While in town visiting a friend, I booked a hotel at the Double Tree. The hotel is beautiful. The lobby and rooms are all newly decorated and over all I really liked the vibe. The staff was also excellent. They were friendly and attentive. Upon check in I was greeted with cookies, awesome touch. I was also given complementary breakfast at the restaurant, but I didn't get to take advantage of it. This hotel doesn't have it's own lot, but shares a parking garage. Parking garage fees are comped for guests. I've read in some reviews that there is a valet, but I didn't see it when I stayed here. read more

The Double Tree Hilton in Reading was a phenomenal hotel with impeccable service, modern decor and finishes, and a lively bar and restaurant with high quality food and drinks. I was in town because I was attending a concert across the street. The location could not be any better; you are literally steps away from the concert venue and arena. The restaurant proved to be the most convenient option because we needed a quick dinner before the show, and then continued the experience with martinis at the bar after the show. Many of the concert goers also had drinks at the bar after the concert, and the hotel really went out of their way to form a community with the concert audience. Furthermore, the next day there was a hot breakfast buffet which was included without any charge and the food and service were wonderful. Would I stay here again? Absolutely. read more

This has got to be the absolute nicest DoubleTree hotels I had ever stayed in. I was surprised to find this gem in Reading. This is most likely the newest hotel I've stayed in. The rooms were nice, clean, and big. The on-site restaurant was really good. I ordered room service as well as visited the restaurant for breakfast. I highly recommend this location and actually hope to have additional trips out that way to stay again. read more

Staying at hotels in different cities is a part of my work life. When I go to a city, and before I book, I check Yelp! Yelp community did but disappoint on this hotel. First, the check in staff was extremely nice. They greeted me with an upbeat attitude which is a breath of fresh air! From that point on, each and every person on staff was excellent and cordial. Again, greatly appreciated. The lobby is warm and inviting. The decor is excellent and tastefully decorated. There is seating by the fireplace with comfortable seating and books all around. Super cozy. The bar is very nice. Again, great, comfortable seating. The bartenders were very responsive and quick to make a drink. The room was nice as well. Clean, comfortable bed, quiet, and spacious. All that you want when traveling. The only, very small, criticism I have is that the doors coming in from the parking garage should have a button to open the doors. Traveling with luggage, hanging clothes and a backpack makes it a little difficult to try and open two sets of doors. Overall, this was one of the best stays at a Double Tree! I'll be back very soon!! read more

Very clean hotel. Wonderful staff and amazing breakfast . Pool was also very clean and a great size ! I would definitely recommend staying here . My only issue was that the beds could be more comfortable. Other than that , we had a great room on the top floor with an awesome view of the Pagoda ( check it out if you're in Reading PA!) . We would definitely stay here again !! read more

Go to a show at Santander Arena or Performing Arts Center. Dine at the hotel's restaurant Cheers. This is a perfect quick getaway for a night. The hotel is not a luxury resort. However, the entire staff was friendly and professional. Dinner at the restaurant was fresh and delicious. The gumbo was excellent as was the salad with pears. Oh and the zucchini sticks were tasty too (we are going to try and recreate these at home). The shuttle took us to the classical concert nearby and promptly picked us up after the show. We had ice cream at the hotel after the concert and this too was scrumptious. Even the breakfast buffet at the restaurant was above average. We just needed a quick night away to relax and did not want to travel far. Reading is a short distance from the Baltimore Metropolitan area. Reading's arena and performing arts center are attracting world-class performers. My significant other and I did not feel comfortable roaming the streets of Reading at night because we are unfamiliar with the area. So it was excellent to have the door-to-door shuttle service and just relax. The architecture in Reading is intriguing. What character! Unfortunately, like many places in America, there are few signs of industry, other than the drug industry (neglected buildings, loitering, litter). The layout of Reading is appealing. It would be wonderful to see Reading revitalized and thriving. Every single hotel staff member and locals I met at the music venue expressed pride and faith in Reading. They enjoy its music scene, architecture, or walking trails. When it comes to safety, use common sense. If there is a performance you want to see near the Doubletree I hope you enjoy yourself. We truly had a memorable excursion and have pleasant memories. read more

