Jerome called ahead to make certain that we would be home and showed up right on time. He made a recommendation for a particular brand. I purchased that brand from a local retailer and Jerome installed it In about an hour; it worked perfectly (and was much quieter), so I decided to replace the other, older opener, to match the new one. Jerome came back a few days later (once I had the opener in hand) and performed that work. He patiently worked with me to program the outside openers and the opener on the dash of one of our cars. He took the old openers away (without my asking). I couldn't be happier.

The repair was quick, polite and did a good job in about 15-20 minutes. Then I got the bill: Parts $134. (ok); labor $88.00 (sort of ok) and then a service call charge on top of that: $45. (Not ok.) As the repair man was fixing the door opener I kept saying, "Maybe I should just get a new door opener." He offered no opinion and didn't tell me what this call would cost, vs. a new garage door opener. Find out up front what Overhead Doors service cost will be before proceeding!

This company website stated that it was a Veterans owned company, and it came recommended from my local Home Depot. They were able to schelude us for the next day appointment (December 2, 2025), and stated that we would be given a free inspection. We were contacted when their technician (Parker) was enroute to our home, so I was impressed with their communication. Parker was very professional and knowledgeable. He performed the inspection and gave us a free 30 day quote for replacement of the one broken torsion spring. We felt like their quote was extremely overpriced at $489.00, considering a new spring doesn't cost more than $100 from Amazon, Walmart, Home Depot, or Lowe's. We did agreed to get the work done, only because of our busy work schedule and upcoming travel plans. It literally only took the technician 45mins to complete the entire job (counting the free inspection), which I totally felt like they overcharged us considering the parts and labor didn't cost $489.00. If that is what a military person got charged, I'd hate to see what they would have charged someone that wasn't military affiliated. But, as my husband told Parker this could be an very easy DIY project with the help of YouTube. When we asked if they did anything for the military, Parker said they could give us their $50 dollar online coupon to help reduce the overall price. So we were charged $439 in total after the coupon because we paid by personal check. If the customer wants to pay with credit card, be advised that there is an additional charge for that convenience per the fine print of our free quote. We were glad to get my garage door back working, but we don't know if we would recommend OGD to our neighbors, friends, or family. We always try to support Veterans owned businesses, but we truly felt that $489 for an 1 hour job was very overpriced.

After I had a door spring break, I called them on Thursday and made an appointment for their first available time slot on Tuesday between "2 and 4". At 2:30, after not hearing from the repairman, I called for status. Carol said "did you make the appointment with the boss, Brian or with me?" After I said her, I was told it was scheduled for NEXT Tuesday, a full 10 days from when I initially called. So the bottom line is it appears to be a one-man-show with more work than he can handle and an appointment person who doesn't know how to operate a basic calendar. So I called Overhead Door company like I should have who came out in 2 days and did a great job for a fair price!
