We don't have Culver's on the East Coast. I can proudly say that I walked through the doors of Culver's for the first time on Wednesday night around 8 p.m. and had myself a heyday! Here's some background: I've been debating trying this new-to-me fast food chain for a year and a half now. I've throughly interviewed many friends about what to enjoy and what to avoid at Culver's. Among the most memorable responses was "don't eat the shrimp." I thought "WOAH! What fast food joint thinks they can do seafood well?" Imagine, the nerves were building and my sound mind questioned whether it was a good idea to try this overly ambitious, ice cream making, burger flipping establishment. Then comes a destined Tuesday night. I desperately craved chicken tenders. My husband, desiring to cure my need, suggests Culver's for dinner on Wednesday evening. Wednesday evening rolls around. The idea of trying new fast food daunts me. We were courageous. We were ready for the unknown. We bravely bursted through the doors of the establishment to find-- frankly something that resembles an IHOP. It was homely, clean, and inviting. I let my guard down little bit. We surveyed the menu with indecision. All of my studying couldn't prepare me for the pressure of selecting ONE, not two, ONE thing to eat for dinner. The friendly employee at the register made suggestions and gave us time to process through this potentially life-altering decision. We ordered and astonishingly paid about $20 for our two meals! I was flabbergasted because you can't buy food this cheap anymore. We sat out our booth anticipating the fate before us. Just then, the food was delivered triggering olfactory excitement. By the end of the night, there wasn't a lick of food left on our trays. Each bite of food went down perfectly alone or with one of the five sauces they permitted us to order. Look, I don't need to tell you how this food tastes. Go and have the experience for yourself. I hope you'll be pleasantly surprised just as we were. Though I had a feeling of initial reluctance about trying this food, I would happily eat Culver's any night of the week. This was a surprising, yet unanimous five-star experience. read more

Where do I even begin, came here fried and order a double butter burger and fries with a concrete mixer. I wait about 15 minutes for my food just to get a burger with ice cold cheese, a stale dissatisfying bun, not to mention an underwhelming burger patty, but it doesn't end here. I order a concrete mixer with cookie dough and CHOCOLATE ice cream, emphasis on the chocolate, and here comes my vanilla mixer with cookie dough. NOT what I ordered! What's not to like about Culver's? The frozen custard was amazing and the people at the counter were quick with taking our order and providing suggestions. The one downside was it took a REALLY long time for our food to come out -- an abnormally long time for a fast food establishment. Part of that is they are always busy, and they're busy for good reason, but be prepared to wait! read more

We could start the debate right here, right now. Is custard or ice cream yummier? (Is yummier a word?) One's colder, not very creamy-- and served basically everywhere. While the other is decadent, flavorful and served at Culver's on the daily. Custard is my jam, yo. Don't hate. This is pretty solid location, custard aside. Right off the highway, it's super convenient for a lot of westsiders. There really aren't a lot of non-Golden Arches drive-thrus in the area-- so that alone gives it an extra star. The staff is helpful. They get items out correctly and quickly more times than not. I'd recommend a concrete mixer any day... a mini size... because honestly that is all you need and it's basically the size of a typical small. (My kids would recommend the hot fudge sundae, one scoop. Even though one scoop isn't on the menu.) Tasty as hell, bigger than the bun breaded pork tenderloins live here. Perfectly fried chicken tenders, too! Get the cheese curds, to experience Culver's in all its glory. A quality experience and tasty meal is had at this Culver's-- drive on thru. read more

waited in drove through for an hour because it was after the game, which isn't the problem. Took 20 minutes to get my food after i paid and then i left because i had to bring food back. got back to my apartment and parked, realized they forgot my kids meal, so i went back. i waited 7 minutes and when i got back to my apartment this was my corn dog. It was super burnt and all of the corn dog was crunchy and it's taste was awful. read more

This Culver's (710 Hwy 1 W in Iowa City) is the slowest place on earth. Over 35 minured to get our food. When the tray arrived, the it was missing an order of fries, an applesauce, two cheese sauces and both ice creams. The waitress was rude, made excuses, and then took away all the food she did bring. Sat for another five minutes before a second waitress came with our order - and still, items were missing. We've been going to this Culver's every Friday after my daughter's gymnastics practice, but after three weeks of incorrect orders, slow service and having to cancel appointments that I should have been able to get to if service hadn't been so slow and poor, I have decided that I will NEVER step foot in this Culver's again. The fact that I came three times in a row and gave them my hard earned money for $hitty servise makes me sick. read more

We were the only customers and the pop machine wasn't even on yet. They forgot our fries which is fine and a big deal buy when we got our soda, several black chunks was with the soda. All flavors had this black junk. When we mentioned it to the crew member there no I'll take care of that or apologize, she just said she'd Come back from break early and get some from the back. Wish I got one of these in Texas with me. I stayed at the apartments next to here so I stopped by here a couple of times. Their cheese curds are so good and I tried a bunch of their deserts; I absolutely enjoyed their variety of coolers, my favorite being the strawberry flavored one, and their frozen custard is so great. One staff member was so helpful when he was recommending his favorites and I loved how friendly he was. Love this location! read more

