Every year when I get back there on vacation, they've spent another zillion dollars rehabbing another section. In July 2025, several of us went bowling and the lanes are excellently maintained (unlike those ridiculous new cheap lanes where the pins have strings through them?!??!). The beer was great too. I really hope the family who owns this doesn't lose the faith, and the community backs up this business because it will only get nicer as time goes on. We need more places like this to get us off our couch butts and go get some fun activity.

Upon entry, you'll pass lots of fun photo-ops like giant pumpkins, scarecrows, and hay barrels. They have a giant barn front and center with pumpkins for sale, along with honey and a few other local products. My kids were most drawn to the big area filled with animals - from goats and cows, to peacocks and chickens, lots to see. It's a 'feed at your own risk' scenario so we just stuck to petting them. They also have a few playgrounds to climb on, a big ol' corn maze that we thoroughly enjoyed, and horse-drawn wagon rides! My son was adamant we took a ride, and with it being only $3/person to ride, we thought that was a nice deal. The wagon took us through the colorful woods and across the massive pumpkin patch where we could pick our own to purchase on the way out. We've been to many of farms like these over the years, some super done up and spectacular, some smaller like Bulitz. Would rate this one a thumbs up and worth a little visit if you're in the area.

Another of my reviews for Manitowoc area parks. Westfield is 5.09 acres pretty much in the center…read moreof Manitowoc. There is a softball field, a small playground, open areas and a fenced basketball court. There is also a concession building with bathrooms. The building and ball field are available for rent through the Parks Department. The number to call to rent the field is (920) 686-3060. A liitle history for ya'll. When I was a lad, the city used to flood the field in the winter to form one giant skating rink. After the lights were turned off at 2200 hrs, teenage boys and girls would chase each other around. We all learned it was tough to cop a feel when you had 5 layers of clothing on. Alas the city no longer does this due to liability lawyers and peoples' disinterest in physical exercise. Today it is still a nice urban park. It is in a safe neighborhood in a safe city. I've had some vicious pick-up basketball games there. There are open areas for picnicking and just lolling about. The playground is heavily padded with wood chips. So you don't have to worry about your children playing on the swings and playground equipment...too much. Not much to add. Oh yeah, dogs are allowed, just pick up their poop.

Yes, summer camp has bugs and tents and the great outdoors - I don't see that as a negative. There are plenty of summer camps that cater to all types of kids, including those that need internet and air conditioning in order to have a good time. My favorite part about the programming at Camp Anokijig is the amount of self-directed choices each camper gets to make, every day. Skills are chosen once they arrive at camp. There are multiple free periods each day, where all camp activities are fully staffed and the campers get to choose what they want to do. These campers get more age-appropriate independence and the opportunity to make their own decisions during one week at Camp Anokijig than they do anywhere else.
