However, the quality of the product and the installers were top notch!! First, their lead hvac technician came to our house to gather all the info about our current unit, house sq. footage and number of vents. He spent about an hour and answered easily 50+ questions with patience, honesty and clarity! (I'm a big question asker with any repair person. How I'm responded to really matters to me!) The day of installation they came on time and worked tirelessly for most of the day only breaking for lunch. Again, we had more questions all answered with ease and respect. We were shown how to work new thermostat and they even set it up with our preferences. The workers always put booties on their shoes and everything was cleaned up upon departure. I love that it is a local family run company with a stable, long term staff who are highly knowledgeable and personable!

I hired Schumann Electric after looking at his overwhelming positive reviews to address panel…read moreconcerns. He reached out immediately, was professional in interactions and was prompt in his work. The work area was generally kept neat too. I found Schumann Electric expensive, but most trades are these days. Several years have past and I found myself having to troubleshoot several issues, including a dead GFCI. After confirming the GFCI was actually okay, I found that the neutral was open. I verified continuity through junction boxes and traced the issue back to the panel Schumann Electric replaced where he triple tapped the neutral / ground bar at this location. The neutral was open because it became loose. The wire had become hot due to the high impedance of the poor triple tapped connection. For those unaware, this is how fires start. A circuit breaker will not protect you with a high impedance / poor connection as it knows nothing about the nature of the load. It'll protect you from drawing too much current, but it knows nothing about if that current is turning into heat at a poor connection. This is why this is not allowed for most panels, including parts he installed. While in the panel, I found multiple instances of the neutral / ground bar being double or triple tapped. I also found a couple of instances of double tapped breaker hots - also not allowed. You can separately google this to confirm my statements. An investigation of metal junction boxes Schumann Electric installed showed that the box was not grounded. In installations with metal boxes, it is not enough to ground the receptacle - the box must be tied to ground too for safety and parasitic capacitance reasons. This is a small infraction compared to the multiple tapped bars and breakers, which were a clear danger to the fire safety of the house, it's occupants, and property. I expected better from a licensed electrician and for the steep money I paid. Not at all impressed. Infuriating really, considering the safety and property implications.

Had them at my house twice. First time, price didn't seem too bad. Minor job and I know some…read moreelectricians can be expensive. Second time, had them come to install some light fixtures. They broke one of the flush mount glass shades during install and didn't tell me. I thought I had heard something but assumed it was something much less severe and didn't notice it for a few days afterwards. Luckily I was able to get supplier to replace the glass dome free of charge. I didn't mention it to them because the supplier took care of it but there is NO WAY they weren't aware of what happened. They had another job cancel so I had them replace a bunch of fluorescent bulb "office" type fixtures in my basement. At my house for less than 6 hours, taking into account the cost of materials, I believe the hourly rate worked out to about $500+/hr per guy. Considering I gave them work to fill in many hours that were actually cancelled on them, I don't want to say they took advantage but I certainly didn't receive any consideration for what would have been a wasted afternoon. For the basement lights, I wasn't charged by the hour but a flat rate per light replaced which turned out to be outrageous. Also, they left me approximately 15-20 fixtures that I had to figure out how to dispose. The work was completed nicely but the way they charge is a bit crazy and the broken fixture and "good luck" with disposal were very disappointing. I'll look elsewhere next time.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me!…read more A few months ago, I called Done Right Plumbing for a clogged sink. The technician barely looked at the job for 30 seconds before giving me what I felt was an outrageous quote. After I posted a review, the owner contacted me and made things right, so I changed my review and decided to give the company another chance. Unfortunately, that was a mistake. I recently had an emergency and needed my sewer ejector pump replaced. The technician quoted me $3,571 just to replace the existing pump with a new one. I had already agreed to the replacement when he came back and told me the owner wanted to replace all of the existing piping as well because they said a 2-inch line was needed to meet current code. I said no--and thank God I did. I found the same pump at Harbor Freight for $119. I called another plumber, who installed it in about 45 minutes and charged me $250 for the installation. My total cost: $369. Done Right's quote: $3,571. Difference: $3,202. I understand that businesses need to make a profit and that emergency plumbing work isn't cheap, but there is a huge difference between $369 and $3,571 for the same basic pump replacement. I gave this company a second chance after the owner made things right the first time. After this experience, there will not be a third.

