I went to this spa using a voucher from Wahanda for a friend and me to go for a 2 for 1 Pure Relaxation Spa Day Experience. The wet facilities were superb with a huge Jacuzzi, Sanarium, Salt inhalation room and Aroma steam room. They also sported a pool, ice chute and some very unusual showers. Slippers and robes were provided as well as lots of lovely fluffy towels. The treatments were in warm relaxing rooms and the beauticians were well informed and professional. I came away gleaming from head to toe (I sampled a mini massage, facial and pedicure), feeling serene and with the impression that I had seen how the other half live. My only criticism was that the restaurant was a little pricey (our vouchers included lunch which was actually a set price lunch voucher, so we had to spend more) but I would highly recommend the pumpkin salad which was extremely tasty. All round this was a thumbs up from me.

Spa and gym membership is £90/ mth and include access to steam room, sauna, solarium, and even a snow room, which is quite novel. There is a hyrdropool which is good for relaxing in, but sadly no swimming pool. Membership includes discounts in the hotel restaurants and 2x guest passes for the year to treat friends. Overall the facilities are pleasant and the staff are nice, however the price is quite high, but then if you attend regularly it is worth it.

Not only do you have to get a card you have to sign in. Sometimes you get in line and wait! Who needs that extra hassle. Then when you leave, you have to go back to the 3rd floor and get the card with your name on it again. Wait, wait, wait. - they don't listen! The staff at the counter don't take any notice of issues in the gym. - no one cleans up the gym during the day - so towels are laying around, weights lying everywhere - no liquid cleaner or paper in the dispensers to clean the equipment before and after you use it - yuch. I asked 4 times, then finally brought the liquid bottles to the counter on the other floor for them to refill. Seems they can't be bothered - machines don't work and stay that way. Not regularly maintained. Signs sit on them for ever. - lots of the tv screens don't work - the room itself is really quite small yet they charge £65/month - the steam room and sauna are not part of the gym membership - you have to pay a lot extra to enter the spa area. - the staff use the changing rooms as their changing rooms! Not cool. - the music OMG they either have no music or they put it on a radio station and turn it up loud. Ever try to work out with someone's voice talking loudly on and on - not music but the chat in between. Really cheap. - If you talk to the manager, Ludmela, she just says, "It's policy" to go through the sign-in/out regamorole. Yes, they are looking for someone to look after the gym! I was offered a drink of ice cold lemon water which was greatly appreciated as this so-called spa and 'place of retreat' had NO air-conditioning. Anyway.... I am shown upstairs and seated as the hairdresser is running 15 minutes late. I am told that the appointment would take about two hours, although when they phoned to rearrange my appointment they told me it would only take an hour??! The place was so hot at least two other customers commented on it too. The music playing in the background was rather un-spa like, I learned later it was the hairdressers iPod playing. Whilst waiting for my dye to take, I spotted Boots mousse... high-class establishment?? I think not. I was then taken to have my hair washed (where they did have spa-like music playing) and the lady washing it kept sighing heavily. This was making me feel uncomfortable on a few levels- was the dye an issue, was my hair falling out (as I wasn't offered a skin test), was she just fed up with the fact that she was lumbered washing my hair. The Balinese head massage was really just a massage which I get when they wash my hair at my usual salon. Nevertheless it was relaxing and she did a good job. The haircut was .... ok. We agreed on a simple cut. She tidied it up and gave it some style at the front (in itself confusing when we misunderstood each other) although I am not totally convinced it's symmetrical (it's supposed to be). She didn't tidy my layers which definitely needed it. I wouldn't return, I wouldn't recommend it. I would say that it is newly opened and the hairdresser said they were having a few 'teething issues'. Let's hope that their other branches are a little more professional given their location and pricing. If you're going to sample it, wait for a promotional 70%+ off.

If they look good, I figure I will look good. However, my stylist spent most of the time talking to his very good friend, the other stylist, about something they didn't want to share with me. I could hear whispers and they were trying to make the conversation obscure so that I couldn't tell what they were talking about. I thought it was rude. There was a stylist in a chair getting her hair done by another stylist. Then, there was some sort of photo shoot of the salon. I was not happy about this, as I did not consent to being in publicity photos, especially not with wet colour on my hair. I felt uncomfortable. The stylist was messy in the application of colour to my hair. I have blotches where there is no colour. The best part of my experience was a nice girl who brought me a coffee and the shampoo massage was quite nice. Also, the voucher said I would receive a treatment, but I think all they mean by that is that after shampooing, they will condition your hair. Overall not the best experience. The stylists need to focus on the customer. I think that this salon has a lot of room to improve. I think it would be worth going back in 6 months time to see if anything's changed.

I was expecting a quick appointment, a half arsed application of eyelashes and an average tidy-up of my brows. Instead, I found a really considerate group of beauticians and hairdressers who are led by the very kind manageress (whose name I can't remember, but I think it begins with Z...). A friend joined my Wowcher.com experience, and also booked a colour/cut. She paid a mere 43 for her hair, and our eyelashes cost another 40 with the voucher. The manageress is a sweet little Iranian woman, whose three daughters also work in the spa/salon. After a little kerfuffle, she began doing my eyelashes, chatting to me about all number of topics, and taking a solid hour to apply individual lashes. By the end of the appointment, I looked hot. Not just average post-salon hot, but actually hot. Eyelash-fluttering, groomed-brow raising, I was about to leave for lunch (see my review of Bardolino), when I noticed two clients with their feet in fish tanks. The manageress said they were doing a promotion for Garra Rufa fish pedicures (just 15 pounds for half an hour), and I couldn't help but say YES. If you've never had a fish pedicure before, be ready for a very unusual sensation. It's not painful or uncomfortable or even a ticklish sensation, just... odd. The fish tanks were cleaned between each pedicure (don't worry, you won't be sticking your feet in anyone else's dead skin!), and my feet were surprisingly smooth afterwards. There was no rush to leave, and all the staff seemed happy to chat. It's clearly a happy place to work, and I am definitely going to come back. The only flaw, and the only reason I reduced my review rating by one star, is their organizational skills. While I appreciate any new business takes time to get on its feet, and no doubt the Wowcher offer led to a huge increase in appointment requests, I arrived at the spa after an hour on the tube to find a voicemail message telling me they had to reschedule the appointment. It turns out their staff member called in sick, but I should have been informed about this more than an hour in advance. Moreover, the appointment was rescheduled for the same day, just an hour later, but it took a good twenty minutes for my beautician to set up the room and ensure she had the right lashes for me. The quality of the service was not compromised, but I have a feeling Pampering Palace will need to tighten up their appointment system/organization if they want to succeed on Chiswick High Road. Their prices are by far the best along the high street, but locals won't return if they continue to struggle with their appointment calendar. NB: Do look for more discount vouchers for Pampering Palace on the web before you go -- if you can't find anything, try calling them up and seeing if they'll give you an ad hoc package deal. I saw three customers wrangle discounts while I was at the salon -- definitely worth a shot!

The changing rooms are well kept and you are provided with towels and toiletries. And ladies not only does the changing rooms have blow dryers but also GHD hair straightners which was suprising. The changing rooms are linked to the sauna, showers and then the swimming pool. I usually just go swimming in the gym because the pool is the only one is london that has a low percentage of chlorine and is actually warm not freezing like most swimming pools. The swimming pool has about 6 lanes which is perfect for laps. Membership can be a little pricey but is worth it without a doubt.
