I do not write reviews often, as it is a rule to generally only write them when I have received outstanding service. So, I must share the outstanding experience I had this afternoon. Today I had the absolute BEST car buying experience of my life! I have been emailing with Jenny a few times over the past several months and when I was ready she helped get the ball rolling. Her and Jim both had everything set up along with Nick in finance. I was able to come to the dealership and sign all the documents over my lunch break!! How much more convenient can you make this?! The only flaw was that I could not go for a joy ride, because I had to go back to work. A pretty fair trade off for not having to use a day off from work to purchase a vehicle. I told Jim as I left today, I will be seeing you in a few years! Frankly, if they made this experience hassle free, I can only imagine how fantastic a returning customer will be treated. David Swald from Don's ford is possibly the worst person I've ever had the displeasure of working with. It's been almost two months since I had to get my valve stems replaced and he still hasn't satisfied this issue. I brought the truck I bought from them that is still under warranty to get the valve stems replaced and one of the mechanics damaged my rim. I reach out politely to get it refinished. David has done nothing but ignore me and give me attitude. He keeps sending me this invoice but he put on the wrong valve stems.. why would I pay for yet ANOTHER mistake he made? I will not only never recommend anyone get a car from this place, but I will actively make sure everyone I know avoids going there. I've been going to them for scheduled service because that's where i bought the vehicle so I figured they'd be decent to work with. You usually find good service from workers who hope to get return business. Boy was I mistaken. Now I'm experiencing a bubbling noise when I turn off the motor so I'm assuming in his negligence, they either didn't replace the cap properly, or more likely didn't bother filling the coolant on my last service. My Wife and I recently Bought a 2020 jeep compass that was advertised for $15,300. When we first did our application our payments were in the $600's. I Noticed that the financed amount was over $21,000. I asked what was going on and it was because there was over $5,000 in warranties I never asked for. I told rick that I wanted them off and was assured they would be. a few days later we came back to pick up the jeep and sign paper work. Our payments were lower but i thought it was because of my wife's credit. a couple a days later i sat down and looked over everything. not only was there over $3,000 in warranties on there but the upped the price to $16,900 without tell us. matter of fact they put the old paperwork with the original price stapled to the new so we wouldn't know. I have all the paperwork and pictures to prove this. I was told they would take the warranties off. I have yet to hear about anything and i still owe over $20,000 for a jeep that has side damage and interior damage ive offered to return the vehicle for our deposit back. I scheduled a oil change today for 1pm, at 3pm I went up to the desk to see what was going on and they didn't even have the truck in yet. I would never have waited if I knew it would take that long. So completely wasted my time. They should have the decency to let me know, I would have left. This isn't the first time with bad service for me there so, today was my last day going there. Contacted Dons Ford for a 2023 Ram 1500. I was very upfront that the truck was for my cousin and her finance. I explained that I would be helping them with the transaction since their English wasn't the greatest. I was dealing with Michael Ferreira who told me that the truck was cherry so I asked him to send me a pic of the original window sticker and a walk around video of the tuck. I noticed that the truck was imported from Canada and that there was a large rock chip in the front bumper. I asked Mike if we were going to have any emission/registration issues since they live in California? He confirmed that they wouldn't and after some back and forth Mike offered us $1500 off so we left a deposit and started the financing process.  My cousin didn't have the best credit so she decided to put the truck in her fiancés name. He has A1 credit and a very good debt to income ratio. We went with the dealerships financing and Mike came back with a 9.55% APR (which was high) but they agreed to it anyhow. The plan was to refinance the truck once the truck was in California.  Everything seemed to be going as planned until the next day we got a text from Mike saying that they couldn't sell us the truck because it wouldn't pass CA emissions and that they were going to refund our deposit. I called Mike immediately, no answer. I called him again no answer. I texted him to please call us. He responded with a picture of the refund. I called the dealership  directly and was finally able to get ahold of him.  I asked Mike what happened since he confirmed that we wouldn't have emission issues before we started the deal. I reiterated to him that we didn't want to run credit and leave a deposit for this truck if it wasn't eligible to be shipped to CA. Furthermore we didn't want my cousins personal and sensitive information in the hands of any dealership unless it was to close a deal.  He said "he's just a sales associate" and to take it up with a manager. He was going to have one call us, which I knew was BS. I called the dealership over the next two days and left messages for managers Alan and Andrew (according to Mike). I didn't get a call back so I tried again. Finally I was able to reach Andrew who greeted me with a "what do you want" attitude. He was already familiar with the deal and confirmed that the truck wouldn't pass emissions so I asked for proof. He then switched subjects and said that my cousin didn't get approved for the loan which was BS since we have text proof from Mike that they were approved for a 9.55% rate. Plus we got confirmation from the bank rep over the phone. I told Andrew that it sounds like someone came in and offered him more money for the truck and being that they have our deposit and ran my cousins credit, it would be very unethical and unprofessional to sell it under our noses. His response was "and?".... That was his response lol. I told him ok I see where this is going and to look out for my review and he said "and?" This is a overdue review for an excellent dealership. I always come here to service my vehicles after having a bad experience at Burdick. Mike, the service manager was always courteous and accommodating to my busy hospital schedule. A loaner vehicle is always provided though you would have to book it at least a week in advance depending on availability. The dealership was bought out by Lithia motors back in 2016 however the management (both Sales and Service) has just been revamped only about 1-2 months ago. One impromptu stop at the dealership floor after servicing my vehicle has embarked my first business deal with them. Not only were they able to get me more for my trade, they have also discounted the vehicle so that it actually fits my minimal budget. The Sales Manager, Matt were excellent and I've known him since he was a CA 2 years ago. Bravo! The sales rep, AD, was also very thorough and attentive, making the sales experience more enjoyable. He also served the Army so thank him for his service! The general manager, John, was the one who came out and made the executive decision for my purchase and he had an excellent attitude. Unlike certain unapproachable GMs. The new finance manager, Nathan, was extremely friendly and was completely honest about his products. Did not try to sell me anything that he didn't think I needed. Bravo. Delivery was a breeze. Transition was smooth. Couldn't ask for better. Will definitely come back for my next vehicle while I am here. Highly recommended. read more

