So I just read the reviews and honestly I was shocked. Is this store very expensive, it is. However, the clothing reflects the prices. As someone who literally just browses in this store the staff including the owner has never been anything but nice to me. I don't live in the area or look like the person who would typically shop here. However one of the staff members actually remember my name. Whenever I come here to browse they treat me with respect and dignity. So this is 'old school', high touch customer service being served at Dot Reeder. Rarely do you get such friendly, insightful and hands on help from a team of stylists. Laura, the owner, is simply fabulous and lovely to work with. She has keen eye for style, fashion, trends.....you name it. She will take the the time to insure you get exactly what you need. She is the best. KeiAuntie is an amazing stylist, as well, so lovely and helpful. Each time I'm in DR I find myself wanting to hang out with them as it's just like being with your bestie, fun chit chat, playing with beautiful clothing and accessories. You get the drift!! This review has been a long-time coming. The clothes and jewelry they sell are perfectly fine. But the prices are offensive. Beyond offensive. It's almost as if the owner is angry at her customers. Which is not a left field theory because I've heard multiple stories about her behavior, including chasing a customer down the street because she came into the store and didn't buy anything and the owner was apparently deeply offended. If you like being mistreated and overpaying, this is the store for you. Otherwise, go elsewhere. read more

I am all for shopping locally but urge u NOT to give this owner ur money. U can read the reviews of her - not friendly, not helpful. I surmise she cares only for the few elite or regular customers with no concern for others. It's amazing she has stayed in business so long. While I do occasionally shop there I guess I don't qualify for the nice" treatment she offers to some clients. I had an incident there recently in which she refused to extend me credit for merchandise i bought. I would have even accepted store credit which would have been to the owner's benefit as i would have bought more clothes in excess of the credit. Certainly this would have been good PR and gone a long way in making me feel good about shopping there. Laura just doesn't care. I like to give my money to kind nice helpful stores where everyone is welcome and made to feel their purchases and business are appreciated. Isn't that what small shops and community are all about? It was such a bummer , I was in town and my sister was so excited to come to your boutique... we love all the brands and the customer service was horrible . The ladies stayed behind the counter . I even found my own fitting room w an item . We had to ask for help. When two people where there and a third came w there lunch. Such a bummer cause we love Mother band and the clog brand number 6. I have been an avid shopper at Dot Reeder since moving into town and give Laura (the owner) credit for really refining what she carries to suit nearly everyone. Coming from NYC, it is hard to find any shops in town that have anything sophisticated enough for my taste but she nails it with everything from classy, trendy, casual, work, evening, etc...Dot Reeder has it all. Offers a great price range and style range. Every time I am in there, either Laura or one of the other associates are super friendly and helpful - without being overbearing at all. I know the (current only) other reviewer mentioned that everything seemed way too expensive - being a mom of two, I don't have a huge budget but I always find something that fits what I can afford. Tip for those also on a budget or trying to save a buck: Dot Reeder offers a 20% off coupon (one item) in the town coupon booklets. Awesome. Plus, there is usually a rack up front with sales items. My experience at Dot Reeder was very frustrating. I came to the store as a student involved in a town sponsorship for the store and was treated with passive aggressive and pushy behavior. The owner made snarky remarks at me when I didn't think the clothes that I tried on fit me or were my style. She also proceeded to kick me out of the dressing room I was using so that a "real customer" could try on clothing, and refused to let me change back into my own clothes or get my phone and wallet out of the changing room. She then insisted that I help her fold and put away the clothing I was working with (all the while I was still wearing the Dot Reeder clothing that she didn't let me take off), while I waited for the other "priority" customer to finish trying on outfits. The attitude and disrespect was shocking. None of the other customers shopping in the store at the time were treated with such aggression. I would not recommend shopping here. read more

I give this store ZERO stars and will NEVER shop here. Yesterday I was just browsing and vlogging with my daughter. Did NOT see a sign "No cameras allowed", so we just strolled into browse and capture some footage.The first associate approached us friendly yet highly inquisitive about the camera. Asking me my channel name and social media info so she could look me up, SUPER aggressive and very uneasy disposition. Over the TOP...A simple "We don't allow cameras would have been fine.I would have NOT problem with that.The owner comes outta nowhere frantic and melodramatic strongly aggressive CONDESCENDING AF, RAMBLE, LECTURE and INTERRAGATED me saying she was offended and I should have asked to bring the camera in to do business the store and take shots of her items, and I must be in partnership with them and this is how you do business, if I knew anything about business I should KNOW this!???She then proceeded to she wanted to CONFISCATE my camera to see what shots I had taken, because she needs to see how her items would be presented on my channel!??(what IN the WHITE PRIVELEGE power trip is going on here)...What an unprofessional horrible proprietor!!!Woman does NOT know how to talk to guests that enter her store and talks DOWN on them.You should have just ASKED me to leave and it would have been DONE!! now so have you DISTURBING HUMILIATING INTERROGATION in my head for which I NOW have content in my video and I'm editing right now as I type this!!!I Cannot wait til she sees it!Learn proper business ETIQUETTE and how to talk to GUESTS that enter your establishment like the department stores YOU( Laura )called "Stinky NORDSTROM and STINKY Michael Kors who has FAR better fashion than that JUNK you are selling.You have NERVE to INTERROGATE and talk down on someone horrible unprofessional business owner!!!She followed me and my daughter out the store, talking and rambling it was quite HERRENDOUS!!!I So sorry I walked in there with my camera, should have RAN out what a NUT!! read more

If you like $160 t-shirts, then you might like Dot Reeder. I wandered into the boutique as I am fairly new to the Watchung Avenue shop scene. There were some pretty nice items on the outside sale rack, but even the sale prices were enough to break the bank! They carry a limited selection of brands, but the ones that resonated with me were James Perse and Tracy Reese, Plenty. While I liked some of the items, they weren't practical or compelling enough to make me want to spend hundreds of dollars. They also have some jewelry, bags, and other accessories that are equally as expensive. The help was pretty nice and offered assistance as soon as I walked in the door. Unfortunately, I don't particularly love the pieces that they carry so they're very overpriced to me. I feel you can find similar clothes for a lot less and therefore have a more diverse wardrobe. I absolutely love this store. After moving from NYC to NJ I really have been missing the small hip clothing stores I used to shop at. Then I stumbled on to this shop. Not only are the staff so amazingly sweet (they spent over an hour dressing me up in fun things) but the store owner has a real eye for well made, fashionable and cool clothing and accessories. Dot Reeder is a beautiful boutique. There's everything from shoes to coats to jewelry. You can definitely find something here if you are shopping for a fashionista friend. Yes, the store is SUPER expensive so I recommend following the store on facebook for any upcoming sales. Even the sale prices can make you gasp but honestly I do think the owner really cares about each item. What I mean is, she puts in a great effort into finding pieces that are high quality, functional, unique, and trendy. I bought a winter coat here and it held up without a problem- plus it looks amazing. I believe this a store that you buy pieces to invest in. Happy shopping.
