Two dozen beef tamales.
Tabbetha C.

The best beef tamales I've ever had. We ordered two dozen and shared with family. They were super nice and the order was pretty quick.

Doris' Hot Tamales is a must stop for the tamale connoisseur. My sister has been telling me about this place for a long time and I was finally able to visit. For tamale experts who remember Manuel's hot tamales, Doris' tamales are similar. Doris' tamales are very good, but not as good as the Manuel's hot tamales that New Orleans' residents remember from the 1970's. Doris, the Hot Tamale Lady, creates medium sized tamales with seasoned meat. Similar to most good tamales, Doris' tamales are greasy. I get nervous when I see a tamale that isn't greasy! Her tamales had a thick corn meal dough outer layer and a mild spicy meat interior. Each tamale is individually wrapped in paper. These tamales were very good, but I recommend adding a little more cayenne spice to kick it up a notch. Doris' little building is located off the main drag in D'Iberville, MS. All food is to go and they have one picnic table outside along with a coke machine. This is a small family owned operation that had to rebuild after Hurricane Katrina. I recommend stopping by to get your tamale fix and to support this mom & pop shop.

A dozen of delicious! They do *one thing*, so they've got tamale-making down pat!

Hooray!! Doris' is open! But now, sold out for today. Lucky me . They reheat in the microwave just fine, too.

This is the cutest little building. I ran into this place going to the Scarlet Pearl Casino. I was so excited and couldn't wait to get some tamales! Unfortunately these are not authentic Mexican tamales. These are different. They remind me of the canned tamales although bigger and not as greasy. Not bad just different

I am unsure how Doris' Hot Tameles doesn't have a review yet. Is it just that far off the beaten path, buried in the no-man's land between I-10 and Biloxi that is D'Iberville? I'm okay with that - this place is worth the stop. I found it by doing a little research on the "Hot Tamale Trail" that runs through Mississippi - driving east on I10 towards Destin I was hoping I could catch one of these institutions and, luckily, Doris' fits the bill. So here's what you'll get - beef tamales. That's it. Nothing else. But that's also a good thing. My wife and I rolled up around 1pm and ordered a half dozen - luckily there's a little area to sit next to the stall - and we devoured them. During the 10 minutes we were there at least 5 other people came up to take some home (several ordering dozens of tamales at a time). The tamales themselves were very tasty. Greasy, yes - but that's to be expected. They were moist and spiced just right.

Noticed the "hot tamale" sign and knew I wanted to try these! So glad we stopped. Very flavorful and tasty. Good balance of meat & masa! Priced just about right.

I arrived before they opened because I've heard this place is good and once they sell out of tamales that's it for the day. Absolutely worth the wait!!!! They only offer one flavor, beef, but they were delicious! I'd say the tamales are probably half the size of tamales you'd get somewhere else. It's cash only so make sure you swing by the ATM and pull out all your pennies prior to arrival. You won't regret it! I will be back as many times as I can squeeze in before leaving here in five weeks.

Miss Doris' iconic all beef tamale with Biloxi's iconic drink--both area originals!

Tamales in the traditional Gulf Coast - Delta style. Don't compare them to Texas, or Chihuahua. A local treasure for decades,

You can tell by my reviews that we love Mexican food. While traveling we decided to give this place…read morea try. The restaurant was neat, clean, and the decor was typical kitschy Mexican Restaurant decor. We were greeted on the sidewalk and again at the host stand. We were seated immediately. The manager came to check on us frequently. Our server seemed either new, or had a hard time understanding us. The manager assisted him quickly each time he struggled. The service overall was 5 stars. My husband ordered the Chimi Grande, photo below. The chicken was bland and seemed like it was canned and the chorizo that was supposed to be in the chimi with the chicken was missing. He asked the waiter right away about the chorizo and the manager said "it goes on top" and brought a bowl of very old overcooked crumbly chorizo. It was inedible. The chipotle sauce was missing as well. I ordered the al a carte chile relleno. The pepper was old, and it was swimming in cheese sauce. Some might like that, but it was unbalanced to me. I also got a flauta. The chicken was very dry and tough, with virtually no seasoning that could be tasted. The dishes looked decent as you can see in the pics, but the food quality was not good enough. The chips were OK and I thought the salsa was pretty good. Margarita looked great, but had a strong mix taste. We actually did not finish our meal. I really hope they can make some improvements in the food quality, and if so I would go back someday.
