It is well placed, just past all the East Brunswick Restaurant area, and the tram stops right outside their door. There is plenty of great art on the walls to distract you during the process itself. It is cash only, so make sure you know how much you're potentially going to spend and bring the dollars accordingly.

I know that another friend got a tattoo at another place on Sydney road and it cost her to same amount even though it was even smaller than mine. They're a cool bunch of passionate tattoo artists, the place is really cool and set out really nicely. There's artwork hanging on the walls and everyone just seems real chill and happy with what they're doing. I love this place and if I ever get another tattoo, it'll be here.

I've had…read morethree appointments here, and each time I've left extremely satisfied with the service provided. Two of my sessions were for tattoo removal with Azra. Prior to these, I'd had about ten removal treatments at a clinic in London for three tattoos. At the London clinic, I always felt like just another number, rushed in and out with little care or attention. In contrast, every visit to Green Lotus has been the complete opposite. The staff have always shown me patience, kindness, and understanding--especially considering how painful removal sessions can be. As someone with fibromyalgia, my body reacts more intensely than most people's, but Azra has always been incredibly attentive to my needs, ensuring I'm as comfortable as possible. Even though I know the process will be painful, she does everything she can to make it more bearable, always treating me like a person rather than just another appointment. If I weren't moving abroad, I'd definitely continue my treatments here. Green Lotus is a clean, well-priced studio with a welcoming atmosphere. I couldn't recommend it more highly

My first tattoo here was by Nicole, who was great to work with. She has tattooed a few of my friends now and has been great every time. We headed back here during the Sydney Road Street Party for a flash tattoo day, which the shop does every year. All of the artists put together some new flash artwork for the day and it's first come, first serve. I got in first with Kane for a neat little hamburger tattoo and by the time we left they were already telling people the wait would be at least two hours. Outside of the hazardous locale, it's a relief to find a non-biker tattoo shop in an area which is canvassed with heavier style shops. These folk are mellow, helpful and approachable and are happy to work from flash art or to customise your ink. And there's a bottle shop at the slightly horrendous pub over the road, so you can wet your whistle when your done. It also looks like the council are investing a bit of money in fixing up the crash barriers, so there'll be no reason to fear for your life.

He was not comfortable with a client being specific about what they wanted. I found that surprising. I would have thought most people are specific about what they want tattooed. I made an appointment to see Rohan the following morning. I turned up on time, the receptionist let him know and he didn't appear. I waited. After ten minutes, the receptionist confirmed he knew I was there. I'd been told it was before he would be tattooing for the day so I don't know what the hold- up was about. I waited for fifteen minutes- no appearance, no explanation, so I just left. Two trips and I was unable to get just the basics organised. A total waste of time.

There are a handful of studios in Melbourne that slot into the upper echelon of work, apparently Third Eye is in the ball park of Tattoo Magic and Chapel Tattoo. They encourage walk ins at Third Eye and this, these days, is a rarity. Their rates are highish and they do charge for drawing of custom work, but just go in and check out the quality and you'll see why it's a bit pricey. They have great gender balance here so there's none of that macho attitude you'll get at the biker shops. Plus, girls tend to have a bit of a lighter touch with the needle, so it doesn't hurt so bad. The shop is immaculate and the folk are super friendly. It's the kind of place you really want if you're a newbie to the world of tatt's. It's the kind of place you'd take your grandma.