This dealership completely wasted my time. I had everything ready to purchase a specific vehicle. I even called ahead multiple times, confirming that I could drive the car home the same day as it's a 2-hour trip for me. They assured me over the phone that the vehicle was good to go. But when I arrived, they said it lacked necessary paperwork and inspection. They told me it'd take about 2 weeks, but it stretched to almost 2 months before I gave up on the deal. The dealership's misleading information not only wasted my time and money on travel but also showed a disregard for my urgent need for a reliable vehicle. Although they told me over the phone that the fate of the car was "In the hands of the DMV" that is extremely irrelevant because if the dealership were to be honest with us in the first place all of this could have been avoided. It's frustrating because I was misled. This happened on my only day off work, and my wife really needs a car. Being in the army, my time is limited, which makes this situation even more upsetting. Their lack of respect for my situation is disheartening. They should have been honest about the car not being ready, especially considering how crucial it was for us. read more

This was my experience: I found a car online and inquired about it. I asked very specific questions about its features. I travel an hour to look at this vehicle only to find out it DID NOT have ANY of the features I asked about, and the sales person I was communicating with was not there. After I was calmed down, another sales person helped me to see if they had anything else that would fit my needs. I had no intention of buying here after being lied to, but I did find a car that not only fit my needs, but they had it classified wrong, so it was under priced. We test drove it and it was great. We purchased the car. My son drove it home and said it was shaky. I thought, no way, it was smooth before, so I drove it. It was horrible. I immediately took it back. Their service department told me the tires were garbage. It was smooth when I drove it. Did they swap out the tires after they sold it to me?!? I told them I wanted new tires or give me my money back. They did change the tires. But wait, there's more. On a separate note, I purchased a vehicle on 6/28. They did not pay off my trade in until 7/10, which ended up costing me an additional $18.83. Whatever. But then I get a card in the mail that says I need to send them another $10 to get my registration !!! Bottom line, I spent $60,000 at this dealership, AFTER THEY LIED TO ME TO GET ME THERE, (I know, I should have RAN away), they tried to swap out great tires for garbage ones with "flat spots", their service department's words, not mine, they cost me $20 by holding my money for almost 2 weeks, and then held my registration ransom for an additional $10. After receiving a coupon from Don's for an oil change, I called to schedule an appointment. I had to change my original appointment and Kristen advised me that the oil change could be completed right in my driveway! Good deal! No driving to Utica and no sitting in a waiting room! Kristen contacted me prior to the appointment to let me know that the tech was on his way. Steve, who was polite and friendly, promptly got to work by laying down a tarp under the engine compartment of my truck so there would be no oil spill on my driveway! Your inability to articulate the availability of the vehicle of interest caused me to waste three hours of my time. You should have confirmed the availability of the vehicle when I called to advise you I was traveling to your location. Furthermore, the confusion regarding availability of the car once I arrived caused further waste of my time. The final act of the GM (John) failing to acknowledge the poor customer service only reinforced my opinion of your sales department. WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T BUY A USED CAR FROM THEM. I bought a used BMW from them. After the car was sold to me the salesman said they were going to pull it into service to go through it and do the inspection etc. AFTER THEY SOLD IT? So how do they know what they are selling you? It took 3 weeks for them to get parts. THEY PUT A NY STATE INSPECTION STICKER ON A CAR WITH THREADS SHOWING THROUGH THE TIRES ON THE INSIDE AND A CRACKED WHEEL. I'm still working with NY State who issued them a license to do inspections because that was totally illegal. We kept the tires as proof.I made 2 car payments before I could drive the car because the convertible top got stuck the first day. PARTS OF THE TOP WERE HELD ON WITH ZIP TIES! We have video of that. The salesman refused to return my calls. The GM did at first and then stopped. As a courtesy he paid for a limited extended warranty that covered nothing. They did pay for the cracked wheel. I had to have new tires put on. The struts were bad. THIS WAS ILLEGAL AND A NIGHTMARE read more

