Man this place was awesome! Not many liquor stores are open until midnight by a college campus so I appreciated that. The staff was kind and welcoming, they were super helpful and patient throughout their small rush they had closer to close. The prices are pretty affordable, however, I just wish they would accept Apple Pay! I would've spent a lot more money for the get together we were having. I'll definitely be returning here and encourage you all to check them out. They have side parking a little down the street from them but it can fill up quickly! Definitely bus accessible though! read more

Staff is very kind and personable. They even had a special deal for international women's day with 1 cent bottles of wine which is a crazy good deal!! They have an excellent selection including soju which is sometimes hard to find. read more

I flew in from Houston, TX and was so amazed with the customer service, friendly conversation, and amazing choices! JP took care of us and helped us choose the perfect liquor for my birthday weekend! I told him it was my 30th and he gave me a little birthday surprise! I was so excited. He truly made a first great impression to DC and a wonderful start to my vacation here. Thanks JP - May you continue to keep smiling and keeping DC awesome! read more

Downtown Liquors - Beer, Wine & Spirits Near Me - Washington, DC, District of Columbia

Visiting Downtown Liquors on International Women's Day my sister and I were treated to a bottle of rosé for a mere penny. She was in town under difficult circumstances and we'd had an unlucky and terrible morning, and this little bit of grace, along with some fabulous tacos next door at Habanero were the things that turned her trip around. The world needs more of this! Thank you read more

Stopped into this place on a whim the other day and was so impressed! We told JP that all three of us were celebrating special occasions and he gave us not one, not two, but THREE bottles of wine on the house. To top it off, he also gave us a discount on the bottle of champagne that we bought. He is truly a stand up guy who wants to ensure that his customers are well taken care of and is so friendly and helpful. There are also wine specials on Mondays and Tuesdays. The prices are fair, the selection is varied, and the customer service is great. I 100% recommend! read more

JP is a truly great guy! That alone is worthy of my business. He's warm and friendly. They have reasonable prices on all of the staples, with the princess treatment to boot! They even indulged all of us ladies with an amazing complementary bottle of wine for International Women's Day. I can't even believe how generous and respectful they are there. I will definitely be buying exclusively from Downtown Liquors. I feel so lucky to live just up the street! Thank you! read more

You will not find another liquor store with an owner and patronage as easy going as you will here. JP is honored to see his returning customers flash their smiles as he always has what they are looking for. Walking in, you're immediately greeted by two walls lined with selections from floor to ceiling. There is literally not a choice you won't be happy with walking away buying. Did I mention there is a discount on wine on Mondays and Tuesdays? See, now you won't have to wait until wine Wednesdays to save some dinero. As a new owner of this store, JP has hosted a few community events already in his short half year being open. Always check in with JP to see what he has up his sleeves, but it's usually a grand time. read more

I've been coming to this liquor store for years and I can tell you this place is without a doubt the place to go if you're looking for a good price and the absolute BEST customer service. I knew the previous owner of this store and I thought no one could be nicer than him. It turns out I was wrong. The new owner, JP, is the man! He's always super friendly and always has a smile on. He has a phenomenal selection and if he happens to not have what you want, if he can, he'll order an item just for you! He never closes early either! His staff is also very helpful. Tequila. Check. Bourbon. Check. Check. Small Batch Backyard Billy's Homemade English Style Double Imperial Stout Ale. Probably not. But this place has everything under the sun needed to curb your thirst for booze. From bourbons to Becks to tequila to Tecate to vodka to Vudweiser. These guys are hella nice and love seeing the neighborhood come in for support. Support local people! Great customer service. They occasionally give out free samples! No better place to buy booze in the area 5 out of 5 stars! read more

This place has become my favourite local place - excellent collection of gin and genuinely friendly people! They do an amazing job with customer service and are super happy to order anything you want that they don't have in stock. Reasonable prices, but it's the smiles that keep you coming back! read more

Everyone working here is always very helpful and friendly. It has a good wine selection (also some chilled) and decent craft beers in the back. They don't sell much else besides beer wine and liquor so they have a big selection. Lots of great whiskeys as well, including some hard to find stuff. Reasonable prices and they have "happy hour" on Mon and Tues where you get % off wine (and maybe beer?) I think it's 20% off! They always have deals and even gave me free wine on women's day! Recommend! read more

So I usually do not review liquors stores. It is a basic transaction, I want booze, I give them money for it and I leave. Not hard to mess up to make me warn others, not interesting enough to make me invite others. Well today is the exception! I went here on International Women's Day and got a free bottle of wine. But I also made a friend, JP. JP owns the store and has three sisters in India. When I saw the sign for a free bottle, I thought "nothing is for free in DC. IT'S A TRAP!!!" But I had time, so I was like lets go. I went in and JP greeted me. He and the rest of the men wished me a Happy Women's day and gave me a real full bottle of wine. I was shocketh. Then we started to talk. He told me how important the day was to him because of his sisters and how everyone should be concern about women having rights and to be treated fairly. So I left with a friend bottle of wine and new friend. read more

I love JP, the new owner of Downtown Liquors. He is so kind, welcoming and informative. I've told all my friends in the neighborhood this is the only liquor store worth going to. It's under better management, has a nicer, more welcoming atmosphere, more affordable prices and the kindest staff. JP is my favorite new addition to the neighborhood - I hope he stays forever! Not to mention, he handed out free bottles to all ladies on International Women's Day! How can you not love that? We love you JP! read more
