I had a very disappointing experience here on Christmas Eve while seeking urgent care. I have…read moreprivate insurance (BCBS PPO) that covers urgent care visits, yet I was told at the front desk that I needed to pay $250 upfront because my insurance was "out of network" and my deductible hadn't been met. During this interaction, the front desk staff asked me what my "preferred language" was even though I was speaking clearly in English the entire time and never used another language. The question felt unnecessary and inappropriate, and I have serious doubts that this is asked of every patient. Because I was confident my visit should only require a $50 copay, I chose to leave. What stood out most was how quickly my ID was handed back without any attempt to verify the insurance information, consult a supervisor, or offer to bill me later especially given that the waiting room was completely empty. I then went to another Banner Health location on Drake Rd and was immediately told that I was in network and that my deductible had already been met. This raises serious concerns about how insurance verification is handled at this location and whether assumptions are being made about patients. I would not recommend this location based on my experience.

My experience dealing with Village Medical in general has been negative star worthy but this place just adds cherries to the shit sundae. I was referred here on May 3rd by the Foxtrail clinic for chest x-rays. The experience getting the x-rays itself was a B-. Assumptions about what sort of clothing I'm wearing (and thus my gender), having to advocate for myself needing my spouse with me due to severe medical PTSD. But it was fine other than that. What made this a negative-star worthy experience was fighting to get a copy of my x-rays, which I have a legal right to. I started asking for them the following week and didn't get them until the 19th of July because they kept running me in circles and they kept producing more and more paperwork to fill out so my spouse could pick them up for me. And, to top it off, it's on a CD. Who even uses CDs anymore? Modern computers do not come with CD trays. I'm going to have to go to the library and see if there's anything even on the disc then rip it all off, which I'm not thrilled about since this is private medical information we're talking about. This place is terrible. I think you'd be better off going to a veterinary clinic than going here.

The office staff however, is another story. They refuse to do simple things like following up with insurance to get prior authorizations for medications they prescribed. I have one medication that was prescribed 2 months ago that they still haven't submitted the paperwork for. When I called to tell them that insurance still hadn't received the paperwork, and to ask that they send a new prescription to the pharmacy so I could buy it out of pocket (because I actually need the meds...) they intentionally hung up on me. Several weeks later, they sent me a letter in the mail saying they are dropping me as a patient. I guess they only take patients that don't require paperwork. I recognize that those of us with chronic illnesses are more work, but that doesn't mean we deserve to be dropped just because some of our medications require prior authorizations. Also, if you're considering David Ottolenghi (the other doctor at the practice) beware, he doesn't believe in vaccines... I sure wouldn't want a doctor who trusts politicians over science.

Not as much as my Dr. He delivered 3 of my 4 children. The ladies up front are great. The office is so clean. The bathrooms are super clean. Love that they still have some kids toys in the waiting room. Love now how they have other people who can answer questions without waiting to hear back from the nurse. And the lady who does preops for meds for insurance is wonderful. I have dealt with her through the years and she is funny and super super helpful. Love the remodeled office too. Since the switch to the corporate "Village Medical" things have gone badly downhill. Getting appointments is a challenging process as all phone calls go to third parties not even located in the US. You can never speak to your local staff or office personally. Today I took my toddler in for his appt for an acute sickness and they turned me away because we are in between insurance plans. Although we were happy to pay out of pocket that is against their policies. This tells me they care more about getting big bucks from insurance companies than in caring for their patients. Not sure where I can take my sick toddler now, since we are refused care. As you can see from other reviews nobody is happy with Village Medical and the docs here should find new clinics to practice at asap since all us clientele are going to be leaving due to the poor administrative and customer care. Carrie Reynolds, let us know where you decide to move your practice and we'll follow you there!

The billing department, however, is horrible. I took my son in for a visit on 3/31/2021 and when the visit was completed I asked if there was a copay and was told no. Now a month later we received a bill in the mail for the $20 copay along with a $5 statement fee. Sure $5 is not much, but they were incorrect in saying that there was no copay due at time of service. Not wanted to pay a fee for something we were not responsible for, my wife contacted the clinic and spoke to Joely who claimed to be the manager. Joely was rude. She also claimed to have sent out a previous invoice for the copay but the alleged invoice was never received. She refused to acknowledge their error in not accepting a copay at the time of service when we tried to pay it. It is too bad that this otherwise fine clinic can be so thoroughly ruined by the incompetence and rudeness of a single person.
