I let my dog, Toby, splurge on a shopping spree when we were last in the area, and he picked out his favorite toy of all time, what I have christened his "Scare Bear" ™ Toby, a black lab, great pyrenees, terrier, hound mix was seen all around Fall Fest this year, with Scare Bear in his mouth. He brought it home to Chicago with us, and he sleeps with it, goes on walks with it, and sits it next to him on the chair or the couch. Toby is almost six years old, and this is his first ever toy that he hasn't even attempted to destroy in some way. It's a true comfort item, and he picked it out himself! Toby does some volunteer search and rescue work, and loves to help people and animals in between roughhousing with Mommy and other dogs and running around like a crazy man. He used his Scare Bear to comfort an older gentleman who was having a hard time walking at Peninsula State Park, and he even offered the guy Scare Bear for comfort as he walked the man back to the parking lot. Our dog Larry is a large Weimaraner/Mastiff with a silver coat. Since I have adopted him he has had skin issues. From 6 months old I was treating him with a skin infection, he was red and full of rash on his underbelly, months I did antibiotics and it still continued. I then switched his food to a well known brand from a local store. We saw improvement but really the hair on his back side never grew back and he would have flare ups all the time of rash and itching. Then we did rounds of weekly medicated baths, it really helped but it was a huge pain. Last fall we finally switched his food to the whitefish & duck from Pet Wants. Since then we have also got him allergy tested from our vet and found out he is allergic to grass . Since last fall we have been religious with giving him his meds (Benadryl & melatonin) morning and night along with his new food. He finally has fur!!!!!!! Along with no rashes, no more infections under his legs, and his fur is shiny and I haven't even given him a bath in a long time. It is such a relief as a person who has dealt with this for almost 5 years to finally see something help! He never has any issues transitioning to the food, I mean he's a 130lb big boy who loves food I wasn't worried about that. But Pat was great about giving us samples to test him with it to see how he did. Since Larry has been on his new food he is consuming less food then he had on past foods. The biggest thing for me with our experience with Pet Wants Green Bay is their customer service. Pat is wonderful to work with! He delivers the dog food right out our house, every batch of dog food has a hand written letter in it. Today we were leaving town for Memorial Day and I forgot to place my order this week so I placed my order this morning and within minutes I got a text that he would have it there by noon! It's not only good food but wonderful service! I would highly recommend to anybody looking for a good brand dog food for their pets!

Last time we had lamented the local extinction of meadowlarks. Now we talked about how we miss Savannah sparrows. The owner carries many kinds of bird feeds and feeders. Nothing more fun that two capable birders having a good talk about our love for birds and how mankind is destroying the wildlife on the planet. (Well that's not that fun to talk about; but it is a reality). As you can figure I really like shopping here and talking with my friend. I now have sunflower seeds for a month. If you are a lover of nature and want to do something to help, come to Havegard. buy some feeders and something to put in them; and you can start to save the planet one bird at a time. They're large, male, no nonsense and very expressive, and they were genuinely happy and content there and I didn't have to worry about them. My only complaint would be that they really stunk on the ride home and we immediately took them for baths. This is a reasonably priced, lack of frills place, but I know when my guys are happy and well taken care of and that's what matters. We will be back!

Immediately I could tell that she had warmed up to the owner as she was no longer barking and was giving him friendly nudges. We took her for a walk and returned. This time she happily went into her kennel, which was a huge relief. She was not sad that we had left for another day. The next day, when we came to pick her up, Dave immediately told us that she had complete change of heart and that she was as sweet (to him) as can be. And I could tell that she was treated nicely and that she was happy there. But still even more happy to go home :-) Dave is constantly walking around the property with "his" dogs, which is exactly what Bailey needed. I give Dave and his kennel 5/5 stars!
