Unfortunately only the plain butter tarts were left. We grabbed a couple to try out. They are not of the real gooey variety fyi -- but still quite nice, the pastry really flaky. Do give this place a try and I think next time, I would try some of their other treats, like date squares or lemon bars.

When this business was The Buttertart Factory, it was amazing. I'm not quite sure what's going on,…read morebut the standards have fallen drastically while the prices have climbed. It's very disappointing. For a while, I lived for their apple fritters. In May of 2024, I discovered that they no longer put apples in their apple fritters -- perhaps as a cost-saving measure. My family purchased half a dozen fritters, which turned out to be nothing but large slabs of dough with a cinnamon glaze. In June, all varieties of fritters (thankfully) appear to have been removed from the menu. The butter tarts, which once had a flaky pastry and an insanely good, buttery filling, have become worse than the generic tarts found in a No Frills supermarket. Clearly, costs are clearly being cut. Worst of all, the location (in Druro) has added an extremely pricey take-out stand. One of my friends paid a whopping 16 dollars for a chicken burger. No fries, no drink: just a piece of lettuce, a tomato, a gob of mayo and (an admittedly large) slice of fried chicken on a bun. I believe that the owners see this as an easy money grab, as they serve those commuting to Bancroft and back during cottage season. You'd think that for 16 dollars a pop for a chicken burger the owners would provide more than an outhouse to customers. You'd also hope that they'd make sure the outhouse was serviced often enough to prevent feces from piling to the rim. Nope. For obvious reasons, I will be ending my patronage of this establishment.

When I arrived the chairs had been stacked, likely for cleaning duties. I picked up a coffee and a tahini maple brownie to go. When I had each of these the following day, recognizing the time lapse may interfer with the quality and therefore my experience, both were delicious. At first I wasn't all too impressed with the brownie. I didnt get any hint of tahini and the sweetness was a lot. I heated up the coffee and was prepared to have it black, an unusual occurrence, yet sipping at it to make room in my mug for my oat milk, it had a very mild flavour. It wasn't acidic, which some coffees with notes of citrus tend to create. It was smooth, made all the more better with a peice of the brownie in my mouth at the same time. Mind blown and magickal. So at first, not impressed with the brownie, yet having it in a new way, wow! Definitely a pairing for the win! Loved the ambiance, they had a cozy lil table and chairs in the window, surrounded by plants that made it look and feel like aspace in your living room. Also a hexagonal shelf with even more plants next to the bar, on way to the washroom. The art on the walls, amaze-balls! Really, quite beautiful. Lovely the owner is supportive of local talent. They have a shop attached, with second hand finds and teasures. I took a peak, yet didnt stay long. Its nifty and a concept that would be a first for me.