Stayed for a week To do corporate training at near by morgantown. Both the accommodations and service is very good. I have never experienced better service, truthfully told. Every staff member greets you when they see you. They even have a text option, where you can join the 21st century! Randall and Ashley are particularly patient and helpful. All around a delightful experience. Maybe in large part due to their corporate relationship with my employer but nonetheless I would be hard pressed to find better service. read more

Let me tell you about this place. We were here for business and really had no expectations. Entered the lobby and it was a big wow!! Beautiful contemporary style, pub seating for conversation, and staff available to point you in the right direction for food, drink, check-in. Get checked in, go upstairs to a large, clean, well-appointed room with beautiful luxury bedding and thick, fluffy towels. Did I say clean?? In the morning, the best complimentary buffet ever, with a Latin flavor to accompany the traditional American fare; great service and your own pot of coffee. The staff treated us like they wanted us to be there. Imagine that. Wows all around. Nick and his crew know how to do it. read more

Here are my initial impressions after a quick visit and walk through. It is as gorgeous and unique as they are saying. The staff is as smiling and welcoming as the general manager claims in the paper (he was outside and greeted us). I loved seeing hundreds of books mixed into the warm modern decor of bookshelves, fireplaces, and wood. Cozy sofa-y seating is scattered everywhere, making you think how nice it could be to have a work meeting or romantic date here. The garage is confusing with all the poles, but I think they are still finishing this. Free no-ticket-needed parking for 2 hours. Take the elevator right into the hotel lobby, well close to it. Prices in the bar (called Cheers) are reasonable for this kind of beautiful environment. (Suggestion: turn down the lights though -- it looks like closing time.) Vegetarian and gluten-free items are noted on the menu. Another suggestion: be ahead of the curve and add a few vegan things so no one has to ask for customizations. How about a nice mac & cheese? No one else has this for miles. Main ballroom is truly cool and like no hotel ballroom I have ever seen -- they wanted to be the anti-colonial-sterile Sheraton and achieved it. It was a long long road to making this project real. I remember the DoubleTree signs downtown years before the hotel even broke ground (which people laughed at). These were finally taken down. Hope they are back up. Staff reflects the local diversity of the city. I recognized a lot of faces, and they all seemed delighted to be working here. The hotel hired 170 people and says 80% can walk to work. Hope there will be more walkable places to go in this neighborhood besides the convention center across the street. read more

Spent a couple of nights here while in Reading for business and absolutely loved it! The hotel is brand new and so beautiful! Everything was wonderful, the staff was so courteous and provided excellent service. The restaurant was delicious, the breakfast offerings were great, loved the omelettes and buffet. Dinner was also really good, super fresh and hearty salads, also the lobster mac and cheese was phenominal! The room was super clean and comfortable. Loved the bed, it was perfectly comfortable. Only lament was they didn't have a hot tub, but the pool was gorgeous and really warm. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it. I would give it 10 stars if I could! read more

Excellent DoubleTree hotel. Love the free parking, excellent breakfast, and the friendly & helpful front desk staff. Thank you to the front-desk for helping me fix a complicated reservation problem and offering DoubleTree cookies daily! A few notes: There is an active freight train line on 1 side of the building. If you're sensitive to noise, ask the front-desk to place you away from this side. Downtown Reading is not a tourist destination. Even though this location is city-center, it can feel very lonely walking around outside, even to a restaurant only a 5 minute walk away. read more

Went to Reading for a wedding. Stayed at the Doubletree for 1 night. Everything was first rate. Check in staff was fast and friendly, decor was fresh and contemporary. Room was very clean and bed was very comfortable. Have to acknowledge Cynthia the hostess in the dining room. She prepared a lovely tea tray for us on the spot when we arrived. The next day at breakfast she answered all of our questions about Reading and even went to get us literature. Kareem was our breakfast server. He was very attentive and delightful. Also bumped into the general manager who was eager to make our stay a good one. Not sure when I'll be back in Reading but this hotel was a real gem. Can't say enough about it! read more

