We rang the bell, and shortly thereafter a thin older lady in a bohemian top and long flowing skirt answered the door. She brought us in, and requested we deposit our coffees on the floor by the front door (although she kept her coffee mug in hand throughout the entire museum). Room after room, she led us through the story of the Colony family, and the generations of community influence that have come through the house's front door. The rooms held cross-generational antiques and oddities, from normal fixtures like rugs and dishes, to an overwhelming collection doorstops, representations of foreign dieties, and thousands of small animal statuettes. Here are some of the top facts that I learned at the Horatio Colony Museum: 1. Canopy beds were created to contain heat in the winter in bedrooms without fireplaces 2. Graphophones not only played cylindrical wax "disks," but one can also record his/her own music on some blank wax 3. The "bun" hairstyle of old Victorian England was inspired by the traditional hairstyle of Japanese Geishas 4. The entire faces of some paintings can follow you around a room. There's more, but this review would take forever. The tour is free... it's a half hour... and it's pretty neat... so check it out.

There is a small store filled with books penned by local authors, as well as local maps. Some postcards also are available. It's a great place!

I'll visit the farm if I find myself on that side of Vermont during my travels but have only ordered by mail. You can order direct from the farm on their website or through Amazon. Don't be scared by the shipping price which isn't cheap. Most sellers include shipping costs in their base price but Ferguson does not. Total price is a fair price and competitive for mail order REAL Vermont maple syrup. Jim Ferguson is the guy responsible for this maple treat! I have communicated with him, and you can too if you have questions or wish to discus syrup with him. I don't know how big the farm is but my experience has been a personal, small farm encounter. Tasting notes: The bouquet brings fruity notes (think apple cider) and rich hazelnut. Flavor is heavenly! I'd call the roast a medium, caramelized sugar. Confectionery dark brown sugar is predominant. Good vanilla/marshmallow creaminess. It's got an excellent buttery foundation. It's really thick! This is the real stuff, not watered down! MAPLE SYRUP GRADES EXPLAINED The grade is not indicator of quality, but rather of when it was harvested during the season. In 2014/2015 the grading system was changed, probably because people confused grade "B" as lower quality than grade "A", which it wasn't. - Grade A Golden Color and Delicate Taste. Used to be called "fancy". Early season. Popular for pancakes. - Grade A Amber Color and Rich Flavor. Used to be Grade A medium and dark amber. For those that want stronger flavor. Also popular for pancakes. Late season when weather begins to warm. - Grade A Dark Color and Robust Flavor. Used to be Grade B. End of season. Mostly for cooking to impart maple flavor but this is my favorite syrup, even for pancakes.

Service was a 10/10 and definitely worth going for if only to support the terrific staff. The decor of this course is fantastic--changing colored lights, pirate and ocean-themed obstacles, and decorative wall art make this blacklight golf very aesthetically pleasing. On top of that, the staff keeps things well-maintained and very clean. And the extra glow stickers on the putters were a fun touch I haven't ever seen at a blacklight mini golf course before. The course itself was decent--a lot of the hole designs felt very similar, but I understand that indoor courses are constrained to limited space, so you're trying to squish things together, and a lack of elevation and outdoor elements. I'd give the course 5/5 stars for decorations and 3/5 stars for course layout.
