What a neat little backyard setting. Almost like a garden area. With four or five tables. Not a big place but very magical. The lady who runs this gym was wonderful. Extremely kind with a very soft smile and great kindness in her eyes! A very welcoming and "at home" vibe. The food was yummy. Kaz and I both had the Chilaquiles with eggs. What can I say about Dory Luz? This place is fantastic. We arrived midday in Loreto and found our way here, and Dory served us a hearty meal of vegetarian friendly tacos and kid friendly quesadillas. She kept the tortillas and rice and beans coming. Her salsa is delicious, fresh and spicy and the veggies are always cooked and seasoned perfectly. We came back on our last day in town for breakfast and the chilaquiles are honestly the best I've ever had. My two boys loved the waffle plates with bacon egg and banana. The coffee is hot and perfect. The service is so wonderful and friendly. This place was our best food and service we had during our week in Loreto. We will be back to visit Dory! Handmade tortillas. This is my favorite spot to eat in Loreto. It has charmingly rustic outdoor dining, the most delicious homemade food and such friendly service. Both breakfast and lunch are so good. Each day there is a different special, green enchiladas and chile rellenos are favorites. I am partial to the Quekas, especially those stuffed with rajas con crema. Great little restaurant just off the main street. This is true Mexican food which we refer to as "casera", or "homemade". Nothing commercial or fast-food about it. It's as if Luz Maria (owner) invited you into her kitchen. It's small and surrounded by dozens of plants under a straw covered roof. The chilaquiles with chicken are crunchy with cream and a tangy green sauce. The stuffed queka (think empanada) topped with lettuce, cream, and red salsa is amazing. The sope is pan-grilled so it's crispy and not soggy like some fried ones. Tortillas are hand made. But above all is the service....Arriba Juchitlan!!! read more

Simple, yummy good and cheap. The cook was attentive and nice. The owner was on her phone the whole time speaking loudly in English to her kayak guests who canceled because they were sick. It's a bummer they were not refunded anything or allowed to reschedule as there's a lot of sickness going around right now. I myself just got over COVID. Absolutely wonderful cafe off the beaten path yet close to the town's center. The owner is extremely friendly and welcoming. She speaks little english, but we managed to understand each other despite my terrible spanish. The food is made fresh and is absolutely delicious. It was the best meal I had in Mexico. I visited on a Tuesday morning and ordered the special, Sopes. The food is cheap and the location is great. The outdoor seating area is like an oasis. It is a beautiful garden with flowering plants and birds chirping and flitting about. Succulents adorn the simple wood tables. Light music plays on a portable speaker. If you are visiting Loreto, make sure to visit Dory Luz. You will not be disappointed with this lovely cafe! read more

Off the beaten path and a real gem. Honestly my most favorite meal that I've had here. The setting was great and the food brought back memories of walking in and having my mom cooking me something. And as you all know, no one cooks better than mom. My only disappointment is that she won't be open on Sunday, the day we leave. I got the huevos rancheros and my son got the chilequilles. We also shared a, cerdo en salsa verde guisado taco. So good! While all the meals we had here in Loreto were good, this was the place that I wanted to take the time to talk about. read more

Absolute gem, hidden in a small garden about a 5 minute walk outside of the centro, everything is hand made and delecious, the owner is incredibly friendly and prepares excellent traditional mexican plates and a few american breakfast options (waffles/bacon), she also has a daily special which is always what I order, so far have had pork sopes, chicken tinga, and pozole. Will be going back for more soon! it is extremely inexpensive as well, 1/2 the cost of any of the places on the centro read more
