This could be such an amazing camp, it's a camp on a huge lake! So fun! There are some good parts…read moreto this camp, but they have completely missed the mark in so many areas, and that's why we gave them the poor rating! Pros: So fun to be on a lake! All the canoeing, kayaking, swimming, and fun lake activities. Fun camp assistants. Great rifle and shotgun ranges Motor boating, and riding in helicopters Cons: The food is horrible! The food is the worst cafeteria style food ever! It was so cheap and greasy and nasty. Do not do their food plan, bring your own! It is not great to cook and clean, but it would be so much better than eating this junk! The merit badge classes are really poorly instructed! The classes are taught by young kids, usually 14 to 17 year old, who are just not great instructors. The "instructors" are unprepared, unknowledgeable and BORING! The classes are 3 THREE hours long!! This is way too long!! Most of the instruction for the classes lasted maybe a half an hour to and hour, and then they tried to fill in the rest of the time with just talking, or trying to play games, or coming up with unrelated things to do. The camp is treeless, hot, dry, and desolate. The outhouses are the worst I have ever seen! They are so smelly and in disrepair. Our boys had signed up to do the Paris Ice Caves expedition, and were very disappointed to have it be cancelled!! "Be prepared" obviously didn't apply to this camp.

This was my second BSA camp. Overall, I liked the location though there is little shade. Would I…read morecome back? Probably not. They offered many great merit badges but the instruction was 3 hours long killing most excitement for the boys. Finally after much instructions the boys were able to do something. In short, here are the biggest concerns. 1. No organization or leadership. They ran out of materials needed for classes our boys were in. They also let other scout groups come in and register the same day thus over crowding the classes and giving less time for those who registered earlier in the year. 2. Camp had little nutritional value and low quality. Boys this age need close to 3000 calories with all the exercise they are doing all day long. Meals were barely 600 for each meal. My suggestion would be to do yourself a favor and do NOT do the meal plan. For what you pay, it averages out to $6/meal. You probably get $2 worth. 3. Health Code Violations. There was poop in the showers for over several days. They never required to wash hands before eating and the bathrooms are not sanitary and the smell is suffocating. There were some highlights but unfortunately these issues overshadowed them.

All of the coaches are so friendly and I love that they have memorized the kids names. We do the Ninja Training. Each week is a new setup and new routine, so kids get a chance to try out all kinds of skills. The coaches also take a minute at the very end of each class to share a message such as not to bully or don't answer the door at home, get your parent. I don't know if this is permanent or just a summer thing, but for an additional cost you can sign up your child for a 3 hour Parents Night Out on select Fridays. Basically a chance for you to leave your child with trusted coaches while you take some well deserved time out for yourself. I highly recommend this gym and I'm so glad I gave them a try! They often have sign up offers such as for one whole week you can try all of the classes for a fraction of the price. Which is how I was able to decide which class to enroll my child in.

The coaches/teachers are amazing and endlessly patient with the kids. My daughter has learned so many great social skills from being here. I'm so glad I found this place!
