I spent two weeknights at the Hilton DoubleTree in East Memphis on Sanderlin. It is the absolute best place to stay in the entire area. It is convenient to Clark Tower and White Station Tower, and there is a ton of nearby shopping in Eastgate as well as around the Sanderlin area. The hotel staff goes above and beyond to make sure everything is excellent. From Larry at the front desk to Yolanda on the cleaning staff and Maggie at the checkout and even the security guard, I felt so welcome. They could not seem to do enough for me. You can tell that this property has been carefully designed and run to be a five-star experience at an excellent value. I would highly recommend this DoubleTree Hilton to anyone who appreciates proactive and enthusiastic service. The beds are very comfortable and the amenities are top notch. The room was unclean. There was debris in the sheets of one of the two queen beds. The sink, bathroom counter and floors were dirty. We got in late. The front desk staff was friendly and able to provide us with an extra sheet so we could remake the bed ourselves. I used Lysol wipes from my car to spot clean the bathroom. However, we also noticed the smoke alarm was missing from our room (the wires were protruding from the ceiling where it used to be). We needed some milk for our baby. A pint of milk was seven dollars from their little mini mart in the lobby. Our mini fridge was actually warm (maybe set to a defrost setting since it was cool by the morning). read more

We came to Memphis for a Grizzlies game (Christmas gift for my son's) and stayed the night here. Let's start with the positive, the ladies at check-in and checkout were friendly. It was fairly easy to find coming off the interstate and no tricky turns to get into the parking lot. Good size parking lot. The room, while fairly clean, had issues. The TV was hard to maneuver because the picture was too large for the screen, so trying to use my Netflix or see any channel was laborious! So frustrating. I was going to call down to the desk, but the phone didn't work (I stayed at the hotel while my son's went to the game ). The A/C unit was old school but worked. This room needed maintenance and a refresh. The bed was comfortable though, so we shall leave this on a positive note. read more

Had some family in town for the holiday who stayed here. They really enjoyed the restaurant and said that the staff was pleasant. It is in a nice east Memphis location with Topgolf (if that's your thing). The restaurant inside (Erling Jensen Small Bites) had a great menu, so no need to leave the property for meals! There are also many surrounding restaurants and retail locations if you want to explore more. I can't say I'd ever really been inside this hotel before, but when I went to pick them up, it seemed clean, hospitable, and safe. That's about all I can ask for when I'm traveling! :) read more

My babe took me on a nice staycation The hotel is located near Muddy's first location and behind the Paradiso theater. There is parking surrounding the hotel, and there is also a TopGolf and Erling Jensen restaurant inside. The lobby is well lit, clean and decorated for the holidays, even with a Hanukkah table. It's very much a hotel for a traveling businessman or one to hold conferences/events. It turned out to be the same hotel we held our recent alumni event. Check in began at 4 and the process was standard for any hotel check-in. The woman at the concierge desk was friendly. We got our keys, and two cookies. The cookies were a nice size and warm, and they tasted pretty good. Upon entering, the room was nice. There was a lot of space, and the light entering the room was a nice touch. There is plenty of drawer space, a closet, a small refrigerator, and the bathroom had a makeup mirror. The only thing was that there was nowhere to sit if you prefer to do your makeup sitting down, but I don't think there would be much of a solution that would still be space saving. I like the location of the hotel. The hotel is slightly tucked away, but it's within reach of groceries, dining, entertainment, shopping, and a gas station. It helps if you have a car, but you can still walk around if you wanted to, especially if you're used to long distances when traveling. We weren't really sure on what to eat, but Whole Foods was a few parking lots over. Like most grocery stores, Whole Foods has a hot bar where you can pick what you like (their hot bar had a VERY wide selection), pick your container size, and pay by the pound. Since we had plans later, it worked perfectly for dinner. The rest of the stay was nice (I should've checked out the pool. It was indoor.), and the staff was accommodating to any needs we had. The hotel has a continental breakfast for $11, but when reserving the room, depending on which cancelation policy you pick, it comes with the room. It was a little difficult to understand, but we ended up getting 2 sets of vouchers for each day. We had a little bit of maintenance that had to be addressed. I had to contact the front desk, and they were very prompt and thorough about getting it repaired. The staff was really nice. They had friendly attitudes, and they were willing to help out with anything you needed resolved. I'll give this one a rating: a cozy space from home. Overall, I liked the stay here. I've always liked a hotel close to additional amenities and activities, and the fact that you could (technically) walk to a lot of these places is cool you feel like getting some exercise. Arrived at this hotel quite late in the evening. We initially had a virtual check-in, only to discover that our room was dirty. A quick trip to the front desk fixed the situation, and the employee who assisted us was kind enough to provide complementary cookies and waters. The room was clean, and the bed very comfortable. The only things I didn't like were the fact that the bathroom door didn't lock (it didn't even have the ability to lock), and there was no microwave in the room. A single microwave oven was provided on each floor, for all guests to share - not very safe during a pandemic! The morning came quickly, as we were all woken up by the sound of a train horn blasting (this hotel is quite close to a train crossing - FYI). The coffee machine worked okay, but sadly the creamers provided were spoiled. The last thing worth mentioning is that we were a group of three, yet only two shower towels were in the room. All in all, this was an "okay" stay. This hotel missed the mark on several levels, but it was clean, which is a plus. read more