I'll give it a 3 b/c the food was just as expected for Culver's - if based on food alone, i would have given it a 5. But the gal that took our order made us question our decision to stop there. We tried to remove cheese (b/c my husband is lactose intolerant) and tomatoes. She said they had to charge us to remove items. We asked her just to clarify b/c that was the most odd thing we've ever heard. She responded by saying that's what they have to do. The gentleman that brought our food and later removed trash, was very pleasant and kind. He asked if we'd like cups for refills (due to Covid) We then took those new cups to get refills and the same gal from earlier, approached us - unpleasantly telling us that if we wanted refills that we'd have to get new cups. This review is based on what I ordered and experienced. Your experience may differ. Service: one counter available while the other 3 idle. I see some of the employee just laughing around, making loud noises. Worse service I have seen. Maybe it's because it wasn't lunch or dinner hour but still, they must have a consistent service. Burger: oh god, where do I start. I order this burger with mushroom and cheese with sweet tea. The meat was dry with no flavor. I didn't even taste the mushroom. The only thing I could taste was the cheese. The bun was kinda squashed. It was horrible. But that wasn't the worst part. That night, I vomited 6 Times in the course of 2-3 hours. I was about to collapse and faint out, my roommate wasn't even at home. I called a friend in the middle of the night and had him rush me to the ER. I assume it's food poisoning. Note, I did not eat or drink anything else that night. I had a late dinner and went back to my apartment. I will never come back to Culver's. read more

Carpooling with a Colleague and they wanted something quick but better than fast food so this was his pick. A little concerned because he described it as a step above fast food. The selection was carried but I was told I told to get the fried cheese curds and a buttered cheese burger. Tried it with their diet root beer and would have to say it wasn't half bad. The burger has a good taste for what it was but the cheese curds were to small. The root beer was tasty and probably my favorite part. If I had a choice between there and other fast food joints I would return but would not go out of my way. read more

Very poor service at drive through. The burger I ordered must have been sitting for awhile, even though there was only one car in front of me, when I arrived at the window the burger was already done, packaged and in the bag. I could not have been "made to order", the burger was cold and had the wrong ingredients. I could have done better at McDonald's or pretty much anywhere else. The weather this night was cold so my guess is the employees did not want to walk the order out to my car, but this the second time this has happened to me at this same location. I've come here with my wife half a dozen times for their custard--I usually get a concrete mixer. The last few times I've been, they hardly put any candy in at all. It was like a teaspoon of snickers dust at best. I hate to sound whiny but that's just being cheep and trying to conserve ingredients. It's not a snickers mixer if there isn't a piece of snickers larger than a grain of sand. When I went and complained the most recent time, to their credit they added more, but then they mixed my half-eaten blizzard up with their machine... that seems a bit unsanitary. read more

Culver's offers great quality burgers at a reasonable price. The burgers are flavorful paired with Wisconsin cheese curds makes it a great meal. Their concrete custard shakes give you a variety of ways to mix and match the toppings. Overall you're getting quality burgers at a fair price. Would recommend. read more

There used to be a time when I was proud to say Culver's was a Wisconsin business. Unfortunately that is not the case anymore. As a native of La Crosse, WI, I grew up enjoying Culver's butter burgers. The quality of meat was second to none. The patties were thick and delicious. Sadly, those days are over. It is clear that Culver's has put monetary gain ahead of customer satisfaction. My recent visit to Culver's, Iowa City was a disgrace. I proudly announced to my girlfriend that we were going on a date, to a restaurant that embodies what it means to be a Wisconsinite. Unfortunately, after ordering two butter burgers, we were disappointed to be served the thinnest patties I have ever witnessed in my life. Not to mention, the edges were burnt. I am thankful that I ordered a double because due to the thinness of these patties, it equated to a single at any other respectable fast food establishment. Many summer road trips this year featured a stop at Culver's once we had the cheese curds. Happy to be so close to one in town. As other reviews mention, the cheese curds and onion and rings are very good. But don't overlook the root beer. They have a regular, caffeine free and diet versions and they are some of the best root beers I've had that didn't cost a ton and come in glass bottles. read more

disappointed. got the spicy chicken sandwich and the cranberry bacon blue salad, and my expectations were through the roof. when i got my food, the only thing i experienced was sadness; thoroughly. first, the salad did NOT come with its respective dressing, completely violating the first rule of a fast food salad (if you didn't, it is the dressing). secondly, and the most unrewarding, the chicken sandwich. how to describe that lack of joy. i was introduced to this so-called form of food in a box; which up to that point it was ok. only until i opened such box to find the chicken sandwich, more like a disgraceful attempt of a sandwich. as a chicken sandwich connoisseur, you may know that they are supposed to have some sort of sauce to cut the dryness on the bread and the breading. unfortunately, culver's is not aware of such rule. just like with the dressing, apparently they are not fond of flavor. maybe the only thing to highlight was the pickle, good job :) . oh and by the way, no napkins either. read more

burger had cheese on it (receipt said plain) and did not get bbq for tenders (as noted on receipt). called spoke with trevor the mananger, let him know what happened and requested they remake the order and i would drive back over. he was not willing to do this and said he would give me a plain burger and bbq sauce! so i get to eat cold french fries and cheese curds after getting the plain burger and bbq sauce. he was 100% not willing to give me fresh tenders after driving back over to get my bbq?? we "used" to eat at culver's once a week befroe this....never again thanks to the poor customer skills and not willing to take care of the customer. read more