THEY WILL SELL YOU A CAR THAT WILL PUT YOU IN DANGER, AND BLAME YOU FOR BUYING IT. If there's any review you take to heart- let it be this one. I bought a 2013 Nissan Altima on June 4th 2022 for about 10k, 14k after taxes and warranty. I should've known from the start when my salesman Jeff was accepting phone calls about "horse racing bets" while I was sitting at his desk waiting for help. The car has had consistent problems starting from the first month despite them keeping it an extra few days to have it "completely looked at by the shop". 06/07/22 I had to have a wheel bearing replaced even though they stated they took car of them before giving it to me, and a wheel speed sensor which did not take care of my TPMS light problem but was told it was fine. 07/07/22 I lost power steering in the car so I brought it in and was diagnosed as being the steering shaft, and I had a broken heat shield. A few days later the car wouldn't start and I had to have it towed in and found out that the alternator was also bad. They sent the car back to me "fixed" but the heat shield still rattles to this day. During the 2 weeks it took to get the parts I was never offered any other source of transportation as there was "nothing left in the lot". 11/25/22 I had to have my rear rotors and breaks replaced, then in 12/01/22 I had to have both rear wheel bearings replaced. 05/02/23 the car slipped out of gear while driving and was diagnosed to have a faulty transmission. I was once again left paying monthly payments on a car that was not drivable and not offered any other transportation. And was told that had my warranty not covered the transmission I would also be responsible for fixing the multiple parts they broke (multiple large pieces of my suspension) while repairing it! Later on 05/31/23 I had to have both my mufflers replaced as they were completely rotted out despite having the car less than a year. On 07/19/23 the car wouldn't move out of PARK and I was told I had a bad shifter assembly and before I could fix that problem I found out that my rear tires were shot and the belt went through one of them while I was driving because of a rotted rear subframe (sonething they'd have seen when replacing my transmission but failed to mention to me). They didn't have faith in the shop I brought it to and requested I have it towed there immediately for them to confirm- which was out of pocket from me because they don't have a towing service. I rushed it there on Thursday just for them to not even get it on a lift till the following Monday. When I asked if they could check my warranty and please let me know as I have had my car fixed their multiple times and they have zero communication skills. I had to call them multiple times to find out the warranty won't cover it and Angel at Don's Ford offered to make it up to me by "buying out my car". Right away he called me by an incorrect name and said "she bought a 2013 Nissan Altima what else were you expecting" when a family member inquired why they would sell a car in such terrible condition to someone knowingly. Angel stated I would receive 8500 as a buy out from the car and they would handle the other 1556 out of pocket to get me into a new loan on a better car. Then a week goes by of me calling and waiting for monthly payment estimates with no answer despite leaving voicemails and being told they would get back to me. I showed up and was told it's been very busy but they actually did have a bank accept me for a loan which turned out to be $100 extra a month for no warranty and 1500 down payment, 45% APR rate PLUS they wouldn't be paying out of pocket for the 1556 that would be left over I would be responsible to cover that as well. Then a man I had never met was sent to tell me it was actually a trade in value and if I wasn't buying a car with them I would receive nothing from them. He actually laughed in my face when he was speaking to me as he was saying he couldn't even tell me what color my car is he was just there to explain what I needed to finance the new vehicle. All the while ruining my credit by adding multiple inquiries for a new loan before paying off my first one. read more

