I called this morning as my husband is a patient with Dr. Fletcher. My son had just returned from college and is having a few challenges. I figured they weren't taking new patients and just wanted to find out if they had a system, waiting list or recommendations for patients looking to land with them. The person who answered was not just rude but aggressively dismissive as if I interrupted her day and disturbed her and 7:35am in the morning m. I called early so that I'd have a bit of time to ask the questions. I know Dr. Fletcher to be a GREAT doctor however office staff commands the office experience before you ever get to the doc!! This is one of the worse practices in Delaware. The doctors do not listen to their patients Dr. Rubacky screamed at me. He said "I am not here at your beck and call" then hung up on me. Dr. Peters removed needed seizure medicine from my husband's care after it was prescribed by Penn Med after his brain surgery. My husband had a grandmal seizure which caused him to lose his ability to walk. Dr. Shah was responsible for halting feeding and wrongly prescribing medication for my husband while he was in the hospital. Because I complained about their harmful and inconsistent care, Dr. Patel kicked my husband, a bedridden patient out of their practice. He would not listen to me, and he didn't care. Awful practice. First, let me say, I have been a patient of this practice for for over 30 years, which includes a time when it was not called Dover Family Physicians. For the most part, I've always had great care here, was treated well by staff, and doctors. Yes, there were hiccups, but not serious ones. The only issues I've had were trouble getting appointments, but that is because they have so many patients. Any time I went to the ER, I would get a follow up call before I could call them to set up an appointment. Never had trouble getting a referral to a specialist if I needed one. My current doctor listens to me, and takes the necessary time to address all my problems -little and big ones. I have very complex medical issues, and I'm glad they are in my corner. read more

First of all let me say I miss Dr. Fredrick Brace he was our doctor when we (my daughter, and I) arrived to Delaware 4 years ago - so genuine, kind, and patient. Then we were blessed with Dr. Glenda Albizu, I've never met a Doctor more thorough. She is knowledgeable, consistent, direct, and covers everything. My family has used Dover Family Physicians for many years, we go back to the early 80's. Then and NOW we have been treated as good as anyone could expect. Our current doctor Sharad Patel is absolutely the best, any issues that we may have are treated with the utmost care. Long ago my doctor was Jerome Abrams, he was excellent too, but he left the practice and we moved to Sharad Patel, who was a step up in terms of patient care. One of the things I like and should expect is the sharing of information between my family physician and those other doctors that we use. Never had any problem between the offices, EXCELLENT! I read several messages that were not favorable to this practice and have to say I was shocked. ALL of the staff, especially those technicians that don't get much credit for their work have been totally patient friendly. Over the years I have seen all of the doctors and most of the PA's and the support staff and I am convinced that this has to be the BEST practice in Dover, probably the state and having lived in many states the best I have ever found. read more

The doctors in this practice do not work as a team even though they're in the same practice. My mom, who was their patient, was hospitalized numerous times throughout a 3-month period. Because the doctors rotate weekly hospital on-call schedules, every time a different doctor started a rotation they changed the course of my mom's treatment. A few doctors would call me with daily updates (this was during Covid, so the hospital had little/or no visiting hours) but one doctor was always rude and unprofessional - like I was a waste of time. During my mom's last hospital stay they did not discuss treatment options with the family but solely relied on my mom who was on medication and should not have to make medical decisions alone. read more

No matter who answers the phone they are helpful and get me an appointment as fast as possible! All of the Drs, PAs,Nurses,Techs, and every one else I didn't mention are the BEST!! DFP has provided primary care for us for decades. They try to stay on top of all the changes to insurances and do a pretty good job with that, I think. Staff are usually professional and competent. Appointments are sometimes a little difficult to schedule, but they always see you quickly if you are having a real problem. read more

This is the worst doctors office in Dover. I hurt my back and came in and specifically told PA Fiase that my entire lower body was numb and tingling but I had no pain. He didn't even listen to me and told me things like "just stretch and take Motrin for the pain" I don't know how many time I told him I was in ZERO pain, yet he kept mentioning I was. I come back two weeks later and my symptoms have improved slightly but still remain: when I told him both of my legs and feet still felt numb he said "both of them?" as if I didn't say that repeatedly at my first appointment. Then he tried to prescribe me a medication for seizures. I probably have some kind of nerve damage that is only worsening because this place is full of incompetent people. Today I called and asked PA Michelle Brown if she could refer me to some kind of specialist. She asked me what specialist I wanted to see. I said I don't know because I don't know what's wrong with me and no one has any answers either, but obviously I need to see some kind of nerve or spine specialist. She was rude and said she would call me back and never did. Also the receptionist named Chrissy is a real b**** and always answers the phone so rudely, I even apologized for calling twice in one day because I was just trying to get ahold of the PA who treated me and she was giving me the worst attitude. I've never spoken to a receptionist who was so bitter, usually they're very cheerful and want to help but she spoke to me as if I was calling every single day. I've waited 2 weeks to find out what's wrong with me so I'm fed up and I wanted answers and she was just as unhelpful as the stupid PA's. They shouldn't have such a miserable person working at the front desk if they want to keep their imagine in tact. read more

