The class gave us both - birthing mom + partner - practical things to do before, during, and after childbirth, and the class was worth every penny. I loved the mix of Hanai/in person and Zoom, and being able to meet other couples in a similar stage. I'd absolutely recommend any class with BABI to those going through their first pregnancy, and even subsequent births. As as second time mom, I was on the fence…read moreabout hiring a doula since I had already experienced labor.  I am so happy that I chose to have Dakota at my birth! Dakota set a gentle, mellow mood throughout the birth. She used essential oils and music to keep the hospital room as homey and relaxing as possible. She gave gentle coaching as needed, helping me to move through positions and stay calm. She helped my partner to take care of himself, too, which meant that he could be there for me when I needed him.  Dakota was invaluable in helping us meet our goal of a peaceful birth with no medical interventions. Dakota is wonderful when things are going well, but she is also incredible when things go wrong. Towards the end of our birth, my baby's heart rate dropped dramatically.  The OB realized that my placenta was detaching and I needed to push my baby out FAST. Dakota quickly switched modes from gentle to focused coaching -- she helped me to breathe and push efficiently but calmly, and my sweet baby came out safely two contractions later.  Without Dakota's help, I don't know if we would have had as good of an outcome.   Dakota helped us to have a hospital birth that felt like a home birth.  She provided amazing support before, during, and after.  I feel very lucky to have had her help and support.  I can't imagine a better doula.

Within minutes of my first session with Dr. Dishman I knew she was a true gem. She was someone whom I could trust and someone who had the utmost integrity and passion in her work and her need and drive to help the people around her permeated throughout her whole being - inside and outside of the clinic. My husband began as a patient of Dr. Dishman's in 2010. His cholesterol and general health was way…read moreout of the normal, healthy range. He had IBS symptoms and deep vein pain in his legs when walking for any distance. His seasonal and pet allergies were out of control. At 36 years of age, he faced the choice of being put on a multitude of drugs from his primary care physician, or, as he described it, taking his body into his own hands and getting down to the business of truly becoming healthy. After one visit with Dr. Dishman his life was changed. She prescribed an anti-inflammatory diet and ordered blood tests. His blood work revealed sensitivities to a multitude of foods. He cut them out of his diet and began to feel better immediately. He lost over 20 pounds, his blood lipid panel came back fantastic, and he was no longer even allergic to cats!
