Scatterbrain is a hidden gem. Yes, if it's a very busy day of week or holiday you will have a 20+…read moreminute wait for your food to come out but I sort of like...you know...talking to the people who I'm sitting with so it gives a great opportunity for that. If you have taste buds then this place will blow your mind with a changing seasonal menu, wide variety of specialty coffee/non coffee drinks and breakfast food that's a 10/10 every single time. I have been there about a dozen times and am never disappointed. They even offer Gluten-Free baked goods which my wife very much appreciates (Cream puffs on occasion which are my personal favorite). Very quaint atmosphere (rustic) with a tucked away book/game nook in the back perfect for kids while they wait.

Scatterbrain has lots of exterior parking and loads of history in the preserved building which previously operated as a general store. I thought for sure this would be an order at the counter type spot and was pleasantly surprised to learn there is a full serving staff and onsite roasting of coffee beans. Both breakfast and lunch is offered here along with a massive espresso coffee and non coffee drink menu including house made syrups. I enjoy the big variety and uniqueness of every item including the fresh baked goods like monkey bread, pickle salad, in house syrups and ice cream. Bonus: check out the interior gift items from earrings to coffee beans to apparel along with the hidden library nook which is great for kiddos and contains a lovely scrap book outlining the history and remodel of the space.

First time here. I was in Chippewa Falls to see some family and found this place right next to the…read moreChophouse where we had dinner the night before. It's a nice spot, with a large windowed storefront and inviting signage. Inside is a large open area with the order counter toward the rear. An old brick wall, metal lighting fixtures, and a tin ceiling give it a vintage vibe. There are café tables with metal chairs for small groups. The noise level is reasonable, and it's easy to have a conversation. They have an extensive coffee menu, including tea lattes. But the one thing that really stood out was the bakery selection. They have items called Cornetto, which look like croissants. I was told they're similar and used in similar ways (fillings, glazes, etc.). We ended up getting a coffee, a London Fog Tea Latte (little lavender, little vanilla, extra foam), a Custard Danish, and an Apple Almond Scone. It didn't take long to get our order, and everything was amazingly good. The London Fog was made with loose-leaf tea and steeped well. The pastries were fresh, large, and very yummy. Everything was also very reasonably priced (you spend way more than this in most places -- and that's not something I usually fixate on). Excellent experience. Friendly service, excellent food and drinks, great value, and a warm atmosphere. If I could make one suggestion, it would be the metal chairs -- I just didn't find them very comfortable. Definitely on the "come back to" list!

I ended up getting one of their specials, the eggs Benedict, and I did clarify while ordering that I would like a soft poached egg because I'm very disappointed when it comes out with no runny yolk. Sure enough, 30 minutes later, which seemed a little bit long for a diner, our food came out and my eggs were harder than a hard boiled egg. I asked them redo the eggs only so that I could start eating my hashbrowns in the enormous slab of ham, and she said it was going to take a while. (If it takes anyone a while to poach an egg, they're probably doing it wrong.) I was able to scoop my butchered eggs off, start eating my food, and sure enough within a few minutes I had properly soft poached eggs as a replacement. I hate to be that girl, but I made it very clear on the front end that the only kind of egg that I would expect for Benedict. They gave us our tickets to pay at their register upon exiting, and I do admit that I like the charm of an old-school actual written paper ticket and very affordable breakfast. I would come back here anytime, just maybe stick to their normal menu.

I only stopped at the counter, checked out the offerings, and picked up a few things to go. The place was nice and charming but the seating didn't look too comfortable. I walked in and saw you could either order on a large touch screen on with a person at the front. I don't mind touch screens, so I went to start my order. The problem is that there are no pictures... so you're not 100% sure what you are ordering. I stopped the order and walked over to the case to order with the employee instead. There was one woman in front of me and she got her items quickly. I ordered 5 items. (See pic below) All of them were fantastic! I really do judge a place by how well they can do a croissant, and this place does them very well!! The employees were very polite but for some reason my order took almost 15 mins to fill... I watched them pull the items from the case, so I'm not sure why it took them so long to do the order. There was only one other person who ordered after me and she had a drink and a box of pastries too... she received her items first. As for the space, it is bland and feels like an old Carribou coffee.... There really wasn't anything that felt "Paris or French" here. Very bland and not very cozy. If you plan on going(the food was very good) order it to go...
