The consistency at this restaurant is completely without any form of standard. You never know how the dish you order will be prepared compared to a previous visit or experience. Additionally, we usually run into problems with our orders anymore. This visit was to pick up a carry-out order of multiple dishes. They brought everything out in a multitude of bags and told me that was the entire order. Halfway home, I get a call from the family member who called in the order for the household and was told that the front of house stated I had left a bag of food there. Let us set this straight, I did not leave a bag of food. They forgot it in the back and never brought it out until they realized their mistake and I was practically back to my home in Cleveland...not a short drive. Making mistakes is one thing but putting things off on the customer instead of owning the mistakes you make is neither professional or ethical. I honestly would NOT recommend coming here for carry-out unless you literally pick your order apart before you leave or are just wanting a quick lunch buffet. this is a family owned restaurant. Husband and wife and two daughters work there. They are very friendly and are eager to accommodate their customers. They have a buffet every day but Monday. My overall experience was pretty good. Service was quick and nice. The restaurant could definitely use some TLC when it comes to appearances. They actually had half the lights off inside so I wasn't even sure if they were open. Our appetizer was a bit strange. The pictures of both the onion Bhajia and Veg Somasa didn't look like what our appetizer looked like. I honestly couldn't tell you what I ate but it tasted good! I've never had Biryani before but I'm glad I tried it. It was so good with the Raita. You can't see in the picture, but the hard boiled eggs are actually under the rice. My husband got the shrimp curry. It was a bit on the sweet side and had a small kick of spice to it. I thought it was tasty. Found this place across from a pretty good Asian food plaza. They have a buffet for 10.99 M-F and 12.99 for sat-sun I believe. Butter chicken: pretty good but did have to add a lil pinch of salt and pepper. Made with shredded chicken Chicken tikka masala: okay so this was great to me. I got mild spice but it turned out to give me a bit of heat that lingered in my mouth. More flavor than the butter chicken. Rich and creamy. Cubed chicken vs shredded. Mysore dosa was really good, right spices in coconut chutney but sambhar was not the best. Paneer tikka masala was watery- I didn't enjoy it but i am not a fan of that dish in general so it was probably good for someone who likes it. The naans were super soft, my 2 year old ate it. Salt and pepper on the table definitely not needed! Why was I the only person in here at 12:30? Nice clean restaurant with a quiet atmosphere. Kind of surprised they didn't have Indian music but the owners phone was playing something in the background. All of the food was super flavorful and lots of colors and that's why I love Indian food. Everything had it's own distinct flavors and the buffet was fresh and clean. This place is a no nonsense Indian restaurant, not more than is expected but no less either. All of the 20 or so items were distinctive on their own so no flavors overlapped and you could tell they didn't spare any expense to feed me alone. By the end of the meal they had 5 other tables. The chicken tandoori was seasoned perfectly and for a buffet it was moist and tender. The spicy tomato and vegetable soup were both very flavorful and the vegetables were not over cooked. I will leave everything else unnamed because I just don't know Indian food enough to call it out, but it as all good. Oh and I asked for a cup of coffee and he made me a fresh cup. Best Indian food we've had in Chattanooga. Flavorful sauces, rich and layered with spice and cream. Puffy Naan with crispy edges and fresh chunks of garlic. Vegetables were FRESH, distinctly not frozen, and prepared with thick cuts that held sauce perfectly. Paneer was salty and had a nice bite. The Makhani sauce was the best I've ever had, anywhere, in the US. Tandoori was the low point - it was very dry and bland. Service is on the "slow" side for those used to prepared food being reheated. Be patient and you are rewarded with fresh homemade and screaming hot food. It's fair enough to note that the tables and chairs were distinctly uncomfortable, obviously very cheap. Since this is a meal to be savored over an hour or so - more comfortable seating would be appreciated. read more

During COVID pandemic I decided to support local businesses and took my mother to eat at Dosa Hut. We ordered Dosa masala, saag paneer, naans and chicken tikka. Dosa was good, almost perfect. Saag paneer did not look fresh and appeared to be microwaved, chicken was completely inedible because it was dry and frankly at least a day old. Rice wasn't fresh either and naan simply never made it to our table. We paid and left wondering how the owners are not embarrassed to serve such terrible food. Fast forward a few months, I had a guest from India and decided to give Dosa Hut another try. We ordered daal, naan, a few vegetarian dishes and tandoori chicken. When everything arrived, I bit into my chicken and it was completely raw inside. It needed at least 15-20 min more of cooking. Not sure what's going on at Dosa Hut, but when I asked my friend from India where he wanted to eat the next day, he said anywhere but Dosa Hut. read more

We really love the lunch buffet at this place. Love being able to choose many different dishes and try a little bit of everything. It is almost always amazing. I will say that the spice levels and flavors of the dishes really vary depending on the chef. Sometimes it's not spicy at all and sometimes it is extremely spicy. Doesn't bother me just makes it interesting, haha. My favorites are the vegetable korma and the egg curry that they have usually on weekends. Very tasty. read more

There are better Indian restaurants in Chattanooga. I've been here a few times because it's convenient for lunch breaks. I keep telling myself not to come back and I keep forgetting. I just ate here again. Upon entering we noticed they had raised their price to $10 for the buffet (taped on the door with hand torn paper), so I thought maybe they made some improvements. But nothing changed, it's still mediocre. Only a third of the buffet items are labeled so unless you're from the country of India, you have no idea what's in front of you. They have the basics and most of them are decent more or less. The restaurant is in a sorry state. It's somber and the booths are torn up. When we got to the register they charged us the old price which was fine but now we're confused what the actual price is. If you're looking for a quick fix of Indian food this'll do until you get to something better. read more

