Dos Pablo's has been in the Glen Avon area of Riverside since 1986. An old, unassuming building, you will pass it if you sneeze. Nothing fancy here, very good chips and salsa, helpful waitresses, and Homestyle Mexican fare. Homemade Tortillas. The locals seem to love it. This restaurant is definitely worth trying. Even though I've had a few subpar dishes over the years, generally, it's very good. The prices are ridiculously low, you can get a cheese enchilada ala carte, for a $1.75. I have driven past this place many-many-many times. Finally read the reviews and decided to give it a try. Let's start with the area - BAD! they are next door to a really divey Mexican bar. Loud music and drunks stumbling out the front door. Parking-- if you are lucky enough to get one of the spots directly in front of the place (and I mean RIGHT in Front) you pull in and almost touch the building...the space is one car length---which means you also have to back out onto Mission Blvd. FORGET about using the parking area behind the restaurant and bar---more drunks than in front. Let's enter: The interior is decades old and WAY run down--except for the extremely loud jukebox which is right next to the front door. Waitress was friendly and prompt--of course there were only 3 occupied tables-and 2 left within minutes. I ordered Chile Rellenos and Sprite (in a can) Both came within minutes after being served a very small bowl of chips and salsa (very hot-but good) If I had asked for more chips (I did not) there is a charge. The dinner plate was good,,Chile Rellenos, rice and beans. The tortillas served on the side were AWFUL...could barely rip them apart. Dinner plate came with 2- I left 1&1/2 on the plate. Now comes the bill.... sign says ATM cards or cash--no problem---gave her my card $1.50 surcharge. I ordered a bean, rice, and cheese burrito wet style and my husband got the carne asada burrito. The beans had good texture and the rice was cooked well. The burritos themselves were good sized. We were greeted right as we walked in and were able to seat ourselves. The waitress quickly came and took our drink order, brought us chips and salsa, and came back often to check on us once we received our food. It is a little hole in the wall joint so if you are not familiar with the area it's possible to miss it, the outside is however painted a yellow that stands out. Very good wet burritos, flautas, tamales, chips and salsa. Salsa is made fresh so some days it's hot, some days more mild. Canned/bottled soda and beers only which isn't a problem for me.
