Customer service is so great. We've driven past a couple times, the "Bacon Bomb" finally got the husband to stop. They make them fresh in house: turkey, chicken or beef with cream cheese and jalapeños wrapped in bacon. Store is stocked with spices and marinade, along with pellets and fire chips. My go-to spot for dog ground food and dog chew bones. They always have great options, everything feels high quality, and it's nice knowing I'm getting stuff my dog actually loves. Stopped in on Saturday and were immediately welcomed by the friendly owner. It was our first time here so he walked us through the butcher shop. We ended up taking home the chicken bacon jalapeño cheese bomb. It baked up so nicely. We rubbed it with a seasoning blend we had on hand. We also picked up a few steak fritters and some frozen chicken cordon blues. Chicken quarters are a great price too. We will be back for sure. Nothing like buying meats from an actual butcher shop instead of the big commercial chain stores. The customer service and humor was much appreciated. read more

I got the bacon bombs and was recommended it by the gentleman behind the counter he explained it had ribeye inside it as well of chicken, cream cheese and jalapeno. It was beyond my standards it was cooked perfectly and tender and soft and no seasoning needed. I keep seeing Don's meats while driving in the area. I honestly didn't think much about it. However, I was looking for alternative to my local Wallie World same old. I though, it couldn't hurt to just drop in as see what they offer and what the prices were like. I felt welcome the second I walked in. The individual that helped me (honestly can't remember his name) answered all my questions. The first time I walked out was with a couple of pounds bacon and hot dogs. Damn they were good; the kids devoured the dogs. I've gone in for this or that cut of meat, and they all turned out most excellent. The bacon thick and oh so good. Then Thanksgiving rolled around. I ordered a bird and while it was a little more on the expensive side and not the usual .99 cent a pound birds you see at Wallie World. This bird cooked up nice and tender. Later down the road I ordered a half a cow and a half of a pig. One of the best decisions I've ever made. The bacon was the first to go (of course, its bacon). The great part about it, Don calling me personally helped me with my order. Customizing it to my family's needs. Thanks Don you rock. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to friends and family (as I already have). Honestly, you may pay a little extra for the meat, HOWEVER, you'll more than make up for it in quality. Both beef and pork were far better tasting than Wallie World meat hands down. read more

This is not a fancy establishment, but if you are seeking basic cuts of meat at a reasonable price, it is a great place to go. They must butcher some of their products on location, though I did not verify that, and it is definitely not all as they had some outside branded hot dogs and such. But they have A LOT of options, even bulk deals for half a cow, crock pot packs, etc. There is a small case of fresh or defrosted goods near the cash register including marinated meats, sausage, bacon, their special tri-tip, and more, but the majority of what they offer is frozen. I do not mind this personally, but I know some people prefer never-frozen meat. They also sell smokers, pellets, seasoning salts, barbecue sauce, and other grilling accessories. The most impressive find for me was brisket at $3.99 a pound, which is the same price I pay at Costco. I did not buy any this time, but certainly will come here in the future for that cut alone as it can be up to double that price at a grocery store. I did end up getting a few goodies, though: bratwurst and super thin sliced ribeye for Philly cheesesteaks. Prices all around seemed good to impressive. It was very clean, and all employees were helpful. read more

Highly Recommend the Las Vegas Rub they make on hand!!!! I've literally rased my family on it. Ribeye's and the bacon wrapped steaks are the best but you really do get a much more pocket friendly experience when you go with any of the frozen package deals!! Our new favorite butcher shop! Wife and I have been patronizing to the other meat shop there in Holladay for years now (and still use their dry seasoning on many of our steaks), but when they were closed this week, we sought out a new location. Lo and behold, Don's Meats was even closer that the Holladay butcher shop, so that's great too. We ended up purchasing ten ribeye's for a family party, and wow did they turn out great! Nothing like a well-marbeled 'fall-apart' ribeye for dinner, medium-rare of course. And instead of using the dry "Lindberg-Snider Porterhouse & Roast Seasoning" this time, we went back to an old faithful, "Dale's Steak Seasoning" which we've been using for over 30 years. We marinated the steaks in Dale's and let them sit for a while. Later we grilled them up and they were fantastic! The ladies at Don's were very nice and helpful, and as a result, we'll be back! 5 Stars...and our new favorite butcher (and because they're open until 7:00 pm on Fridays too!) read more

Gotta say, when you need a good cut of meat, this is the place to go. Moving from Portland to SLC, I needed to find a good butcher because I love to smoke and bbq. This place has it all. Give them a shot, you won't be disappointed. They also sell Blues Brother sauces, such a win. read more

It doesn't look like they have been reviewed in a while. I love this place. I have been going to them for the past couple of years. They cut my short ribs to order so I can cook my Korean Barbecue. They marinate my steaks (and the cuts are nice) so I don't have to. I just appreciate the time they take in helping me find great cuts of meat, marinades and making my grilling life easier. I grew up in this area but moved to a small town a year ago. One thing small towns often have on more suburban areas is friendly and genuine shop owners and employees. My mom and I went in to get some meat to stock our freezer for the month and I was blown away by how friendly and helpful the service was. I'll be making the hour drive more often for this place, because the prices are great and they know how to make their customers feel valued! Picked up a santa maria tri-tip roast for a Memorial Day BBQ. Excellent cut of meat with little fat and deliciously marinated. The service felt more customer-friendly than a larger butcher shop I've been to in the past - I felt I could ask questions without being rushed.