I wish I could give them TEN STARS! I cannot say enough great things about Middletown HVAC!!!…read more I provide more details below but the summary is that Middletown HVAC cares for your home like it is their own - such excellent and honest service! Bryan came out to our home twice during a snow storm to ensure our heat was taken care of. That is a level of kindness and commitment I have never seen before! We have a brand new HVAC system that is about 1 year old (installed by a big HVAC company - worst mistake we could have made). The unit has stopped working at least 4 times since its installation so I finally called Middletown HVAC yesterday because it stopped working again. I called at midnight and Bryan (HVAC expert) was at our house in less than 30 minutes! He installed a new thermostat and went on to another house for a repair. Mind you, a snow storm is coming and he was out repairing units for families until almost 2:45am! The next day we realized the new thermostat stopped working, which is indication that something was wrong with our initial HVAC install (done by another company). It is the middle of a snow storm and Bryan had a SNOW PLOW bring him back to our house in the morning to fix the issue. It turns out the prior company incorrectly wired the unit and the thermostat was frying itself. Bryan ordered the new part we needed, fixed the wiring issue and turned off the fuse to the HVAC to avoid a potential fire. He was so kind and explained every step of the repair and the issues he identified. Other companies said they couldn't send techs out for several days but Middletown HVAC had Bryan out twice in the snow! I honestly feel like they care for their customers' homes as if their own families lived there, which is such a rare thing to see!

I have never worked with Middletown HVAC but they responded very quickly to my project request I…read moreposted on Yelp. Their responsiveness made me feel like this is a project I want to hand to them plus their price quote was better than everyone else that got back to me. They quoted me $125 while everyone else had tossed $200-300 ballpark. We scheduled on my few days off so none of us would have to rush through this maintenance. I texted to confirm whether they were still coming down 24 hours prior to our appointment. No response. So I texted them again the same day to make sure he was still coming down. He finally responded and apologize. Then told me he'll be there in the afternoon. Mind you, we are a little further from each other but if the distance was a problem, he could've told me and I would've went with other options but again, the schedule was set. So I was already expecting him. It was starting to get late and still nothing back yet, so I texted again and ask if he would like to reschedule? He finally got back and said yes to rescheduling so since he seems busy, I told him to get back to me at his earliest convenience. It's now February 10th. Our date was January 26th. I still haven't heard from him yet. Not only did I feel like this was a bad tinder date, now the problem that I had with my water heater just became worst. The issue was a burnt smell from the water heater that requires a professional flushing. Now so it's prolonged some more, the heater has burnt right through. It went from a flushing to a whole replacement. I'm giving them one star for flaking out. Should've been more straight forward about not wanting to take the job because my $200-300 maintenance issue just sky rocket into well over $1000. Edit: It looks like the owner has responded and no, I'm not changing my review because there was a scheduling problem. I gave the company the right of way to give me a date because they seem like the busy one and I told them my complete date. I was waiting for them to get back to me about the date. When I hand a job to someone, I'm not going to look around until the company calls me and say that they cannot take the job. I was under the impression that they were still coming around. I have text messages that provide my communication process and the companies responsiveness. I'm not going to show it or anything because it's unprofessional. What else I find unprofessional is when a company text you after you wrote the review with a snarky tone, like I was the one who did something wrong. I'm definitely not recommending this company because if you give a little feedback, they make it seem like you were the problem. No thanks. Again, sorry maybe we were just not meant to work together but just take my feedback as something that you need improvement on. I'm the customer that you kept waiting. Not the other way around. That's the point of the review.
