It's one of several small storefronts perched on the hill above the river and the train station, and it fits the setting perfectly. It is cozy, welcoming, and full of things you actually want to pick up and look at. Be careful walking in from the street as you have to step down a few stairs and the doorway top can catch a tall person not being careful. The front room has a good selection of accessories and gifts. The back room feels like a little discovery. There is a small book shop tucked among a wide variety of fun items--think of things you might find in a novelty store like Spencers. It's really the kind of place where you come for one thing and notice three others that catch your eye. The staff were very nice which added to the relaxed feel. Overall, this is a great stop while exploring Harpers Ferry--especially if you're already walking the hill from the Fort. Pop in for a few minutes; chances are you'll find a book, a gift, or a small accessory that makes a perfect memento of your visit.

I walked into the shop and Brian greeted me with kindness, as well as, Nicole. I had no military medals/ribbons to provide Brian and Nicole, only his retirement flag and DD214. Brian and Nicole managed to obtain everything needed to make the shadow box. Brian and Nicole produced the most beautiful shadow box with care and quality workmanship; just amazing. I go to pick it up, Brian and Nicole had the box displayed, when I saw it, I cried, that's how beautiful it was. My husband opt not to receive a shadow box upon retirement, but soon began to regret the decision. Brian and Nicole to the bull by the horn, the shadow box was made with a love of country and my veteran husband in mind. The price was reasonable and I am VERY satisfied with Crews Custom Awards. It was way too cold to go outside, but this museum is next to a lake in a park area that would admit of some walking during the summer. Despite the limited selection, I found a compelling suite of Americana and a nice atrium and event space in the middle of the museum. There were some pieces worthy of thought, and I rather wished I'd been in to see the visiting exhibition. Having said that, for a community the size of Hagerstown to have a building that looks this nice, is free, and has quality art is a great resource.

The Museum also exhibits the art of local students each year, which is always a treat. The theme was…read moreWicked, and Jennifer made it come alive - she provided double-layer cakes for each of the 14 children and then walked them through how to decorate half green, half pink to match the theme (with decor on the top and edible glitter!) and also made sure each child felt proud of their creation and had a wonderful time. She was incredibly kind, organized, and so dedicated to the party from start to finish. She played the Wicked move on the screen and had fun music going, which kept the children engaged and happy. The parents also appreciated such a fun and memorable experience! Our daughter felt very special, and we were truly grateful for the care and attention to detail. Highly recommend the Dessert Depot for a party - it was one we will never forget! We will be back!
