Feb3, 2026 Carencro Store. Bought seasoned cracklings and 6 links of cold boudin and 2 links warmed cut up to go. Cracklings were overcooked, dry and tasteless the cut-up boudin had too much black pepper!!‍ way over rated! Please don't ask the workers for help! Especially if you buy a certain item and you ask for it a certain way they will purposely give you the opposite! I don't know if they are trained that way or not! Example I need three filets but only multiples of two so I will ask for one out of a pack (and ever notice how the meat under the sticker price is a horrible cut) well if you dare to ask for the other the butcher will give you the cut under the price every time! I don't know what happened but when I say tasted yuck . my sausage taste like pickles and no need to worry it melted in the plate , I had to chase it to eat it (and usually it's amazing, used to snap best ever ) . the rice dressing , not sure if they changed the recipe but it had no flavor !!! only thing that tasted okay was the beans , coleslaw and bread , whats going on Dons ? very dissatisfied I just can't believe that you let someone serve that slop , my husband's pork steak was tough I'm just not believing I'm writing this about a place that HAD the best around . $50.00 for the worst food ever !!! read more

We picked up boudin balls and boudin using their drive-thru. Service was great. Happy smiling face, great attitude. Boudin balls need to be redesigned. The outer coating was terrible. Probably the worse I've ever had. Boudin was a bit better. Was not dry. Was a bit to much white pepper giving that lingering taste making you look for a drink to calm it down. Location is handy. This is a lunch counter and little convenience store with clean restrooms. Had the grilled chicken salad. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and the lettuce was fresh, not from a bag. Was pleasantly surprised there was a salad option and it was made with fresh ingredients. Took about 10 minutes to come out and we ate at the outdoor tables which were also clean. read more

If you are looking for boudin balls this is the spot. They are big and meaty and not full of rice like some places make them. The pepper jack version was ok and the cracklin was a little hard but if you get them freshly prepared they would have been better. Texas born - and my particular area has a lot Cajun influence in TX... I always stop here to pick up my boxes of boudin ( makes a great gift, snack or dish to serve at a backyard gathering) . I can prepare them better my way by throwing them on a grill!! If you're a pork grind fan don't forget to pick some warm pork grinds up!! I also get a bunch of their andouille sausage and freeze it for when I make gumbo. The also are a McWare dealer- McWare only supplies to local family owned businesses and not big box corporations to help give small businesses a competitive advantage. This really should be a five star review. I went and had one of the plate lunches the beef tips over rice and it was stellar. Very very good food for a reasonable price. The Wi-Fi did not work. I asked three employees to give me the Wi-Fi password and they all said that they weren't authorized to give it out to anybody even though it was a guest Wi-FiOne girl flat out told me I'm not even trying to get you the password. Ok so after being gone for a year I was so ready for some Billy's boudin but I was so disappointed after $60 of hot food and it not tasting the same ata lo I decided to try the new Don's. I'm not a fan of their I-10 location, never have been. The new Don's on I-49 and hector Conlley is amazing! First of all I was impressed driving up. I know it's new but it was just sooooo clean. Walked inside to their very large store and took a gander at everything. We ended up with boudin and cracklin. I wish I wasn't full I'd love to eat more. The boudin was perfect and cracklin seasoned just how I like it. As I was walking out I saw slush puppies! I haven't seen those in 15 years! I was so excited. Two thumbs up. We ordered a large selection of various meats and had them shipped. They were packed well and arrived frozen solid. The Boudin was fantastic and had a little spicy kick. Order lots - probably my all time favorite Boudin. The Andouille was very good. The Tasso was spicy and very good. The Hot Pork Sausage was spicy and great. This is a new location that just opened a few days ago. This is a great new dining and specialty meat market in Cajun country. They have separate ordering counters for boudin and cracklins. There is a different counter for ordering plate lunches and various other foods. Outside they have eating areas. Had items shipped, Boudin and Cracklins. Both were awful, awful, awful. The Boudins were not authentic at all. Too much pot quality, tough meat, not enough rice. All I could taste was pepper. Worst Boudin I've ever had in my life. I am from that area of Louisiana. I grew up eating real genuine homemade Boudin that my grandmother made. I know Boudin and these Boudins I received from Don's, I threw away all of them after the first bite of one. Real sad and a waste of money, lots of money. Including the Cracklins that were hard, overcooked and had a burnt taste. I purchased 2-1.5 lbs jars that I had to throw away. I've been to Don's before, in person and it wasn't like this. Tourist trap. Post-Lockdown cracklins are now over $21 per pound - not much spice on them either. The plate lunch was ok. The shrimp poboy, which is NOT made on poboy bread... had 12 shrimps on it. Looked like and had the texture of cracklings. Horrible! Asked for tartar sauce and had to pay extra for that. Menu said it came with bread pudding but I got fruit salad on my plate. I always feel uncomfortable in there. I'm 37 and I feel like there's no adults working in this store. If your not a local (meaning they see you every day) they treat you like $hit.
