Let me just start by saying that I have always had used cars, and I have been to more mechanics than 99% of people on the planet. I've been to probably 25 around different parts of the country. This is hands down, by far, the best, most competent, fair priced mechanic I have ever come across. And it's not even close. True diagnostics. Not just reading codes and getting you to replace things for the sake of charging you. John is a wizard and clearly knows cars unbelievably well. John figured out what was going on with my engine with so many other mechanics could not. John also figured out that previous mechanics hastily replaced things, and did so lazy, leading to problems in themselves. I've never tipped a mechanic before but I just had to do so after this service. My car wasn't drivable. It was kicking while driving. This car is my baby I've been road tripping around the country with it for 10 months. I had 12 codes before Double G Auto, now I have 0 codes. Car drives better than when I first bought it. I joked with John I would consider moving to town just so I could bring every car I ever own to him for the rest of my life. Would save me so much time, energy, effort and money. THANK YOU SO MUCH. Called about my 2006 Toyota Corolla in for rattling exhaust noises. I asked if they could show me the problem on the lift before discussing a fix. They took me in the next morning, put the car on the lift and fixed the simple problem in 5 minutes. No charge! I left a tip for the excellent service. Nice people, took time to explain issues. Gary runs a rarity: an honest car repair shop that does only the work you need, at a fair price. We've been bringing both our cars there for years & they have generally been accurate in their diagnosis of complex problems & good about helping you triage when there's a lot that needs attention, but you can only afford to fix the most urgent stuff now. They always call you once they uncover the source of a problem & explain your options, so you can make an informed decision before proceeding. We have had a couple instances when they accepted a vehicle for repair with an appointment, only to find out they were too busy to complete the job that same day. In other words, they sometimes overbook themselves. In those situations, they always rebook you within a day or two. On balance, this is not a deal-breaker. On the other hand, they have sometimes fixed small things (like a burned out bulb needed to get car inspected) on my car at no extra charge. This is a refreshing change from dealerships that charge the book rate on every repair, no matter how small, or how long it really takes them, and shops that are always trying to upsell you to get repairs your car doesn't need. I think they're a great asset to the community & recommend them. read more

I used to use these guys quite a bit. They are OK at best. They will get the work done but I always found them to be a little expensive and my car was rarely done in our prearranged window, which is annoying when trying to plan a day. My back wheels were locked after a simple winter to summer tire change over the last time I used them. Something happened to the E brake. They got the wheels unlocked but didn't seem at all concerned sending me home with a suspect car. I found this especially disconcerting seeing that the car worked perfectly fine before I brought it in meaning that the condition originated while my car was under their care. They eventually agreed to give me a slight break on the work but I found another place to do it even cheaper and sooner. All said and done, I don't really have any reason to go back here, though I'm not mortally opposed to it either. I'm going to keep searching for a go to mechanic. read more

I love Double G Auto. Gary and his guys get it done. They are honest and always get you in and out as quickly as they can. I recently had my brakes worked on here, price was good and work was great; the only issue was that my directional light was out and they forgot to fix that. I'm still giving them 5 starts, because I brought it back and they did a quick change, free of charge! We all make mistakes and this was quite minor. I always feel good about going to Double G Auto and feel like my truck is in good hands that aren't going run a bajillion repairs I don't need by me. My family has been going to Gary and Co. for over ten years. They're honest, hard working, good quality mechanics. Gary always finds the most efficient and affordable way to fix our cars. Every time they service our vehicles it's always satisfactory. I used to drive an old '94 Toyota Camry wagon, and after Gary worked on it, it often came back not only fixed, but driving better than before. Now I have a Subaru and have had major clutch work done.
