sweet which I was okay with. The burrito taco combo was great, though the spicy green sauce is what sealed the deal for me on it. Fries were 99 cents as a side, couldn't say no! Nice and hot when we got them! Yummy! Chips and queso was also good. Cheese was steaming hot! Quesadilla was massive! We added Pico but think we will ask for it on the side in the future. Breakfast burrito with bacon was as good as we remembered, but like mentioned before not as big. The Pina drink was pleasant. We will likely get it again. Tastes like pineapple! The automated ordering machine was nice in our case since we could look closely at all the options and take our time, but in the future I think I'll stick with talking to a person (which I think is an option for ordering? There is a drive through so for sure there is a way). Food came out promptly with minimal staggering. Our server was pleasant which is a plus these days. It was kinda empty and quiet inside which we don't mind, but if that kind of atmosphere is off putting to you, you have been warned. Though a train going by occasionally does break the silence quite dramatically. Also, the train. Don't forget about it if you are trying to grab a quick bite for lunch! We certainly will come back again for some comfort food and reminder of "good-O'l times"

Here's some background: I've been debating trying this new-to-me fast food chain for a year and a half now. I've throughly interviewed many friends about what to enjoy and what to avoid at Culver's. Among the most memorable responses was "don't eat the shrimp." I thought "WOAH! What fast food joint thinks they can do seafood well?" Imagine, the nerves were building and my sound mind questioned whether it was a good idea to try this overly ambitious, ice cream making, burger flipping establishment. Then comes a destined Tuesday night. I desperately craved chicken tenders. My husband, desiring to cure my need, suggests Culver's for dinner on Wednesday evening. Wednesday evening rolls around. The idea of trying new fast food daunts me. We were courageous. We were ready for the unknown. We bravely bursted through the doors of the establishment to find-- frankly something that resembles an IHOP. It was homely, clean, and inviting. I let my guard down little bit. We surveyed the menu with indecision. All of my studying couldn't prepare me for the pressure of selecting ONE, not two, ONE thing to eat for dinner. The friendly employee at the register made suggestions and gave us time to process through this potentially life-altering decision. We ordered and astonishingly paid about $20 for our two meals! I was flabbergasted because you can't buy food this cheap anymore. We sat out our booth anticipating the fate before us. Just then, the food was delivered triggering olfactory excitement. By the end of the night, there wasn't a lick of food left on our trays. Each bite of food went down perfectly alone or with one of the five sauces they permitted us to order. Look, I don't need to tell you how this food tastes. Go and have the experience for yourself. I hope you'll be pleasantly surprised just as we were. Though I had a feeling of initial reluctance about trying this food, I would happily eat Culver's any night of the week. This was a surprising, yet unanimous five-star experience.

The manager did nothing but taste the flavor and had no clue of what was wrong - his statement "I checked the lines this am." Well the ratio is off or the content bag is outdated giving off the wrong flavor. Of course it made the environment somewhat pivotal and I could not wait to find my favorite soda somewhere else!
