There are 10 covered shelters with picnic tables and you are assigned a picnic table when you arrive. Everything is self serve - including the cooking griddle, burners, utensils, foods etc. You grab all the food including meats from the fridge, and any extras (rice, soup stew, veggies, seaweed, corn cheese etc) and let the couple running the show know which tent # tab to add the items on, then you square up at the end. For banchan, there was fermented perilla leaves, lettuce, ssamjang, fermented garlic, regular garlic, onion salad, and kimchi. All the veggies are grown on their farm and you can walk around and check out where it's growing, very cool! They were growing peppers as well! The meat was fresh and we loved the relaxing outdoor picnic vibe. There's no time limit on your stay so you could talk the evening away... a playground is also on site for those that want to bring kids, and on-leash dogs are allowed! There's two picnic tables per shelter so you could easily fit 8 people, up to 12 for a cozier vibe. A very fun experience just 30 minutes outside of Burnaby, or about an hour from downtown Vancouver. They came to us this morning, along with some ice cream and bananas. There is definitely a cool treat on the menu for dessert after dinner this evening! There were a few tries of the berries when they arrived here - so good - but we are really looking forward to the servings this evening, after the berries have been able to cool in the fridge, and are served with the ice cream, et al. Edit to add: enjoyed them so much, had to have more, and a whole box for us this time!!!

We call to ask about the berries, we go, we pick, we talk, the kids have a great time in the maze and throwing each other off the hammocks (brothers and sisters, you know how it is) and I have great time everytime I see the stand of Birch trees and tell my kids about swinging them (Robert Frost - Birches). We went on a wonderful trail ride- horses were well groomed, generally listened well. Kids 10 and…read moreabove could ride a horse on their own; using their helmets is mandatory for kids. Kids younger than 10 need to have a guide hold their horse the entire way, so each group can only have one kid less than age 10. They have big horses that can accommodate up to 240lbs. The one hr ride we went on took us around blueberry and raspberry fields, with really pretty views. For last 1/3 of ride it was through forest area and we got to go through a creek. Wildflowers were gorgeous and we even saw a bear! Around 11 am it was pretty hot and sunny- would recommend big shady hats and lots of sunscreen. Parts got pretty dusty so if sensitive, bring a balaclava. Not allowed to have anything around neck (not even a cross body purse) so consider a Fanny pack if you wanted to bring stuff with you, or a wristlet type attachment if you want to use your phone for photos during ride. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. We would go again in a heartbeat.