Very loud hotel.... the doors and hallways are exceptionally loud for such an updated hotel. There was a conference of some kind going on and the hallways were hoping until about midnight most of the week. Which the people weren't loud... you couldn't hear talking you could hear doors.... they are LOUD. And you could just hear banging in the hallways. And the bar/ restaurant was so incredibly slow every single night. A burger and glass of water took 45 minutes every night. The staff is awesome though. From start to finish they bend over backwards to make it a great experience. From all the reviews I read I would have expected more. Maybe just an off week. Parking garage that you can come and go as you please which is nice. Dan, the bartender.... no one better in the entire hotel! I never even sat AT the bar where he was!! He spoke to me every night and made sure things were right; and when they weren't; he took care of it. read more

The crown jewel of downtown Reading! They provide excellent direction as to local restaurants and things to do and also have a shuttle for guests to use. The rooms are truly best of class even for the high Hilton hotel standards. The restaurant in the hotel is good. The menus isn't really deep and penn street has other places nearby that are better but you will get a great meal at the double tree. The bar is nice! Especially before an event at the Santander arena across the street! read more

The hotel and the people were incredibly awesome. Price wise one of the nicest places I have stayed for that price. The food was good at the restaurant. The people that work there truly make you feel welcome. The only downside is the location of this hotel. read more

As an experienced traveler, as a rule of thumb, I do not eat hotel food! But there are exceptions & the lobby bar restaurant at the Doubletree in downtown Reading is one of them! You can not make a bad choice! Starting with the appetizers: the BACON is legendary! But the gnocchi, zucchini & filet medallions are dynamite as well. The salads are fresh, tasty & gigantic. The main courses are all very good. Definitely try the lobster mac & cheese! read more

I have been staying at hotels across this country, all brands from the top hotel and resort brands and this hotel is doing something different. They are continuing to prove us all wrong when its said that traditional customer service is a thing of the past. Catch them doing amazing things from the front desk through the maintenance staff. Everyone here seems to really care about the quality of your hotel stay experience. Thank you craig and family for ensuring that we had a great time. And stop by the restaurant and let ms Sugar find you a perfect table to enjoy a high quality meal. read more

After a long travel day, all I wanted to do was get to my bed. My attitude wasn't exactly the best admittedly and not even a cute puppy could flip me. But I walked into the Double Tree and I couldn't help but feel relaxed. The staff is so friendly and helpful. Personal. Ready to help with whatever you beed. The facilities are updated and new with cool amenities like an efficient business center and a touch-screen board that gives the weather and local things to do. The pool was epic and the gym was one of the better ones that I've seen. I took advantage of the breakfast buffet EVERY MORNING I was there. It was a breakfast among breakfasts. (It was buffet style but very clean with the option to special order omelettes.) Parking is easy, too. Can't say enough about how warm and wonderful the staff was. From the managers to the housekeeping staff, the core values of customer service and excellence are apparent. read more

Even during these tough times Manager Craig Poole and the staff here maintain the highest level of professionalism and service. They make us feel like old friends. "Sugar's" friendly greeting at the restaurant, the chef's willingness to char my brother in law's bacon the way he likes it, and our server "Yessenia's" attention to our needs at brunch all started our day on a positive note. Love the music in the bar/restaurant too. Lots of natural light and cheerful attitude here. read more