I received a call from James & I'm now the proud owner of a green Ford Bronco! The service James provided was exceptional! He answered my MANY questions & if he didn't know, he made sure to find someone who did! James was low pressure, very knowledgeable & I could tell he had done his research. I have held off bringing my BMW to Carbone and wish I hadn't. They are the only ones I now trust for a true, thorough diagnosis and when I got my car back, it felt and drove better than when I took it off the lot. Don't be scared by the diagnosis charges. Took my Fiesta for a oil change and recall. Told the recall would take 3-4 hours so I declined. Oil change took over 3 hours with an appointment. They recommend 1100$ worth of service for my car with 32k miles and tires less than 6 months old. They said one tire had a small defect while all the tires were worn and need replaced. When I questioned their recommendation they said oh, the tires are ok our mistake, I said I don't trust your judgement and declined all questionable service items. Won't go back. Bought a used vehicle there in March. Turned the A/C on for the first time in June. Lasted about 3 days. Emailed the first sales representative I dealt with, asking to be forwarded to the salesman who closed the sale. Have yet to hear back. Do not buy. Was in the market for a different car due to a change in life situations. Sales guy told me they were close to my desired payment, but i needed to get and fill out the credit application online. I did it while I was on the phone (my credit is fine). Credit guy said they were going to run my credit only twice as to not mess up my exception credit. Credit karma notifications were popping up like crazy. 5 notifications later. I spoke to the credit guy and they were 75 dollars away from my target payment. Thank you for whacking my credit 5 times for absolutely nothing!!!! Bought a used car from here, was having major transmission and engine issues within our first 60 days and was being constantly ignored by the dealership because they didn't want to fix it, finally got the car into the shop and they said everything was okay. I went to dons ford in hopes of working with them on a trade in that I knew I would have to roll over on. They come to me and say my car was a salvage and offered me $5,000 for a vehicle I owe $17,000 on. My title is not a salvage title nor is my car a salvage vehicle. The Carfax stated it was a total loss in 2015 (before i bought it). I called the dealership I bought the car from 4 years ago and brought it up. The Carfax shows total loss from 2015 but was never reported until 2020. Clearly the manager didn't care enough to look at the Carfax close enough. Kid still had the balls to say maybe we can work something out as if I'm going to roll 12 grand over on a car that is easily worth 12 grand. The carfax will be cleared of this total loss. Dons ford clearly didn't care to sell a car or even look into the Carfax to notice something was wrong with the dates. Last time I tried dealing with these guys they wanted to screw me on trade in value. Never again! read more

Buying a car should be a happy experience. Not so at this dealership. I purchased my 2017 Escape in August. Since then it has been back for service 2 times for knocking noise in engine, stalling while on the freeway twice(almost rear ended). When I took it in I was told to see Chris the Ast. service manager. He called the next day and said nothing was wrong with it BUT I needed new tires($650). Next day the car did the same thing and got worse in a few days. It stalled on route 12 while going to work at 6am. I called him twice with no return call. I showed up and person , he said he was "just going to call you". He said they could not get to the car for at least a week due to recalls and had no rentals to provide(I have a warranty). His attitude was like I was bothering him. I left and went to seek the sales person Danny I bought from. He was off and his co-worker said he would help and get me service and rental. No luck, no call the next day either. I called Danny and asked if he was informed of the situation, he said no. Ball dropped again. 2 days later Danny called and said they had a rental and James would take over on the service end. James said it would be done in a few days. 25 days later( I called twice a week and got no return calls until yesterday). He said it was done last Friday and I could get it. They said they could not find any problem other than sensors. I drove off the lot 3 miles and the car made the same noises and knocks. I called James and he said they test drove it 250 miles and no problems. 25 days for service is unreasonable and crappy customer service. Was I sold a lemon?? read more

If I could give Carbone BMW 0 stars I absolutely would! Mike Stanczyk, the Service Manager, is the most unhelpful person I have ever encountered. Had a flat tire on my brand new BMW while on a trip and stopped there since I have wheel locks. Mike told me that he "did not have the time" to help me and also told me "I don't need this today." Apparently Carbone BMW does not have the key to take wheel locks off even though they are given them by BMW corporate because "our wheels don't get stolen off of cars like in Westchester." I ended up having to call my dealer where I bought the car and have them tell Carbone BMW what to do. He remained unhelpful the entire time. I asked if there was a way I could get a loaner and he told me to "sit in my car and press the 'SOS' Button." A BMW dealership couldn't find the time to help me get a loaner or a ride when I was 300 miles away from home. Only buy a car from them if you want to spend $80,000 on a car and have their service manager tell you that he does not have time for you. read more