Spent a week in the hotel, the bedroom was fine, clean and enough space. Near a Whole Foods, Kroger so that's a plus. Didn't venture to the pool. They provide a shampoo and soap for your shower. The outlets are a bit rustic, no clock in the room, don't understand that one. On the whole it is just needed, a place to rest. read more

(This review has been sitting in my drafts for a bit...) We stayed here awhile ago while driving south to Texas to see family. Despite it being months ago, I can still remember why I noted the two stars in my review draft. Despite it being during the pandemic and part of the Hilton group Clean Stay commitment, the lobby of was out of their sanitizer and wipes and the room had clearly not been cleaned thoroughly. Even for non-pandemic tunes, the dirty surfaces in the room (clear markings/unclean) would have bothered me. The other thing that made this visit so memorable (not in the best way), was that the staff was bickering in front of us and other guests during check in. The front desk receptionist spoke down to one of the employees in a way that was very off putting. Overall, not our best DoubleTree/Hilton experience. Checking in the girl at the front desk wasn't friendly and seemed annoyed with me. Elevators were out so they had us use service elevator and it was filthy! The room was good but sink wouldn't drain. This was the first time I've ever ever been disappointed !! my wife and I we're on a little getaway to Memphis ,check into the room the appearance from the hallway and check in was nice, But the room is a nightmare it look like water had leaked out from up top ,my wife turned on the shower handle came off water stated leak from the ceiling of the tub and drywall was falling on her head !!! double tree hotel slogan is "We will make it right !!! Well they didn't make it right as a matter fact we didn't really throw fuss about changing rooms or anything we just stayed the night in that crappy room and check out the following morning nothing was offered . Hotel is nicely located around many amenities. Parking on front are limited as so are handicap spots and are also scattered. The entrance and inside of hotel is clean and well lighted. The room layout is practical , the room overall seemed clean but it smelled musty , the AC helped. The bathroom was probably the most disappointing part the wallpaper was dirty with questionable spots , and the bathroom tile had black spots of mold. read more

I stay in Hiltons exclusively and I must share that their properties have gone down hill quickly. I am staying g I. This property this evening and I have a lot of work to do. The chair at the desk is broken. It is very low to the floor and the adjustment for the height is broken. The left arm is broken and the recline stop does t work - meaning if you lean back there's no stopping. There is no way miss that this chair needs replacing. Just one of many examples available to illustrate their decline. Thinking Marriott might be my next stop. Curious to hear if Marriott has nice properties. read more

Upon arrival, the hotel was nicely decorated, the people at check-in were very nice. After check-in I received the key to my room and thought that the decor was very nice and the bed looked super cozy. I was initially happy...... then I pulled down the top cover to do my usual spraying of Lysol on everything..... that's when things went sideways. There were some very.... "Questionable" spots on the bed that I touched right away by the pillows and the more I looked the worse it got. There was also dirt gathered up around the edges of the door jams and in the bathroom. I requested my needing be changed. A very pleasant young man came to my room with sheets that felt warm from the dryer. So with fresh linens and a good spray down with my Lysol, I was able to make the room work for the one night I needed to be there. We were there for business and had to move to this hotel for one night due to the one downtown being booked up on Friday night. There was also a sign informing guests that you will not receive daily cleaning but can request cleaning. It's bothersome that we are still being charged what we were a year or two ago but now you have to request cleaning if you want to. What's worse is the "cleaning" that is being done is not good. One would think if the room is only being cleaned once a week or when guests check out that the cleaning should better. I appreciated the style of the hotel. The bar area was very nice. All the employees were great but I would never stay at a hotel that so obviously did not change the sheets between guests. This was hands down my most concerning experience at a hotel. read more

I've been to a great deal of double trees all across the US. Quite frankly I'm surprised that this is still a double tree brand because this is one of the filthiest hotels I've ever been to. I came here last year not by choice but only because this is the only hotel that my company sticks us in. It wasn't clean a year ago and it seems like it's pretty much the same this year too. There's always filth on the floors and in every corner on the carpets. Whoever owns and manages this hotel needs to be out of the hospitality business. I will definitely be writing to Hilton corporate about this place because this is not up to standard. read more

