Worst decision. Fast forward I always get food stuck in between that and the tooth beside it since it's not smooth. So my new dentist here in MO has worked on the tooth beside it bunch due to cavities and messed up the crown adjacent then told me we needed to pull it. That ticked me off because here I am looking at pulling a tooth I have never had an issue with AND it's slowly killing the one next to it too. I said no I wanted a second opinion and he sent me here. I told the doc my story and he said he would do his best to save it even though he thought the tooth had less than a 50% chance of succeeding but I wanted to try. It was a long appointment and he had some challenges but I was comfortable throughout the procedure and 3 years later I still have my tooth. I don't have the same problems getting food stuck alongside the crown anymore either which has bought some time for the tooth next to it as well. If I ever have to have any more detailed work done in my mouth I expect to return to this practice in St Joe. They are a good one!

First let me say that there are too many workers at the front desk, (at least 7 different ladies),…read moreeach with one particular job focus. Which many of these jobs could be multi tasked to condense them into 2 to 3 ladies at the front desk. I have never in my life seen a dentist office so broken up into all these 7 jobs for 7 different workers to do. For example, a lady to explain the cost to you, another to take your insurance, 2 others to check you in and take information paperwork, another lady to check you out, another lady to give you the tour of the office that you didn't ask for, etc. This is not even counting the multiple ladies in the back who are dental hygienists to hygienists' helpers, where's that dentist again? Yeah, you barely see Dr. Hughes and she's gone to another patient. Now Dr. Hughes herself seems like a very competent dentist but because this office seems to pack patients in like a car wash, there is no personal attention to the patient or getting to know the person. Having another lady worker come in and write down saying quickly 'give me 2 things you like to do in your spare time?' and then she says, 'ok bye' and off she goes. This is a very impersonal environment where workers pretend to be personal but are not. The only worker that was semi personal and was with me most of the time, was the hygienist helper. Again, having workers state that they have multiple contests for prizes to win, when you come back or refer someone else to them, is again ridiculous. This line of thought is trained to a "social economic low class lottery winning type of mentality." And to anyone else it implies "that possibly we'll use low grade material to fill your cavity and that you'll have to come back within a few months to a year to get it redone again." This does not leave you with a feeling of confidence in that dentist and their workers. After experiencing this office environment, I understand now that most of these reviews here on yelp and on their website are made up by friends who know the main Dentist Dr. McGraw. This was my first time going to this office. I mistakenly chose this office based off these reviews and so scheduled my visit 3 weeks in advance. Lastly, the dentist gave me an overdose of Lidocaine for one single tooth which lasted for 12 hours and went up my skull and completely numbed by whole ear. The next 3 days I couldn't eat without severe nerve pain where my whole jaw throbs painfully, which has caused me to take multiple Ibuprofen everyday. After a week, the throbbing has subsided but chewing food is tiring and a sore jaw by the end of the day. I can only suspect 2 things, first, there was waaaayyyy too much Lidocaine administered. The second thing is that the first Hygienist filled my cavity and then after the dentist checked it, Dr. Hughes didn't like how it was done so she redid it! Now if it wasn't done correctly then I'm glad she redid it. But there was no communication with me that this tooth was going to be redone as I sat there with wedges and pliers in my mouth yet again! Because of my jaw being left stretched and open for such a long period of time the entire jaw was horribly sore for over a week. These ladies didn't consider the long term painful effects of how this would affect my life for the next week and a half. I too have a career, a life, and kids and all this caused a lot of domino effects of having to cancel work and schooling because of intense pain. So unless you are getting a simple teeth cleaning, I would pass on this office and their staff. **Note: To have a better run office, it needs better communication with the patients and the staff, less gossip within staff (that means keep private life separate from work life), less caddy snide remarks or come backs among the hygienists especially toward the dentist. Otherwise, all the ladies where very kind to the patients and to me that I experienced.

Bad experience for our college student…read more They did no visual evaluation and gave the impression they did not look at our dentists x-rays. I learned this after we flushed $235 down the toilet for their special x-ray. They require the special x-ray before they will do a root canal and it is not covered by our very good insurance. I give them credit for asking me to come back in for a better explanation for why they did what they did but it was post x-ray and payment. HOWEVER, our oral surgeon said he could tell it was an unlikely save based on his visual examination and our first dentist x-rays. They have a state of the art x-ray machine but if you go there ask lots of questions before the expensive and likely not covered by insurance x-ray.

After i called back she was rude and condescending, Then claimed I owed over $179 from the prior $132. I politely ask her is there any way you can work with me and let me pay the $132 since that's what you told me it was at first . She's smartly replied well if you did just pay it the first time we would've known the difference . I said ma'am, I'm a disabled veteran and is there anything you can do to help me out today? She said I can divide up the payments So what you're going to do for a disabled military and put his life on the line for you to sit there and run your mouth , is divided up into payments. Terrible business practices Would not recommend anyone to go there and if you do make them sign something when you go to check out saying that whatever you pay them is the final payment or they will absolutely try to add more money later on down the road It should be illegal what they're doing in their billing Department . Absolutely shameful to treat a disabled military veteran this way

After thorough testing, Dr. Miranda determined that my tooth had normal sensitivity and did not need a root canal after all. What impressed me most was Dr. Miranda's honesty and attention to detail. She explained that because the root is so close to the nerve, attempting a root canal could very likely cause permanent numbness in that area of my face. Instead of performing an unnecessary procedure, she took the ethical and professional approach and advised against it. I truly appreciate the thoroughness, honesty, and professionalism at Cornerstone Endodontics. Highly recommend.

Like other reviews I was told I had to pay in full or set up a payment plan through one of their payment plan options. We have three insurances to cover my son's dental. I set up the payment plan for a service in April it is now August. Primary insurance paid (in-network) which reduced the total amount owed from 4,400 to 1,400 per my plan. Secondary insurance paid as primary and it has taken months to get that sorted out. I have now paid 1,800 in total (over the price of what primary says is owed by me). Corner stone refuses to stop the payment plan and continues to charge me over $400 a month. They have stated that they cannot contact the payment plan since it's third party to adjust or stop payments. I have verified this is not true with Cherry (the payment plan provider offered by cornerstone). They continue to charge me over the amount primary insurance says is owed while secondary insurance reprocesses and they then send to our third insurance. I have not asked for a refund and understand they need to process through all insurances, however the fact that I could be charged an additional 900 while they wait feels unethical. I have never experienced this with another health or dental provider.
