I have been coming to The Rhino for a while now. It is my favorite bar in town. Not because it is…read moreflashy. Because it is real. The whiskey selection is one of the best I have seen. They carry everything from accessible staples like Buffalo Trace and WhistlePig 10, to rare finds like Weller Full Proof and Octomore 13.3. They even have three single malts from the Game of Thrones collection. Solid pours that are affordable and enjoyable. The owner clearly curates with care. He knows what he is doing. The beer list is just as impressive. You can grab a PBR if that is your pace, or you can work through a rotating selection of craft beers. They have Delirium Tremens on draft, which you almost never see. A wide range of local Montana brews too. There is something for everyone, and nothing feels like an afterthought. The staff actually remembers you. The owner has built something that feels more like a community than a business. Even on a bad day, you are treated with dignity here. That is rare. If you are looking for a place with soul, a curated selection, and a staff that cares, this is it.

The nachos are ginormous and loaded with toppings. The flavor was pretty good, which it should be considering the price, and there was definitely no shortage of food. Service was also pretty good during our visit. The restaurant was fairly quiet and almost empty while we were there, so it's hard to say how the service would be during a busier time. Overall, a solid experience and definitely worth knowing about if you're looking for a seriously oversized plate of nachos.

When I checked in, the front desk referred to the rooftop bar as "the most popular place in town"…read moreit wasn't until later in the week that I realized just how true that actually was. We went up around 9:30pm for a nightcap prior to bed, and this place was PACKED. Appeared to be a local crowd, moreso than hotel guests. It was rather difficult to get the attention of the bartender. (Partly because of the loud clubby music that was playing - not all on them.) Once I did, I found that they didn't have the ingredients for my (standard) drink. Was a pricy experience for what you get. I would probably give this location a pass if you're in town.
