If I could give this review 6 stars, I would.
My girlfriend and I stayed at the Dorint for two days during our two week trip to Europe, which included a pass through Interlaken, Switzerland's outdoor / skiing capital. The service was nothing short of exceptional. Our room was situated on the 10th floor, overlooking the beautiful Interlaken lakes, mountainside, and villages below. The hotel itself is at 2000m (6600 feet) above sea level, and 1400 m or so above Interlaken below. Waking up with the view alone is worth the trip. The room itself was nice, one of the largest in our Europe trip, and included a full size bed, bathroom, kitchenette, table, and two chairs, along with the balcony, of course. Downstairs are a number of amenites, including a pool, sauna, outside lounge area, and bar. The hotel also included an excellent restaurant we ate at twice that served authentic cheese fondue. Included is a free breakfast (uncommon in Europe) that includes a large number of European cheeses and meats, omlettes, as well as the usual breakfast items.
The best part of this hotel, by far, is the service. Every staff member was friendly, smiled, was (surprisingly) young, and extremely courteous. It just so happened that my stay also included my birthday, and it seemed as if everyone knew it was my birthday, from the restaurant staff to the manager, to even employees in the hall, who somehow recognized us. They were so kind to even surprise us with a card and a bottle of wine in our room to celebrate the day. This kind of treatment for a hotel of its size is unheard of to me, and we were extremely pleased - our best stay in Europe.
The only downside is that this hotel is a 15 min drive up from Interlaken (how else will you get to 2000m?) but it's worth every minute. If you stay in Interlaken, stay here! read more
