After a long and stressful search to find the right home for a family member we decided on the Dorchester for the following reasons. Kristen W who is the leasing consultant made this process easier for us. She is a compassionate individual who understood our situation and went out of her way to make this transition easier for us. We were really impressed with the cleanliness of the property as well as the genuine care and consideration The Dorchester staff provides to their residents. Because of this it reassures us that our brother is in good hands and is in a safe environment that will meet his needs. We moved a friend in The Dorchester 11/2019 because it was clean and everyone seemed very friendly. We moved her out a year later. We found their staff hard to communicate with...rarely returned calls. Management changed and it went downhill. Upon departure we left the apartment spotless. We hired a professional carpet cleaning service and a professional housekeeper. Today I was informed that the deposit we paid ($1000) was a non refundable community fee. Ridiculous! We moved my loved ones in earlier this year, and we are satisfied with the service we have gotten thus far. While no place is perfect, I will say that the staff is very responsive and helpful. We have not encountered a single resident that is not friendly and helpful, which in my opinion says a lot about the environment. They have events planned every month. They have a really good menu planned monthly and also have onsite library, barber/beautician, nails etc... In addition to being in safe location and clean facility. The Doctors visit the facility regularly and work with us being informed. The staff is always friendly and respond quickly to any request. Considering other facilities we toured, The Dorchester is by far a place we feel comfortable placing our loved ones in. Its convenient to so much ( dining, shopping, etc..) yet still in a setting convenient for seniors. We look forward to a continued growing relationship with this facility and its staff. I sent my 95 year old mother in law who lives in these Dorcester Apartments a box full of Christmas gifts via UPS from Pennsylvania where I live to Pineville, NC. UPS confirmed TWICE that the package was delivered, once when the driver scanned it and then again when they placed a tracer on it since my mother in law never got the package. UPS delivered the package on 12/18. When I checked in with my mother in law on Christmas Eve and she still had not received the package, I contacted the manager. I was told sorry but they looked all over and couldn't find it. The package was large and weighed 14 lbs. How could you have lost it? This woman at the Dorchester basically said to me, we don't have it and too bad. UPS will not reimburse me the $100 insurance because they delivered the package. Between the contents of the package and the shipping costs, I paid more than $120 and this woman said they would not reimburse me. Bottom line, they either lost the package or it was stolen at this facility. My mother in law got not gifts from our family and we were all screwed by the negligence and incompetence of these people whoever they are. I WILL NEVER EVER SEND ANYTHING TO MY MOTHER IN LAW AGAIN TO THIS PLACE. I will send to a relative and have it hand delivered. Others beware, if your loved ones live in this place, DO NOT SHIP THEM ANYTHING OF VALUE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE OUT THE MONEY WHEN THEY LOSE YOUR PACKAGE OR IT GETS STOLEN! read more