The DoubleTree in Reading provides a five-star experience at a three-star level hotel. Wow! I wasn't looking forward to swinging by Reading again because of the urban decay brought to the city's residents by entrenched failed governmental policies that ensure Reading is always included in the top ten poorest cities in PA. But I was immediately awestruck by this new-built hotel across the street from the Santander Center. Great location within the city of seemingly perpetual decline. A ray of light amidst the dark I optimistically thought. Perhaps the proverbial Phoenix is rising? I love a turnaround story and if this is the case with the city of Reading--for whatever it is worth--please know that I'm 'rooting' for you. But I digress... At the core of this hotel's greatness is the service provided by the hotel's staff: from the parking valet all the way up to the general manager and everybody in between. I ordered room service and not only was the Philly cheese steak (when in Rome...) that I ordered delicious, the waiter that brought it to me was first-rate. Regretfully I didn't get his name [In case management reads this review I was in room 723 from 9/29 - 30. Please acknowledge the waiter's professionalism for me] because I was equal parts starving and exhausted. My room was modern, very clean and of a fair size. The hotel was sold-out so instead of a single-king size bed I was given a room with two queen-size beds. The well-appointed bathroom was very clean and it was also adequate in size. Excellent pillows, sheets and mattress. Plenty of channels to chose from. Since we are smack in the middle of the political season I spent most of my time channel surfing between MSNBC and Fox News (I like to hear what both side have to say). The following morning I thought I'd swing by and enjoy the complimentary breakfast. What a spread! Not only did they have several varieties of eggs, there was also an omelette station. I didn't have time for an omelette so I opted for the delicious vegetarian eggs and pork links. The eggs were very good but the the sausages were extraordinary--as was the coffee. While I was enjoying my breakfast the general manager stopped by my table (as he did at every other table) to ask about my breakfast and about my stay. When my colleagues and I returned to the hotel from a full-day of corporate meetings, we decided to swing by the bar. A live singer was jamming and doing Amy Winehouse plenty of justice. The bar was nearly full. We ordered our preferred libations as well as the duck tacos, smoked buffalo wings and a charcuterie plate. While I didn't care for the wings (the smokiness ruined them for me) the rest of what we ordered was very good. Especially the charcuterie. More importantly, Christina our waitress, was superb. She was very patient with a bunch of corporate hacks that couldn't decide what to order; she oozed of a great and lively personality; and, she provided excellent service. Generally speaking I'm very cynical and pessimistic about these sort of hotel properties. Yes I am a snob/jerk but never to the staff and always to operators. I'm a believer in the old Ottoman saying that the fish begins to stink from the head. I expect bad service and I am prepared for the worst. I travel a whole lot on business to tertiary markets and I've had my fill of very bad hotel stays. Every hotel that I've stayed in Reading has met my expectation of poor service and even worse facilities. However, the DoubleTree in Reading is a 1,000 carat polished diamond amidst in the abyss. But please note that if this property were situated elsewhere, this hotel would stand alongside the best hotels in its star-class (and in higher star-classes) based on the facility and the service that the staff provides. The DoubleTree in Reading is the only hotel that you should stay if you need to travel to Reading. read more

I don`t often get a chance to get to Reading (used to go for Outlets yrs ago) and came back for a concert nearby. It is literally across the st from the main arena, and our concert was at the PAC a few blocks away..They offered free shuttle service before and after show which I thought was a nice touch, particularly in an area that may not be the most desirable. Randall, the front desk staff and mgr were all super friendly and accommodating. I almost feel like I need to find a reason to get back to Reading just to stay here. Very clean, and they accommodated our small dog at the last minute due to a dogsitter issue, and we did feel we were sanctioned to a `pet` room which had no evidence of any pets before us. Shuttle, clean, friendly, brkft buffet included, dog, free parking. What a pleasure..Highly recommend, and I will try to stay there in the future when I need a getaway,or have reason to head through there. read more

We even extended our stay and took friends back the next night just because we enjoyed it so much. The rest of the hotel hospitality industry could learn something from this Hotel ! Well Done Doubletree Reading! Extra Kudos to Lex, Sugar, and the guys in the band, just to name a few. I could go on and on. A must stay if ever near Reading!!! So worth the extra drive. read more

Amazing service, dedicated staff and delicious cookies. The breakfast buffet is extensive.

This is truly an example of a diamond in the rough. The Doubletree is a brand new hotel smack dab in the middle of a city that has come across hard times. What is great about it is that it offers something different for Reading's residents and does so in an amazing and modern package. We were here for a wedding, which was accomplished through great customer service and quality food provided by the hotel staff. We also elected to stay at the hotel for two nights, and took advantage of the great pool and clean and modern workout room. The rooms are clean and modern (running trend), quiet and felt like a little home away from home. We experienced a couple of problems with fuses blowing, but the operations staff were able to take care of it in a jiffy. For an event in the Reading area, you'll want to make sure you seriously consider the Doubletree. For travel through the area, you could probably find a better deal, but then again, it probably still wouldn't be worth the money when a shiny diamond is down in the valley, beckoning you. read more
