My 17 year old grandson went in to buy a fish for his fish tank. He was told they could not sell…read moreto him because he was underage. So he asked a customer nearby if he could be his dad for the day and buy it for him. My grandson would pay. The night manager of the Marinette store said this was "harassing her customers" so she would not have a sales transaction where he was involved. I happened to be shopping in a different store in the same mall that night. We accidently bumped into each other so he told me she would not sell to him because he was only 17. I then went into the store to see if she would sell the fish to me. She refused because I was with him. I have never met this women and have never shopped in Petco before so I was surprised at her insistence that she would not conduct a transaction with me either. When I asked what did he do that was harassing others, she told me that he asked a customer if he could be his dad for the night. Obviously, it was in jest. My grandson is a clean cut, very well known athlete in the area and just wanted to buy a fish for his tank. In my 40 years of managing customer service departments at large companies, I have never heard of someone turning away new customers because they didn't like who he was with. That was a very poor business decision. I will not shop there again. Nor will the people I know.

And - he was right! We found a huge selection of a good variety of smoked salmon - "original", hot/spicy, lemon-garlic, brown sugar - even more that are delicious. The sealed packages are perfect for traveling and taking for picnics! They all looked beautiful, and were a good price. When we opened our package up - the best tasting too! Plus, it goes great with the local cheese curds!!! YUM! AND, Beaver Fishing Lures are available This is a woman, locally owned business that produces some of the most attractive and fun lures. It ended up being my first stop upon arriving to town. I was able to stock our family up on some essentials for our trip - WF Beef sticks, carrots, onion, and canned whole cranberry for our Thanksgiving Dinner, and some Wild Basin seltzers. There was so much to see and so many familiar brands. I was amazed by the selection and wished I had more time to wander and take it all in. The woman who helped me was kind and welcoming. Tanks are clean in appearance and no signs of dead fish laying about (as is common in many chain fish stores). Not a bad choice for those stepping up from a novice fish keeping level. Unlike the chain stores, and as is common in many independently operated fish stores, you won't find any posted information regarding community versus aggression levels, potential size growth, and such. While the owner is helpful in this area, it pays to either have done your homework on fish first, or be prepared to do some quick research online while you're there.