My wife took her Subaru to this location because it is reasonably close to her office and offered a shuttle to said office. I am, however, disgusted by the treatment I just heard that she was given by the shuttle driver of this dealership. We are hot on the trails of a big political rescission by the supreme cort regarding the Hobby Loby case and apparently this shuttle driver just couldn't shut his mouth about how a woman has basically "no rights" according to him. Furthermore, on the shuttle pickup later that day my wife was subject to ridicule as the driver had told everyone that she was "pro-woman" and "pro-Obama" before her pick up. Several passengers confirmed this. My question is who in the heck do you have working for you that thinks it's proffesuonal to discuss politics with customers, let alone talk about them behind their back? I bought a used car from carbone Subaru of Utica drove off the lot with it and did not get 10 miles away before it over heated. I had to get it towed back and they would not let me get my money back and go somewhere else but they did give me a better car for the same price that is the only good thing they did. When I looked at this car it just left their service department and was approved to be sold but the engine mount was broken and there was cement or gravel or something all over the bottom of it. They did fix this for me before I got it. Going through the paper work to get the car the man I was working with talked so fast I did not understand anything he was telling me and when I asked him to go over it again it was no different and was explained just as fast. We never went over what warentiy I wanted at all and I was just given one. I did not even know there was more then one option for one until after I was home. I spent 12 plus hours at this place just trying to get a car. Also after I was home I got an email a few days later saying they even missed a paper that I needed to sign. After three weeks of having the car I had to bring it to my local dealership shop to get a LOT fixed that this dealership missed and they are not small things. The breaks are pretty much gone and I needed to get them replaced, the backup camera is messed up sometimes its upside down and sometimes it does not work at all, the tierods on the front driver's side wheel are all messed up. read more

I recently purchased a Subaru from Chris Northrop. I see that there are some negative reviews, but so far my experience has been great. Chris was friendly and patient, he was willing to negotiate a fair price, and he even managed to get me 0% financing. I found the atmosphere at Don's to be relaxed and friendly, which was in contrast to the rushed atmosphere I experienced at the Honda and Mazda dealerships over in New Hartford. For example, when Chris took me for a test drive, he took me on a couple of back roads, which really let me feel how the all-wheel drive system would work. It was clear that he had my best interest at heart (even though he was a salesperson!). Throughout, Chris was personable, friendly, and helpful. read more

I purchased a Subaru from Don's Subaru. It was the worst experience ever. When I went to pick up all weather mats for my vehicle after parts called me and told me they were ready, there were none there. That's okay, not a major problem. Fast forward a year and my 2014 Forrester began burning oil and a low level indicator came on. This prompted me to return to Dons for service. They immediately said that it must have been a problem from whoever completed my oil change. They ran tests and found no leaks. I asked for an oil consumption test. They changed the oil and explained that the reason my oil was low was because the SUV takes 6 quarts of oil and an improper amount of oil was placed in my car at my previous oil change (my previous receipt from munro muffler showed 5 quarts added). I checked the manual and it stated that my car takes 5.1 quarts. I checked the dipstick on my forrester and they placed a full quart over the max in my car. I called and asked to have this remedied. There was no response. I called Subaru corporate who gave me the name of Mr Truesdell(service manager) and told me to expect a call. 3.5 days later, no call. I called subaru corporate again and they connected me directly with him. He offered no apologies and basically called me a liar as his "certified technicians would never overfill oil ". I brought the car to another subaru dealership who verified it was overfilled. I have since sold the car. I called several days ago to get a partial refund on my extended warranty and left a voicemail for the person in charge of that. I also faxed a copy of my odometer statement and policy. Few days later, no contact from them. Called them again and said they did not receive a voicemail or the faxed information. I took my 2013 Subaru BRZ for simple servicing. All they needed to do was drain the rear differential fluid and transmission fluid, I bought my own fluid special ordered for them to fill it with. They did fine changing the fluid, except when I came back home I noticed oil spots in my driveway. Come to find out, they never tightened the drain on the rear differential. It was only on finger tight and it never even crushed the crush washer. If these guys cannot handle something as simple as a transmission and rear diff change, they have no right touching anything on my BRZ in the future, would not even trust them to put air in the tires. These guys are jokes. When I called back I was told to bring it in, they will look at it. They did tighten the drain, but because I bought my own fluid they did not have it (MOTUL 300) I had to use their garbage fluid, so there goes a quart of fluid at 26$ a quart, no offer for refund or anything, just an "oh well, we're incompetent". Save yourself the headache and embarrassment going to this sham of a service center as they cannot even perform the most simple of tasks, would never trust them to do major work. Shame too because they are the only Subie dealer in the area, but hell I will drive to 'cuse, hell, I would drive to another state before I would ever consider taking my car to these jokes again. read more