I have used Dover Family for a long time. Dr Patel is my primary doctor there and he is great. I have nothing but good things to say about them. Even during the busy times its easy to get an appointment to be seen. Having the Blood Lab in the office is a huge plus. I highly recommend them as a primary care office. read more

I cannot think of a single bad thing to say about Dover Family Physicians. I switched to DFP after being very unhappy with my previous drs office. I am so glad I did! What a difference!! All the staff has been very kind and has truly listened to what I was saying. I have never had a problem getting in to be seen, and they have done a fabulous job taking care of me for ongoing well care and for some pretty serious health issues I have faced. Dr Shah is my primary, and I must say that she is very thorough when looking into a problem. She is an excellent diagnostician. I called this office around October 2014 to make an appointment for a physical as I recently relocated to the area and my boyfriend had used this office for years. First they wouldn't allow me to even make an appointment until I filled out a mess of paperwork so they could obtain my prior medical records. Totally unnecessary, but whatever. I complied. They don't accept email so I had to physically drop it off - a hassle when working M-F and they aren't open on weekends. It took months for them to obtain my records and no one kept me updated on the status, I had to keep calling. This really should have been my first clue how disorganized and terrible the staff is. When they finally got my prior records from my other provider, I was told they had appointments available, but for a physical I would need to wait until January of 2015. This caused me to go into a new year which reset my health insurance deductible of $350. Still, I set the appointment and waited. I finally went in and the doctor was great. That is the only reason for the one star. She took her time, was friendly, and seemed like she cared. The rest of the nightmare begins with billing. The office sent paperwork to Labcorp with the incorrect diagnosis codes, which caused me to receive a $400 bill for what was otherwise 100% covered. When I called the doctors office, I spoke with someone named Holly who tried to convince me that my health insurance company was wrong and basically almost refused to resubmit the claim properly. After 20 minutes of arguing, she finally agreed and I was told to bring in the information - again - another trip and time off work for their mistake. When I did bring the information in as requested, they said I brought in the insurance claim form and they needed the lab corp bill, which was never explained to me. So I had to wait and make yet another trip in!!!! No longer trusting the competency of the staff, after a couple weeks I contacted lab corp, who told me that the doctors office had called in with the correct code and labcorp added it to the claim and resubmitted the claim. However, when Lab Corp told the doctors office that they had to submit the request in writing to delete the incorrect code, no one ever did. So lap corp resubmitted the claim with the correct and incorrect code. The doctor was great, but my experience with the staff was terrible. As is their policy of requiring prior medical records. I doubt I will ever return and I can't imagine how they keep customers unless my experience was unique. Judging from the other reviews on here though, I doubt it. It must be there are few doctors around here so you can get away with being terrible. read more

From the start of my contact with dover family physicians, I had a weird feeling. I called about making an appointment as a new patient and they told me that I couldn't make an appointment until I had my previous doctor from a different state send them my records and until I faxed them a release form (I have never had to do this before to see a doctor). So I did it and made an appointment. After waiting for a bit in the doctors office, the physicians assistance came in. She has no bedside manner and a cold personality. Everything I said, she had a negative comment or a contradicting comment that made me feel like I was this small ... When we were finished she gave me paperwork for lob work, without any details, and some confusing bit about ordering medication online through my insurance provider. When I stated I didn't the distributor my insurance used but that I had my prescription card, she said that she didn't need that and that I'd have to figure it out and let them know. I felt rushed and confused. I will never go back there. This girl needs a lesson in compassion and patience or get a new career. As a new patient and new to the area, I was less than pleased. read more

The office is overall not friendly and provided incorrect information. They stated that they were an in network provider and later found out they were not. My husband wanted a well visit and it took him 3 visits and a lot of lab work for a well visit. It ended up costing us over $500 for what should have been covered on our insurance. The doctor wanted my husband to think something was wrong with him so that they could prescribe medicine he did not need. I would caution anyone who is thinking about using them. read more
