It was strangely quiet in the California Ave area, and I cruised around trying to get closer to where I wanted to be. SPACES (3 stars): Average size, but a little on the small side. NAVIGATION (2 stars): Someone please tell me, WHY must we drive on The Left? It's bizarre and rather dangerous, as I've seen drunk people not quite sure how to handle those turns. Even sober it can be daunting. It's not a big deal as long as no one is going in the opposite direction. But as soon as you add someone else to the mix, everyone tenses up. You can see the fear in their eyes. PRICE / HOURS (4 stars): Free, but a 2-hour time limit and NO parking from 2:00-6:00 am, unless you are a permit holder. VERDICT: 1. I really don't like playing with death in this British-inspired parking lot. I've adapted to driving on The Left for this parking lot, but what about newbies who unknowingly park here? Scary. 2. Who designed this place?! Perhaps Sunnyvale's parking lot designers somehow got their paws on this project. That would explain a lot.

Yes, I had to drive around a couple of times to find a spot, that I was confident that I could get into. I even, moved my car to an easier spot, after I'd parked and left my car. But, the upside? I came back to my car and it was still there. No windows were broken. No one tried to open my trunk. I could take the elevator upstairs and exit the building. The same one I used to re-enter the building, once I'd found it. The only issue? Well, I had to back out of my space (luckily, I'd parked next to a handicapped parking access aisle, so I could get into my car just fine. But, I had to pull out of the space for my husband to get in. A non-issue and another reason I was grateful. So, I'd look for a spot here just because and that's fine with me.

I have come to learn that the building owners sought a "vision" and pushed out previous stores here to have what it does now. Each store front pushes mute colors, I walk into a store $600 for the most boring top I have ever seen, and this carries on through each and every store here. Not to mention, a lot of the stores push concerning stereotypes and visions of women's bodies. There's a select few stores I love here, Outerknown (you are awesome) and Aesop, are what keeps me coming back - other than that, it's a sad shopping experience and I actually really enjoy shopping at a lot of malls.
