Weather got a little hariy getting there with the slushy roads, but we made it! It's pretty remote location with no street lights, so if driving in the dark look for the signs to get there and trust your GPS. There's a large parking lot across from the entrance to the little store/shop. The shop is actually the owners old family home I belive. We arrived pretty much at closing time, but we were still welcomed warmly. We got a cheese & maple syrup tasting which was yum and informative, and the staff member that did it was really nice, I forgot her name, but see photo below. One of the cheeses has won a cheese competition, very cool. We also got to meet the owner, but she was busy getting Christmas orders together. I perused all of the cheeses I wanted and settled on 4. We got to try 2 out of the 4 from the cheese sampling. The nice lady that checked me out even gave me some nice to-go samples as well. The smoked cheese was my fav, and the sage. But I enjoyed them all. I was able to easily fly home to TX with them due to the cold weather of the season. After the tasting, we got to peruse the store. They have so much other stuff to buy in additon to cheese and maple, tons of knick-knacks and gifts and merch. We didn't get to explore the farm after since it was pitch black when we left, too bad. No other syrup…read morecompares and I always go out of my way to visit anytime I'm anywhere in the greater New England area! Sadly this year I didn't get to visit New England - but lucky for me Sugarbush ships nationwide!! So I tried it out and ordered some of their syrup and my fave cheeses. Ordering online via their website was super easy. I ordered my fave dark variety of their maple syrup and 4 cheeses: horseradish cheddar, jalapeño cheddar, sharp cheddar, and Monterey Jack. Their horseradish cheddar is my absolute fave - a wonderful kick of the spicy horseradish blends so well with their rich cheddar. I really love the jalapeño cheddar too - packed full of flavor with just the right amount of kick - not overwhelming but enough to taste it. The other two were great as well - you can definitely tell their cheeses are made fresh on site - flavors are just next level compared to industrial-manufactured cheeses from the grocery store chains. And the maple syrup is also in a league of its own - nothing mass-manufactured from any grocery chain holds a candle to the rich, complex flavors and velvety texture. The syrups also last quite a long time so I'm able to keep my stocks full yearly! Since I was ordering cheese with a long way to travel, and it was still quite warm in parts of the US, their website suggested adding one of their insulated shipping boxes for an extra fee of $8. I didn't want to risk ruining my cheese so I did and all arrived in excellent condition! They pack it in extra insulated styrofoam with ice packs. So it's definitely worth it imo. Next year I'll be in Maine in October so I'll definitely be planning an extra day or two to pop over to Sugarbush on my way back out haha!! See yall next fall!

Located in what appears to be an old barn from the outside is this wonderful little theatre. There…read moreis ample parking alongside the building and in an unpaved lot across the street sufficient to handle a full house performance. This is a small (emphasis on small) theatre with a tiny patio at the front entrance to sit and sip some wine and munch on some baked and other goods that are available for sale in the foyer prior to a performance. The theatre has very comfortable seats, access for the handicapped, and even some seats that are wide enough to accommodate obese patrons. There is not a bad seat in the house. The most distant seats from the stage are still able to hear the actors when they are not amplified by microphones. The front row seats require only a minimal viewing angle upward toward the stage and thus do not strain the patron's neck. The facilities are clean, including the restrooms, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The performance that we attended, "Sherlock Holmes And The Case Of The Jersey Lily," was extremely well staged by the theatre's staff, not to mention the actors. This is not a review of the play or the actors, but I must say, if this is the caliber of a typical presentation, then no performance here should be missed.