Horrible experience at this hotel. Booked the day of staying for $255 and received a dilapidated room with dry rotted curtains. The fuzzy picture tv only had a few channels, no mini bar, lamp not working, and dirty carpet. The front desk service was terrible. I asked to see a manager and was told only the assistant was available. She never came from her office. This hotel should be closed and renovated. Old and filthy. read more

Nice lobby and friendly hostess and bartender however the room is to be desired. There is a hold in the wall in my shower. It is clean but needs to be upgraded. I had breakfast that I did not eat all I ordered was a breakfast sandwich (which I wish I took a picture of so sorry). It was just an English muffin, 1 egg and 1 piece of cheese. Easy enough-wrong took about 15 minutes to get it and when I did get it it was sooooooo greasy that my hands were covered with grease. I wanted to return it but had to wait for manager. She came and told me a lot of people like it this way in which I took the sandwich and squeezed so all the oil came out of it like a sponge. Discussing and gross. They asked if I wanted it made dry. What is a dry breakfast sandwich which is a rhetorical question. Gave 2 stars for the staff last night in the bar. read more

We are Diamond members of Hilton honors and stay at doubletree a lot. I must say this is the worst one I've stayed at. Our flight got in very late and we couldn't find an uber, Lyft or taxi for a while, we called the hotel for recommendation and they were no help at all. We finally got to the hotel around 1am, they were not friendly and did not even give us the waters they normally do when we checked In. We left the breakfast buffet it was not clean and half empty. To top it off we stayed 3 nights and our room was never serviced or cleaned. We even asked on the3rd day for service to our room and thwy didn't. We got home after all day out and asked for clean towels and they said they did not have any and would bring later Would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone. read more

STAY AWAY THE PLACE IS NOT SAFE!!!! last Thursday 30+ vehicles were broken into while parked at the double tree secure parking lot. This lot is secured by a fence, locking gate, security cameras, security guard and yet at least 30 vehicles were broken into. When the manager and staff of the hotel were asked about it they didn't seem to care. We've been staying at this hotel for 2 years now, as our children are students at University of Memphis. This hotel has an ideal location, and I especially love that the strip center beside it has most everything we could want (nail salon, pub, burger restaurant, healthy breakfast place, bakery, and an upscale dinner restaurant). It's also close to lots of other cool restaurants in the Brookhaven area, and a Kroger is just around the corner. We are Hilton Honors Diamond members, and before we settled on this Doubletree as our "hotel of choice" in Memphis, we tried the Hilton, Embassy Suites, and Hampton Inn. This is the best of the Hilton properties in East Memphis, and we've generally found the staff to be helpful and friendly. With all that said, this hotel could use some upgrades and general maintenance. As we've stayed here many times, I've started to see there's a lot of wear & tear that needs to be addressed. Lots of woodwork throughout the hotel is worn, the atrium windows desperately need to be cleaned, and many elevator lights don't work. The executive lounge has been set up in 2 combined rooms and is pretty much the bare minimum compared to other Hilton properties. There is a restaurant onsite (Lynchburg Legends), and that's where breakfast is served, although we've never eaten there. We have occasionally had a drink at the bar when arriving back to the hotel, and that has been nice. Overall, we really like this hotel. Hopefully there will be some effort put into upgrades. Oh, I almost forgot... their cookies are delicious! read more

Let me get this out of the way, I LOVE DOUBLETREE COOKIES. I'm all for a quaint boutique hotel, but if I have to go for the big guys, there's nothing more I want greeting me than a warm chocolate chip cookie from DoubleTree. Well, maybe there is one more thing. Friendly staff! It was my first time in Memphis and the folks behind the front desk (and throughout the whole city!) were very nice. I was immediately given my room key and a few minutes later, called by guest services to make sure everything looked good. My room had two beds, a mini fridge, coffeemaker, TV, and all the bathroom amenities one would need. As a Hilton Honors member, I also gained access to the special lounge that had MORE cookies, complimentary snacks, drinks including alcohol for purchase, business center, and plenty of tables to get work done. I was also given free breakfast at their sports bar. It was a buffet with everything from yogurt and fruit, to bacon and biscuits and gravy. Eggs were also available to order. The service there was also very friendly. Overall, a great way to start the day. I went to the gym one day. It was small but had the basic equipment. There is also an indoor and outdoor pool which I could see kids loving. Parking was never hard to find, and they have a shuttle (with cookies on it!) that I think can take guests around the city, although I never used it. The location is about 20 minutes away from downtown, so not ideal if you're looking to do a lot of the touristy stuff, but was perfect for my purpose. It's also very close to grocery stores, one of Memphis' best bakeries, a vegetarian restaurant, and more. All in all, I really had a great stay at this property! We've stayed here on three occasions from 2019-2023. Each of the three have experienced problems that you do not expect from a DoubleTree property. For relevance, I'm highlighting the most recent trip (June '23). The parking lot is a maze of freshly poured concrete flower beds and blocked entrances/exits. Once you find your way in the maze, you realize there's limited parking for such a large property. Upon entering, it's not tidy / clean / neat. The line to speak with staff is usually 1-2 deep unless it's late at night. The room itself had 2 towels for a double bed room. When we attempted to call down for more but the room had no phone (just a cord laying on the floor). In all, it's incredibly busy, incredibly under managed, incredibly "bare minimum" (not what's common for the brand), and an overall disappointment. read more

