In fact, looking at her past reviews of various "dining" experiences (mostly State side btw) I would think she would have given up going out entirely after SO many disappointing meals. I don't typically have a sweet tooth, nor am I huge on bread, so the butterfly loaf was not my favourite. However, my boyfriend loved it, and it's truly great value for your dollar. I will be thinking about the cream-filled donut for a long time. SO delicious. It was just the right texture and melted in my mouth. Took my 5 year to the bakery for the first time. I'm local and have constantly been hearing the hype. Whip cream, whip cream, whip cream as far as the eye can see. Chocolate eclairs should have custard filling, not whip cream but that's just my opinion. Everything looks overly sweetened, which I guess makes sense as the sign says it was declared the "Sweetest bakery". I heard about the Pizza Bagels and saw a bag - they were very soft - didn't seem like a bagel to me and I love bagels ordering bagels from Montreal regularly. My daughter opted for the cream filled donut, $2.20 for one. She didn't finish it leaving 1/2 behind. A 5 year old passed it up? An hour later I offered it to her and she didn't want it. I took a bite - donut was pleasantly soft, and mouth was coated with a sickly sweet taste for about 10 minutes. The rest ended up in the bin. Stopped by another local store and commented on our experience and the owner made a face when I mentioned Doohers, then talked about how she loves eclairs but doesn't like Doohers at all as they is no custard in their products. I guess I'm not alone. Several hours later spoke to a friend that is - how shall I say - a not small person who looooves his desserts - pies, cakes, donuts, he's a hoover vacuum! j He told me he was only in Doohers once. Never returning as he was unimpressed. If you love whipped cream and over the top mouthfuls of sugar you'll love it. The bread was very very soft, perfect if you have few teeth and don't like to chew - donut was soft and fresh. There was a good # of people in the store and more than adequate staffing but was confusing, slow and disorganized. If it was really busy I can see it needed lineups and organization as checkouts were very slow due to both customer and staff confusion - seemingly. Will I go back? Nope, once was enough. Been there now, not my cup of tea, nor my 5 year old's either. read more

Amazing place. Super fresh, delicious baked goods and some cool aprons hidden amongst the food from a local seamstress which were fun and amazingly cost effective! Try the cheese bread. Meat pies too if they have any; they sell out regularly and you have to ask for them! read more

One of my favourite bakeries in the country, probably top 3. Loads of delicious pastries, breads, and other desserts. They arguably make the best donuts I have ever had, super soft and almost cake-like in texture. It can get busy at times and the store layout is a bit unorthodox, but its absolutely worth the detour if you are in the area. read more

Highly recommended by all the locals. You go in and there is a line of locals waiting to buy their favorite baked goods. You can also see several orders waiting to be picked up. Large variety of breads. Plenty of different baked sweets, all very good, and the famous cream filled donut, melts in your mouth. Go early in the morning to get everything you want because by the afternoon half of the things are gone. read more

Love this place! Their pizza bagels are a must-try! Every time I'm up at the cottage, my family makes it a point to pick up their fresh pizza bagels for breakfast. And man, they're a treat. The bread is fresh and fluffy, with rosemary baked right in. There is plenty of tomato sauce and cheese topping, so it's never plain or dry. If you warm them up at home, the cheese just oozes into the centre, and every bite is full of flavor. They also make fresh bakery sweets, including 'donuts-of-the-month'. Another reviewer mentioned the donuts 'puts Timmies to shame' - although I can't agree, they're not bad. Coming by around 10:30, after breakfast, their donuts were pretty stale. So although, Tim Horton's is not 'top-notch', at least at Timmies, they regularly bring out fresh ones. BUT, there are plenty of other fresh/"fresh" baked goodies! You`ll also find an assortment of cookies, muffins, tarts and pies. Worth mentioning: Coconut Tarts, Butter Pecan Tarts It's a relatively small bakery, so it gets a bit cramped, especially when lines get long (they start on both sides, both doors), but they move fairly quickly. TLDR; Must try their pizza bagels! If you're craving for something sweet, try their tarts! read more

Love this bakery. Many fond memories getting the perfect gingerbread cookie in my youth when we would visit cottage country. Very much enjoy the tarts, especially the raspberry. Now that I have blackberries, I wish they had their own cookbook or more recipes online! Update: I emailed them via their online system over 72hrs ago and have not heard back. I would suggest that you do not use that to preorder your items. read more

After reading the reviews we drove to Cambellford to see for our selves. 1) Loaf Brown Bread - ho hum. A strong smell of yeast and tasted a bit floury ie not really an improvement over grocery store bread. 2) Meat Pies - two "hamburger" and two turkey. The filling was had no meat just thick gravy. The pastry was good. 3) Sausage Rolls - boiled grocery store sausages wrapped in pastry. Terrible. Again good pastry but the worst sausage ever. 4) Donuts - excellent. Conclusion - in the food industry all the marketing and online promotion of your brand will fail if your product does not follow through with your bloated self promotion. In our view this is a great store for a small town but in a larger context ie Southern Ontario, there are better bakeries. read more

People come from all over to visit Doohers. 5 stars all the way. This place is a gem. They always give my kids gingerbread cookies and all of their items are extraordinary. My personal favorites are the raspberry and lemon tarts I love the fresh muffins banana nut and banana and chocolate are amazing as is the brand blueberry and frankly all of them are extraordinary. Service is delightful and that cheese bread just melts in your mouth. I would drive three hours to go just to this place. Go, you will not regret it. It's a life-changing experience! read more

reasonably good cream-filled dougnuts, but service is unfriendly and they handle your bread and your money at the same time without gloves or washing their hands - at least in 2012 when I was there last. For those reasons I rate lower, otherwise 3.5 stars for the food. read more