There are many tents of food with different selections including a new Orleans tent, roast pig, sausage and papers, etc. The craft tent is huge with great shopping. The Claremont Brewfest is a huge Fall event now going into its tenth year. The activity is…read moreorganized and operated by the Claremont Kiwanis Club, a chapter of the international charity organization known worldwide for its collaboration with UNICEF to enhance children's health among many other activities. Now in its tenth year, the Claremont Brewfest proceeds benefit area children. Last year the Claremont Kiwanis Club was able to donate over $50,000 to build a new playground in town. The brewfest counts with the sponsorship of area businesses as well as over 35 brewers in New England which offer their selections to ticketed guests. Entrance tickets are sold way in advance and they consist of a VIP ticket for $75 - these sold out in 90 minutes the day of the sale, and General Admission pricing that starts at $40 in July and become $55 on the day of event. In addition, numerous food trucks sold food throughout the event. Several hundred people attended this year's event, tasting 4 ounce containers of the brewer's selections. The beers included special Octoberfest editions, IPAs, Double IPAs, Pilsners, Sours, Lagers, Hefeweizens and special selections for those with VIP tickets. The atmosphere was festive and congenial, including a few folks in Lederhosen. Live music was playing throughout the event. The selections, the people, the music and the brewers made this one amazing day.

The area that they set up is outside the track area and covers two buildings. The track is nice, other than that there is fair amount of parking but overall driving around the location (that wasn't included as part of the show) there is a lot of areas of open barns and fencing in disrepair. Its hard to judge a location like this because of the many different things they host but i would say for the vintage shows we do, they do a great job.

Unfortunately, I left the fair yesterday feeling sorry for the vendors. Perhaps it's busier in the evenings, but it was strangely quiet during this particular hot summer Saturday afternoon. There are your typical rides, food vendors (fried dough, burgers, hoagies, ice cream, cotton candy....etc.) along with the various carnie rides and games. Only a few rides were actually running. There are several barns with animals and a nice showing of 4H kids. Still...the layout was somewhat disjointed and again...it was surprising how sparsely attended it was. My favorite spots were: -Maple House (syrup, maple candies freshly made onsite, ice cream...etc..and the smell is out of this world) -Horse barn (way in the back behind the other, smaller barns) -Historical barns (some cool stuff in there) -4H display/barn Not sure what the organizers need to do to increase attendance, but they should definitely look at the flow/layout....along with how many days the fair is open. The vendors let us know that it went from Tuesday through Saturday. Even though it's summer, it doesn't give a full weekend of the fair for the vendors to get the kind of traffic that they need.

While it has been many years since we attended the Hudson Valley Garlic…read moreFestival in Saugerties, NY, we expected something similar with lots of garlic vendors offering many different varieties of garlic and various foods, both expected and unexpected, infused with garlic, e.g., fudge, ice cream, drinks, etc. Instead, we saw only a few (9 or 10?) vendors concentrating on garlic, and the only one who had something unique, chocolate cherry garlic fudge, was already sold out on the first day of the festival. Even the food truck vendors had nothing unique. I guess it's time for us to check out the Hudson Valley again.

Each Father's Day weekend this quaint little town in VT holds a fabulous Balloon Festival…read more Hot Air Balloons rise early at 6:00 am and 6:00 pm and hover just over the water. Swimmers from Lake Pinneo can enjoy the day at the beach and watch as they mirror off the water. Parking is available for a small fee. Admission Tickets are good for the entire weekend and Dad's get in Free on Sundays. Adults -- $10.00, Children 6-12 --$5.00 and children 5 and under are FREE!! The balloon are best to see early in the morning. So go in your sweats or PJ's with a blanket and coffee. The smell of bacon will call to you as they cook breakfast so bring some money to shop and buy food. There is a small area for little tots and young kids to play. There is also a small train ride that goes around the field. All of the little events for kids are paid by tickets at the ticket booth. The traffic in and out is slow moving so plan ahead. Route 4 is the only way in and out to this field.

Unfortunately, my hubby and I went this past year and no hot air balloons ever took flight during the entire weekend festival. Basically, we sat in a field for about two hours and were told to go home. What a waste. Save your money and go to Sugarbush Farm where you can visit with farm animals, take a maple sugar walk, learn how maple syrup is made, and eat delicious samples all for, wait for it, FREE. Another option: watch the balloons take off from the road. It's free and pretty much the same experience. Oh yeah, and free.
