There's something I do really like about Dorothy Perkins, and it's their jeans. It's the only place I can get jeans that are long enough, without buying them from the tall section where they become ridiculous comedy pants. But Dorothy Perkins jeans, especially their straight cuts, boy fits, loose fits and boot cuts have never failed me. I'm not entirely sure it's due to DP's superior denim quality, they normally die on me after about a year of abuse, but it's the fit; I've got long legs and a long waist, so I have small saviour moments when I come here.
Sale season in DPs and you can have an absolute ball. I was running around like a blue arsed fly not so long ago, dipped in, picked up a pair of fab brown checked pants, took them to the till and nearly pegged out when the sales assistant said they were £3. BARGAIN.
Also, the shoes, Dorothy Perkins knows how to compete with the designer styles, and even the not so designer styles but high street competitors like Topshop, that charge a helluva lot more for their shoes than Dorothy Perkins, but they put out some crackers, from the fab 4 inch heels, good ole faithful leather winter boots (memories) of which I had mine for about 4 years, money well spent, strappy sandals, slip ons, pumps, boots, you name it they will sell it. Again, sale season, slashed prices, bargain, I was eyeing up a pair of purple heels before the sales that were about £40 and I think I got lucky, last size scenario £12. Woop.
There are the stock basics, cute tops, jackets, jeans, trousers, etc.
The work wear can be pretty terrible in the quality department, but work trousers alone are alright, it's the suits that are a bit naff.
Another Arcadia brand that's had a makeover in recent years, and with an injection of youth into it, it's paid off.
The store shares a walk way with Evans too, and being all open space everything feels all light and airy. Staff are always flying around with clothes in their arm, and always seem willing to help. read more