For what they charge for this hotel it's disgusting to see that they don't clean up after guests especially in todays world. Tried to check in at 2:45 and they said they were still waiting for housekeeping to turn the rooms so I asked them to call me when they were ready. After no call almost 2 hours later, I headed back to the hotel to at almost no surprise get in the 10 person line to check-in that took almost 30 minutes to get through because they only had one person working the desk. (Mobile key did not work, yes I tried that) Went to dinner and when I got back I realized they forgot my two complimentary waters so I went back down to get them. After already having waited in line thirty minutes to check in, the girl working the front desk tells me to get back in line (there were 7 people in line to check in at 8:45pm) to get my two complimentary waters even though I explained I was just grabbing them because they forgot to put them in my room. After providing terrible service to all guests while checking in you'd expect them to understand and provide water without question. This place is a joke like all other Hilton hotels in Memphis. I swear part of the interview process here is making sure you are lazy, obese, and dumb. Only person that I make an exception for is the cleaning guy who brought me my waters after he heard they forgot them originally and didn't request me to stand in line for another 15 minutes. Hope to never have to stay in another Hilton Memphis hotel in my life. read more

To preface, I really am not one to give negative reviews on here. So this is hard for me to give DoubleTree 3 stars for my recent stay. The room we stayed in was comfortable and clean which was great! There was a grocery store nearby and some good Memphis eats in close proximity as well! The only issue I had was that on the afternoon of our second day the fire alarms were going off in the hotel. Since we didn't receive a call that it was a drill or a test, one would have to assume there is a fire and to act accordingly. As a victim of arson who was displaced for several months without any belongings a year and a half ago...this sent me into a panic. I quickly grabbed all my essentials and ran down the stairs to find that the hotel was in fact not on fire. It would have been nice to be warned about this. read more

This was the ONLY hotel we could find that had availability.. The lobby was extremely dirty ( we were there for 2 days and it had the same food on the floor). The staff was super nice but you could tell that they were understaffed. Rooms look really beat up and since there are connecting rooms with doors to our hotel room we could hear EVERYTHING nextdoor... parking was very limited.. Long story short: cleaning is lacking, I'd recommend elsewhere. These other 5 star reviews and the lackluster responses back to the 2 star and below astound me. After reading the previous review of a woman who had leftover wet towels from another guest and of another woman who was amazingly understanding after being walked in on during breastfeeding by a staff member only moments after checking and settling into her room, only a month ago, my complaint isn't nearly as bad (to which she only recieved a response back asking for more feedback). I was greeted by dead panned staff and a room that had a half empty cup of water leftover from SOMEONE ELSE on the desk in the room and a half made bed in which I had to pick out someone else's hair between the sheets. When asking the staff at the front desk about the cup of water to be sure no one else had checked in to the room (didn't even mention the hairs), I received a half ass apology. Not very impressed considering the amount of $ I'm spending on a "Hilton Hotel". Highly recommend checking out other reviews in the area before booking here. read more

BEWARE!!!! Had my vehicle broken into along with 8+ others. The general manager was worthless and so was her boss. Hilton completely dropped the ball. According to the General Manager, this is an ongoing issue. Had another staff member inform me that 17 plus vehicles were broken into one morning on the property. Just don't bother staying here. Not only that to put the icing on the cake, I had to swap rooms because the thermostat wasn't working then they moved me into a dirty, urine filled room. read more

From the minute we walked in, we wanted to leave because of her. I cannot believe a hotel would hire someone like this, let alone keep an employee like this. Hotel is reasonably priced, in a nice neighborhood with a bunch of dining option even within walking distance. everything in the room was new and well-kept. Had to keep switching from room to room because they were all dirty. Eventually we ended up just asking for clean sheets and we would make the bed ourselves. Every time you ask the operations manager for something he gives you a disgusting look, like it is not his job, and questions you. The WORST hotel i have ever stayed in. The room I was in had mold in it. I spent one night in the room. I got up that morning to open up the curtains and looked up and saw mold in the top of the window sometime ago. The window was dirty with brown what ever it was that had dried down the window. It looks like it had rain in the inside window from the looks of it. I took pictures before I left. When I had gone down stairs to check out. I ask the girl at the front why would she gives us a room with mold in it. She said did you tell anyone. I said we didn't know until the next morning when we opened up the curtains and I made sure I had taken pictures if I happened to have mold in my lungs. read more
