So thankful for Drs. LeGrand and Murphy. Dr. LeGrand was my primary OB/GYN during my pregnancy and…read moreI so appreciated her. Appointments with her were short and sweet, which meshed really well with me as I can be somewhat of an over-thinker if I'm given anything but a short and simple answer to my questions. I had one appointment with Dr. Murphy toward the end of my pregnancy, so that I could meet him in case he was the on-call doctor during my delivery (which he ended up being). My little one didn't want to cooperate, and after hours of pushing, Dr. Murphy suggested a vacuum-assisted delivery to avoid c-section. I had heard horror stories and felt uneasy at the idea, until hearing his experience and success with said delivery method. My not-so-little baby was delivered safely in just a matter of seconds after the vacuum came into play. Dr. Murphy checked up on us the next day, which was very nice! My 2-week postpartum appointment was with him as well, while my 6-week postpartum appointment was with Dr. LeGrand, which was nice so I could say goodbye and thank her for all she had done leading up to meeting my baby. As other reviews mention, yes, it can be quite difficult to get a response to a voicemail, so I found it best to just keep calling until I was able to reach somebody. But all in all, I would definitely choose this clinic again, if not for the fact that I no longer live in Oregon!

I'm glad I found dr Murphy, he was absolutely amazing through my whole pregnancy. He took his time to sit and talk and explain everything in great detail. His bedside manner was great and knew how to make you feel comfortable. I ended up having my miracle baby and I think a lot had to do with dr Murphy's expertise. I would recommend him a million times over!! Thank you Dr Murphy!

I originally booked for 2:30 p.m., but I was kindly asked to reschedule earlier. I adapted my schedule and moved my appt to 1 pm. When I shook hands with Dr. Skotte, the first thing he asked for was a printed MedXPress document. I told him I had my confirmation number, as required by the FAA. He immediately showed frustration that I did not bring a printed copy. I was confused because the only FAA instruction I received stated: "You will need to provide your confirmation number," which has always been sufficient with every DPE I have worked with. He then told me it would cost an extra 20 dollars to print one page and later corrected himself to 25 dollars. I thought he was joking and asked for clarification, but he said the fee was stated on his website. Since I booked through an external link, I had never seen these instructions. He became increasingly disrespectful, pressuring me to show him the instructions and getting upset when I showed him the FAA's guidance. He continued accusing me of not following his website instructions, raising his voice, and lecturing me about not knowing how to follow simple instructions and even about the kind of pilot I must be. It was completely unprofessional and unnecessary. He also complained that I was making him late for his next patient while repeatedly pressing me to pay the fee. At this point, I chose to end the appointment. I need a medical examiner who shows basic respect and customer service skills. After leaving, I looked him up and found multiple complaints filed with the Oregon Medical Board, including a history of unprofessional conduct, negligence, and malpractice. His medical license was suspended in 2007 and was placed on a ten-year probation. Given his behavior, none of this was surprising.

Dakota set a gentle, mellow mood throughout the birth. She used essential oils and music to keep the hospital room as homey and relaxing as possible. She gave gentle coaching as needed, helping me to move through positions and stay calm. She helped my partner to take care of himself, too, which meant that he could be there for me when I needed him.  Dakota was invaluable in helping us meet our goal of a peaceful birth with no medical interventions. Dakota is wonderful when things are going well, but she is also incredible when things go wrong. Towards the end of our birth, my baby's heart rate dropped dramatically.  The OB realized that my placenta was detaching and I needed to push my baby out FAST. Dakota quickly switched modes from gentle to focused coaching -- she helped me to breathe and push efficiently but calmly, and my sweet baby came out safely two contractions later.  Without Dakota's help, I don't know if we would have had as good of an outcome.   Dakota helped us to have a hospital birth that felt like a home birth.  She provided amazing support before, during, and after.  I feel very lucky to have had her help and support.  I can't imagine a better doula.

This was my second baby, and with my first I didn't have a doula and tried to have an unmedicated birth but had various complications. It left me somewhat traumatized, I wasn't sure I could do it the way I wanted, and very fearful for another "emergency" situation. My goal with hiring Madeline was to overcome this fear and have a healing and successful ideal birth. And she facilitated that perfectly, beyond my expectations! I knew I needed help with pain management #1, and felt confident in Madeline's approach to help me with that. What I didn't expect was how extremely comforting and helpful she was in the weeks prior birth. I was able to text her questions, worries, concerns, and she always reassured me and calmed my nerves. She was always there for me when I needed her. I ended up having my dream birthing experience - completely unmedicated and natural, and I very much credit this to Madeline's assistance and calming presence throughout the birthing. She helped me through every contraction, and created a relaxed environment. She came to our home for multiple visits, including a post-partum visit, and she provided an awesome "peanut" ball, essentials oils, and other very helpful tools. I would emphatically recommend Madeline for any woman looking for emotional and physical support during birth and prior. She's the best! If I have another baby - I am definitely hiring her asap! My husband and I are both SO grateful for her. She is knowledgable and passionate about what she does. I paid $75 for 3 hours of in-home classes where we learned what to expect at the hospital (paperwork, what vaccinations/shots/procedures they'll try to give the baby, what I can say "yes" and "no" to, how to make a birth plan), what to physically and mentally expect during labor and postpartum, and how to reach her with questions if needed. She even helped me get more info on labor and delivery with Gestational Diabetes. My husband also felt at ease with her and we really appreciated her coming to our house so we didn't have to make an extra trip out. She even sent us a really sweet card of encouragement and thanks afterward. Thanks so much, Maddy! I'd recommend her in a heartbeat.
