Second time trying the pizza tonight. Had the white pizza first. Didn't love the crust but thought we'd try it again as the "thin crust" option with red sauce (plain cheese). Crust was medium thickness at best. Not a fan of the crust at all and the cheese is just ok, sauce is pretty flavorless. Won't be trying again. Chicken fingers and fries were cold this time but were hot last time. Like the breading on the chicken fingers. Toppings for pizza are really pricey. They don't include any sauce with the chicken fingers and you have to pay extra to get ranch or blue cheese and they give no option for honey mustard or BBQ. Turkey club was ok (hard to screw up). I stay at the Home 2 Suites in Glen Mills and when I'm the mood for a pizza Double Decker is the go to . They are not stingy with the toppings , the dough it great with just the right amount of sauce and cheese . I like the thin crust pepperoni. It arrives still hot and is very neat . My husband used to get great food and service from one of these further north in delco but we were in the area and ordered from here online. I liked how specific the options were for each menu item and ordering was easy. food was ready 5 minutes early per the tracker so we swung by to pick up our order of three fried ISOP, DD fries and a roast beef hoagie. When we arrived home ten minutes later we sat down to eat. The ISOPs looked great and two were eaten right away. The Fries were fine but were packed in a thin paper box that trapped steam and fell apart quickly. The roast beef sandwich was immediately concerning when it was unwrapped as it was a very dark color and had a visible strange coating on the beef. The meat smelled off and had a waxy/slimy substance on the surface of the slices. This sandwich was made with old meat and was not safe to eat so we disposed of it. I did call the shop and advised them that they should check the roast beef they have stored for spoilage so as not to make someone ill. The woman seemed very surprised but didn't really respond to me and stumbled for words. At no point was an apology or offer for a refund or replacement item made. I thanked them for the rest of the meal and ended the call. Later that afternoon and evening one of the diners had bad GI issues and attributed it to the ISOP. read more

Avoid their online ordering service. Apparently it will glitch out and send the wrong item through to the restaurant. Normally this wouldn't be a big deal right? Just call them up to tell them that 1) they forgot an item that was ordered and 2) that an item wasn't made how it was ordered. Well, when you do this they call the owner to see what he says. When the owner says that since the order was made and delivered that they wont remake the item that was a "glitch" on the web order, however they'll send out the item that wasn't put in the bag. So you state that our own system was at error, however you wont correct the error and stick the customer with an item that they did not want. Well, this office which orders a decent amount of food each time will just have to look elsewhere...you know, to places that actually care about their customers. read more

What I remember about Double Decker is how wonderful the service was and how delicious the food tastes. Well I have to tell you you guys have really taken a turn for the worse. Sadly the only pizza store around where my dad lives is this store end it does not live up to the reputation that you have worked 30 years to uphold. I called 3 to 4 times per week to get the same thing two baked pepperoni inside outs with light sauce and light cheese. Each night now 3 in a row, which really disgusts me because I literally would go to a garbage can if it wasn't for my kids to get food over this place. I call and they do this without fail each time. Once is a mistake, twice is annoying 3 times is theft. They are literally barely able to speak a word of English and try to steal from customers. Each of the past 3 days my order WHICH IS THE EXACT SAME except school pizza which we will now get from Concord pizza and pay more because it kills me how much you have changed. I get the bales inside outs with Light sauce and light cheese and 3 days in a row the non English speakers charge me 17.00 for the 2 inside outs when it's 11.00. Now after I confronted him yesterday and said 2 times seems intentional, I cal today and I get the same thing. What happens, he charges me 17 again. Then says oh sorry I added extra Cheese and extra sauce knowing he has taken my order 3 previous days. I again say 3 times is no accident and he says it was. To which I say perhaps then I speak to someone who can speak English. Well he puts on another NON ENGLISH speaker who yells at me and refuses to answer why he has over charged me 3 days in a row for the same order until I confront him. He then says we don't want or need your business and says go away to another place where ppl speak English. How can you run a biz where there is constant mistakes, they speak to customers like that, they literally try and steal from you and you can not ask why. This is not the Double Decker I know. These men are mean and thieves. They pretend to not understand you but they do When it comes to money. We've been fans of Double Decker for a long time and eat at their location in Ridley Park. When the Glen Mills shop opened we were happy because we didn't have to drive so far to get an inside out! The restaurant is family owned and the food is really good. It has the typical pizza shop menu but you can also get burgers, sandwiches, and salads. My kids really like their inside outs, which are pizza dough stuffed with cheese and pizza toppings, either baked or fried. The fried ones are yummy! The place is clean and bright with 10 or so tables, they do take out, and I'm pretty sure that they deliver. It is a great place for a quick lunch or dinner and the food is always fast and good. read more