Cannot. Will not. Return. As my husband would say "this ones in the list". This place might be better if you experience the buffet, but really, my experience was pretty bad all around. The food was ok tasting - but I didn't taste as much flavor as I had at my favorite Indian restaurant in town. The prices were the same, so that's a plus, and they haven't variety than the other Indian restaurants in the area. However, our waitress would leave and not appear for 30 minutes at a time. Our food came out in pieces and our naan came out 20 minutes once we had our food, even though we ordered with it. They did give extra rice for free, which is a plus, but they didn't offer us any special sauces and the seating and restaurant vibe just did not really feel like a family place. it was really quiet! Like I was afraid to laugh. Sadly I will not return, but if you are looking for Dosa or Briyani, this is your best bet in Chattanooga. read more

This place has to be one of the worst Indian restaurants we've been to. Bathroom was filthy, place was a mess (invoices and bills scattered on a table next to us!) flooring cracked, waitress clearly hated her job (totally disconnected, had an uninterested air about her) and the food was way way below par. Curry was watered down, appetizer looked like leftovers from the lunch buffet, and nothing tasted the way it should be. We gave this place a try as we were visiting Chattanooga and were craving Indian food. Turned out to be the worst decision we made. A visit from the Health Department is in order. Pretty good. I got the dinner buffet. I was hoping for more options since it was dinner. The food was full of those signature Indian flavors we all know and love. The tandoori chicken was tender. The chicken masala was a little tough, though. The soups were spicy, of course, but delicious. Big chunks of veggies, lots of broth. The rice and vegetable korma could have been fresher Know that they charge by weight if you get the buffet to go. If you eat in, it's $8.99. The meal was fine. Dosa Hut is our go to place when we travel to Smoky mountains. The dosa here is one of the best we have ever had. The samosa and pakoras are also amazing. Haven't tried rest of the things but they should be good too. read more

Indian buffet? What's not to love about that?! I've been here a few times and love the fact that when I come in I can go straight for the food once I find a seat. Their wide selection of meats and veggies covered in delicious curry makes this place a 10/10. The restaurant is fairly quiet so no need to worry about loud noises. I'm not one to eat a lot of spicy food, but there's something about this place that keeps me coming back for more. Perhaps it's the flavors..? To be determined. Though India Mahal has been our go-to Indian restaurant in Chattanooga for years, in the past when my wife and I wanted even better Indian, we'd have to journey to Little India in Atlanta. Then we discovered Dosa Hut and now we're glad we don't have to do that anymore. This review is written after two consecutive visits. We had planned to meet a friend on the first visit, so we needed to reschedule and after our first visit, we knew we wanted to meet them again at the same place so they could experience the YUM. On both visits we ordered the Samosas--both times delicious and clearly made in house, because the ones we ate on the second visit were spicier. We also ordered the Chicken Curry, the Potato Curry, a dosa which basically had Indian mashed potatoes wrapped inside, and a dessert which was like a Krispy Kreme Donut Hole in syrup. Chicken Curry: Delicious! Though there were some bones in it. Potato Curry: Delicious! Dosa: Delicious! Spicy! Dessert Donut Hole thing: Okay. Seeing 31/2 stars went in with minimum expectations but this restaurant took us by a great surprise! They have a wonderful exotic touch to their dishes. A simple and plain looking restaurant with wonderful and talented staff. 1.Samosa and green chutney combo unique and tasty . 2. Plain Dosa was good! Their chutneys were fresh and flavorful. Sambar tasted just like home. Got two refills with plain rice! 3.Biryanis- Vegetarian, chicken and goat biryanis(friends' reviews) , all the three were unique and very yummy! Got recommended this place from the front desk at the Days Inn - it didn't disappoint. It was standard Indian food with nothing that blew my mind, but fixed my hunger for Indian. They had a dinner buffet which I wasn't expecting, but happily took part in. The service was meh, as they didn't refill items on the buffet very often, but I'm not a big eater so I was fine with the portions I got. It's in a great location, and was a terrific quick dinner for two under $20! read more

My rating here is based on the other restaurants in the area. I would not give it a four if this was NYC, where there are some absolutely fantastic Indian restaurants. I've really only ever tried the buffet here, but that is probably what mostly everyone else will try too. I suspect very few order from the menu, and generally it's a much worse deal to do so for what you get, especially for dinner. The food quality here is probably not as good as the local Sitar, although I think it exceeds the other local options. Sitar has more turnover and so the food tends to be a little bit fresher. The food quality here isn't bad, but it just looks like it might have been out longer in some cases. But this place makes up for it with more interesting food than Sitar. Sitar mostly just has the same dishes every day and the food is more bland. Dosa Hut has a lot more condiment options, such as tamarind chutney, and coconut chutney. They also have more soups, some of which are fairly spicy - and I do have a high tolerance. So Dosa Hut is a more interesting place with more variety and spice beyond the dishes and flavors at a typical Indian buffet. It's also next to a great small Indian grocery store where you can shop for hard to find produce, seasonings, and other Indian items. The atmosphere at Dosa Hut isn't great - it's in a strip mall and the restaurant is a little bit shabby, but it's not too bad - just maybe not a place for a first date. One warning is that if you do takeout from the buffet, the price is by the pound instead of the dine-in price. read more

Pros: I was relieved to find a good Indian place in Chattanooga. I was pretty disappointed after eating at Sitar downtown (unbelievably bland and salty food). Dosa Hut has a great lunch buffet, pretty good variety, great taste, and reasonably priced. The attentiveness of their staff has greatly improved over the last few months. Cons: The place needs to be de-cluttered and freshened up a bit. There's way too many cheesy/messy things going on, especially in the entrance. They also need a good variety of music (preferably Indian music) . They play the same couple of classical songs over and over every time I'm there. read more
