I know that another friend got a tattoo at another place on Sydney road and it cost her to same amount even though it was even smaller than mine. They're a cool bunch of passionate tattoo artists, the place is really cool and set out really nicely. There's artwork hanging on the walls and everyone just seems real chill and happy with what they're doing. I love this place and if I ever get another tattoo, it'll be here.

I'm really happy with the work and that the staff turnover isn't high at all. There are a handful of studios in Melbourne that slot into the upper echelon of work, apparently Third Eye is in the ball park of Tattoo Magic and Chapel Tattoo. They encourage walk ins at Third Eye and this, these days, is a rarity. Their rates are highish and they do charge for drawing of custom work, but just go in and check out the quality and you'll see why it's a bit pricey. They have great gender balance here so there's none of that macho attitude you'll get at the biker shops. Plus, girls tend to have a bit of a lighter touch with the needle, so it doesn't hurt so bad. The shop is immaculate and the folk are super friendly. It's the kind of place you really want if you're a newbie to the world of tatt's. It's the kind of place you'd take your grandma.

I called them up and asked if they had time for a 'walk in', and the guy told me to come straight down. I popped in and showed him my design, and when I asked when he could so it, he said "Now." Half an hour later I left with a new work of art, and that was that. Having been in the game for a long time now, the owner knows his stuff, and the young guy who works alongside him seems to be quite popular too. Although I paid a lot more than usual, I put it down to the fact that since my last tattoo, this form of expression has become 'the new black' with everyone getting ink done these days.

Like most tattooists, first impressions of the staff can seem quite rough, however that's the business. You wont get a young kid who has only recently decided to cover himself in tattoos working here, as the guys at Obsession are professionals who have been in the game for many, many years.