Inside Out Pizzas (ISOP) are delicious and consistent. In the war between baked and fried ISOP I'm usually a baked guy, since it is slightly better for you. (Although, does it really matter?). But if you're a first timer, it's a generally accepted rule to go fried. Plain ISOP is my usual selection, and the outer crust is tasty and the cheese/sauce ratio is even throughout. Their normal pizza is pretty mundane but does that matter when the ISOP is the main attraction? My only one complaint is their fries. Double Decker has those run of the mill, crispy battered outside, generic diner fries that some people may enjoy but I overall don't care for. Besides that, an ISOP is definitely a regional tradition and the best pizza you can get in the Concordville/Glen Mills area, hands down. read more

I was literally carried into this place by mom and dad. It's a got a dining area that my mom reminded me wasn't a playground. Dad ordered our food at the counter; while mom gathered the drinks and my high chair. It seemed like forever for our food to come out, but mom said it was really, really fast. Hey, I'm 2. I have no concept of time, or reality. Honestly, I think I'm dying from starvation if I am not free fed like the dogs. I cheered when our fries came to the table. While I shoveled all that deep-fried goodness sticks into my mouth; all I kept mumbling was yum. Sometimes with a very full mouth. The delectable mash of fried potatoes and saliva covered my mother and fathers arms, but I have no shame. They knew what they were getting into having me. My family was like a pack of wild jackals on that bowl of fries. I had to make sure that I got my fair share. So I took the bowl. And just like the Fourth of July; all these beautiful pieces of yummy fried goodness lit up the air above in that dining room. Mom got the honor of cleaning my spectacular demonstration of the survival of the fittest. If I cannot have them no one will. Next course was a "deep fried" pizza called an inside out. I was finally content. It was messy enough that I could style my hair, but yummy enough that I didn't throw any of it or cry my head off. Mom cut open the pod, and made sure to blow off the "hot." It was love at first bite. I had to take my mommy plate and feed myself. And like buffalo bill; I wore it well. Something has gone seriously wrong with this place! 2 years ago it was my favorite! We moved to Newark but decided to make the drive tonight and had the worst experience! I ordered 3 xtra large (18 inch) pizzas...one peperoni, one upside down and one buffalo chicken. I was asked "is his or here or to go" with a smirk...I am an obese woman. I was stunned but have thick skin so I ignored the immaturity. I was then charged $42.00, I paid $60 cash and put the change in my purse without counting it. Upon returning home to Newark, Delaware I realized I received $13.00 change, no receipt and 3 of the worst 15 inch (yes, I measured) pizzas I've ever had. I didn't realize how I was scammed until I got home and had no receipt to prove it. Not quite as amazing as the inside outs from Ridley, but a nice substitute when I don't feel like making the drive down. Definitely try the grilled chicken (no tomato sauce) with tzatziki sauce instead, it's like a fried gyro. Super unique. Any time you order an inside out with a topping, the crust won't have the same crispy crunch as a plain cheese, it's just the way of life. It's still good, but not the same. I've heard people complain about the pizza (kinda like a pizza hut style and I happen to like it), but why order pizza at a place famous for the inside out? (aka there is no cheese or sauce bubbling inside when compared to a Ridley or Media Inside Out). Since childhood if I added up the number of Inside Outs I've eaten; I'm easily in the hundreds. Double Decker is known for them, so make them right!! Please Please Please get re-trained down at Ridley or something! I love that Double Decker has expanded over the years but please keep the quality that all of us have supported you because of for years! Uggghhhh.. Did you ever see yourself doing something and knew the outcome was not going to be good? Well given the choice of eating this again verse burning 20 bucks for fun...I'll burn it... I'll have to chalk this up to a momentary lapse of reason but kids wanted to try an ISOP which is for all intensive purposes an empanada stuffed with sub-optimal ingredients and fried to a greasy stomach ache inducing consistency. Honestly I can not believe (well yes I can) how anyone rates these things as 4-5 stars... Its just not for me or apparently my kids.. but hey if you love grease, lousy dough, poor ingredients and have a hankering for that aftertaste of overly greasy food and delight in taking Rolaids.... order up. In addition to an ISOP i ordered a cheese steak with xtra whizz and onions. well that came on a decent roll but was missing the onions. Its a tough order and I knew I was in trouble having had to repeat it 3 times... (Cheese Steak xtra wiz fried onions).....Ehhh i have had better in an airport but managed to choke down half of it...maybe if the onions made the trip with the steak :) I am willing to try new things and never mind paying for something that is decent and comes as advertised. Wish I had a better first experience - took over an hour to deliver, the gyro nachos were put in a styrofoam container, hardened like a brick and toppings stuck to the side and tore holes in the styrofoam ripping apart (threw 2/3 of it away).
