Downtown Boise really does have it all. It's somehow able to combine tons of things to do in a small area while still keeping its (relatively) small town charm. In terms of sightseeing, entertainment, and family-friendly activities there is the Idaho State Capitol, Boise River Greenbelt, Julia Davis Park, Boise Art Museum, Idaho State Museum, and Zoo Boise. Summers are great when the weather is nice and people are walking around the various parks or on their bikes/scooters zooming around the town. During the night there are tons of restaurants, bars, and some places are open late which is nice. From cheap eats to fancy steakhouses, from happy hour spots to late night hangs, from dive bars to whiskey bars, from wineries to distilleries, there's going to be something for everyone. Boise as a whole but specifically downtown Boise has a mix of being part college town and part small town but big enough to have lots of activities for all ages. The biggest takeaway I got from the city is that it feels like a great place to raise a family.

Its a free activity to do right on the greenbelt near downtown Boise. Bring some cash to drop in their donation box or buy something in their cute gift shop to support this educational center ran by Idaho Fish and Game. All age and all physical-ability appropriate. The dirt paths outdoors are generally flat and loop in a circle back to the nature center. Definitely great if you have small kids as the indoors part is child-centered. The outdoors have viewing stations with windows built into the side of the streams going towards the Boise River. You have a unique perspective into the life in the stream. Some windows will have lots of fish or crayfish to see. If you stand on the benches below the windows, you can see the top and inside the stream. Its pretty unique. Another interesting area is the pond that has sturgeon fish. There is a cute bench that kids can lay on showing how big they are compared to an adult sturgeon. The butterfly garden was very pretty with many flowering pollinating plants. The day we visited at 12:30pm in about 95 degree heat, we saw no butterflies or bees buzzing about. To visit the nature center, you can park in their large parking lot, or enter from either Kristin Armstrong Park or arrive from the greenbelt.

I just love how everyone is doing their own thing, whether that's walking, strolling, biking, fishing, kayaking or even surfing! Yes that's right, there's a section where you can actually surf the stream.. how cool is that?! There a signs at the entrances that remind people not to be a "speed demon" and also signs warning about blind curves, which I very much appreciated. We rented those Lime electric scooters and were able to scoot nearly the entire path, which felt so epic and fun. Of course, we were mindful of pedestrians, bikes and foot traffic. One of my favorites parts of the path was when went past the Boise Zoo and saw not just one, but too giraffes poking their heads up at the trees. They were ginormous and even seems to acknowledge us with curious eyes and ears. What a special treat to have such an open, accessible and convenient public space right in the heart of a city!

It quite literally runs along the river and is absolutely stunning all the way through. From parks like Ann Morrison to Boise State's campus to where you drop in the river for floating at Barber Park. There is plenty to do along the Greenbelt. It is always fun to plan days going from hot spot to hot spot on a bike or on foot. It's also great to spend some time kicking it by the river at one of the Greenbelt's many hang out areas, especially during the summer.

Indigo loves this library…read more We have attended their Toddler Story Time a couple of times and I'm impressed. The first time, there was a guest appearance by a mama sheep and her two babies (so cute), silly songs, and of course story time. Indigo is mildly interested in story time and songs, but still seems to enjoy them. She's really there to make friends and play! After the stories, there is play time for the babies/toddlers and the friendly parents/gaurdians/grand people as well. I really like the fact that they have a separate "baby" room with baby/toddler books, toys, puzzles and etc. for kids. Kids can be kids and that is neat. There are lots of toddler/baby/kids programs and their calendar online is always full of fun educational activities and classes. Special thanks to Sarah and Molly for being fun welcoming hosts. Indigo highly recommend this place, 50 stars!

I love that they have bags you can check out to carry your books in! I was also pleased with their selection of YA books, as that is what I mostly read, particularly things that fall in the category of #WeNeedDiverseBooks. I was able to find a lot of diversity in terms of main characters of color, lgbtq main characters, etc. as well as a lot of #OwnVoices content. It's too far for me to go to now, but when I lived just down the street it was my main library and I loved visiting it.
